Tough fires those bsmts and cellars. One of my best buds from my time Carl Oreggia E33 said cellars and sub-cellars separate the men from the ones plying firemen.

That fire travels quickly in that kind of construction. Have to get everything opened up above.

I know for most of you, my comments are going to be way outside your comfort zone and ability to understand common sense and logic but give it a try. The front doors were destroyed for a basement fire. Every window in the house was completely destroyed. A lot of these heroes were not wearing SCBA! It's hard to know for sure but knowing the FDNY as I do, there is no evidence that they applied water to the basement fire through the window that showed flames escaping. They most likely and irresponsibly went down the exterior stairs into the basement that was burning, to put it out. The unfamiliar, hot and smoke-filled death trap of a basement, when they could have quickly and safely broken out all the basement windows and fogged the basement through the windows. Heroes on the second floor were pulling down ceilings without masks, for a basement fire.

You sir have obviously NEVER learned how to extinguish a fire in a basement with a possible life hazard. I’ll just take one of your quotes..’apply water through the window showing flames escaping’..basically that means there won’t be firemen down in that basement searching for loved ones since your willing to basically fry anyone trying to go through the interior by pushing those hot gasses through that basement. I’ll let others pick apart your other non logical quotes.

@@Critt42 Do you think before you make a comment or just write the first thing that comes to your mind? Does your sarcasm reinforce your position in your mind? The basement is on fire. There could be containers of flammable liquids stored down there. The heat and gasses are trapped in the basement making conditions even worse. Some small windows might have burned out to vent the gasses but that would also help the fire grow. Anyone in a basement doesn't stay down there long so they are mostly empty spaces. If someone were down there and a fire started, they would quickly leave. If they were somehow trapped, they would have suffocated by the time the fire department arrived and got ready to get to work. If they were in a room in the basement that held back most of the heat and smoke, they need that help instantly if not quicker. Suffocation is still a problem. When the department arrives, it takes a lot of time to get ready to go to work and get inside a structure. In that time, tank water can be applied to Visible Burning Material. There won't Be any firefighters down there!!!!! If they applied water through the window we saw with flames, the fire in that area would be extinguished in a few seconds. Fogging would cool the When the flames are gone, the temp would drop by 1000 degrees in seconds. If you don't believe me, go ask UL. Then, fogging the basement will cool the remaining gasses and force everything out the remaining windows that would then be opened after the initial knockdown. When the fire is mostly knocked down and the temp lowered, the victim is PROTECTED. By then, the firefighters are completely dressed and have gained entry to the basement and can enter a much safer environment to find the victim and mop up. If they didn't bring a fire blanket to wrap around the victim and air for them to breath, they wouldn't be able to open the door let alone remove them. They never EVER do that. Next time, you might want to try thinking before you expose your narrow mindedness to the world.

@@Critt42 More sarcasm and childishness to reinforce your sensitive ego? Nobody learned anything from either of your useless comments. You neglected to tell everyone where and how I was wrong about anything I have said about the FDNY. One of the worst departments in the world. Their videos prove that if you bother to evaluate their performance. But of course, you would first need to know how to fight fires correctly.
