You can see the LBs were passing the receivers to the next level. Specifically, Warner was playing the out/flat. I think they were in Cover 3. If I was JiYair I would sit back the next time we see them and let Warner do his thing in the 2nd level. I agree, we didn’t know his responsibility but it sure looks like he over anticipated

Am I wrong, but if this is Purdy’s tape, talking heads would be roasting him all week. But somehow this guy and others do so on the regular and they’re still considered elite.

Its not Purdys fault but he often has a guy completely wide open and its also his first read. Shanahan is truly a wizard and the only other team that gets reciever wide open more is Miami. Also a shanahan wizard. You dont even need a great oline if youre getting the ball to a wide open reciever in 2.5 seconds

Purdy had the most tight window throws through the first 8 weeks of football. Don't know where he is now but the narrative that his dudes are always wide open simply isn't true statistically. Also its almost never his first read. You just can't tell because he goes through his reads faster than anyone in the league. Watch the tape breakdown. He is often passing on short open receivers to go for the deeper pass. @@codyjackson245

@@codyjackson245 Dont get me wrong, Shanahan does get a lot of schemed open guys on short underneath stuff, but a lot of Purdy's highlights are throws to guys that are not the first read, and are thrown with anticipation. Add to that he's playing behind the 22nd ranked pass-blocking OL and you have to appreciate that Purdy is not just being carried by Shanahan and the 49ers playmakers.

@@codyjackson245you also can't ignore the fact Purdy often makes off script choices and turns them into massive plays more often than not. It's kind of fun watching Shanahans blood pressure visibly rise, but still have a big play happen. Aside from that, there are numerous examples of Purdy dropping dimes to receivers that aren't wide open and still able to make plays because the ball was placed well. You have to admit his accuracy and anticipation is great, especially for how few starts he's actually had compared to the other elite QBs.

At the same time, as a Niners fan I was waiting for this video to see the downfield coverage... which was good, but certainly wasn't as perfect as Hurts made it look. A superior QB could have punished it, but I'm not sure there is a QB out there that has both the OL and the escapability to buy enough time against our DL. Christmas Day vs Lamar is gonna be a big test.

It seems like Hurts relies more on his athletic playmaking abilities than on getting through his progressions and getting the ball out on time with anticipation and accuracy. Niners pass rush did a good job of keeping him from using his legs to gain yards taking away one of his strengths.

Athletes trying to play QB. They run around blindly until they see someone wearing their jersey color and then try to rifle it in there. That's not good QB play. You may get a couple highlight plays per game but you won't get consistency. I'm not sure Hurts would look like a starting NFL QB if he didn't have a stacked team. Probably closer to Fields than we want to admit.

@@Based_investor Agree. Just play the play. He has a strong and accurate arm. Just throw the ball. O-Line was probably a little frustrated they had to work overtime. He is so used to taking off from a very young age that it's become a hard habit to break. You're down 3 TD's with a few minutes to go in the game and you're taking off on 3rd and long. It's a dangerous play, unnecessary hits, etc... Just throw the damn ball. Wentz was doing a lot of weird things towards the end in Philly. Could this be the same decline? Now everyone thinks Kellen Moore is gonna implement all this motion into their offense. Motion will confuse Hurts more than it will confuse the defense. My hunch is they will use very little motion and if they struggle offensively Kellen Moore will have to answer those questions... why aren't you sing more motion? IMO Sirianni covered for Hurts last year when he was asked about Motion. He gave a strange answer. The fans will know the offense has less to do with the coaching and more to do with the qb. They have the Philly Shove to extend drives and score points or punt further down the field when they do punt. Most teams don't have that luxury. If Philly did not have the shove the offense would look a lot worse.

Jalen definitely has to make decisions quicker. He has the benefit of being behind the best O line in the league but how much longer can the Eagles sustain this is the question. Their future success heavily depends on how quick he is making reads. He has the talent and physical ability but there is a lot of missed opportunities in every Eagles game this season. Theyre 10-2 and guaranteed playoffs but realistically this team should be 8-4 or 7-5 rn. Have been fortunate other teams dropped the ball.

This game shows the 49'ers keeping Hurts 'unsure' and then even when there is a play he just wasn't confident in what he was seeing. Should Eagles fans be worried about Jalen Hurts not seeing things? As of late, Jalen just seems he is missing easy reads and has a hard time making quick decisions with anticipation. It just seems like a regression from last year. I wonder if the problem is the OC or the scheme.

As a birds fan I think Jalen is to fixated on the big play down field. If the coaching staff can convince him to take his check downs faster and take more of the underneath stuff on 1st and 2nd down we should be good. We had so many 1st down incompletions, and you can't waste first down. We should be running on 1st down and I would run to Lane Johnson's side more. He does a great job and other than Trent is arguably the best Tackle in football.

Weird. Shanahan said the same thing about Purdy's TD throw to Aiyuk at Seattle. Said the play wasn't designed to go there. But Purdy saw the coverage, saw a big gaping patch of open green grass and let it rip. Literally threw his guy open for a score. A chunk play on a play that was designed to be an intermediate route. That's what next level QB play looks like.

Hurts is still a good QB. Comments are going a little crazy right now trashing the guy. With that being said, I've never once understood the MVP hype for a guy who just isn't playing hald as good as Dak or Brock, and fully agree that the Eagles are getting a lot of lucky breaks this season (8-1 in one score games isn't realistically sustainable - not impossible, but still not the superbowl winning formula in any case). Lot of concerns about what can happen to Hurts once Kelce retires and once most of the current starpower is no longer in Philly, but that still remains to be seen. Tonight's game might be a bit of a litmus test, considering a two game skid to your best opponents in conference a month before playoff football is a massive red flag - especially after Philly damn near gave their games away to Dallas, KC, and Buffalo as well, who all wound up shooting themselves in the foot instead of taking the killshot.

As a Day 1 Iggles fan, the three things I've been considering since this loss to the 49ers: 1. We played 3 games in 13 days, our guys must have been tired. 2. I've always thought Hurts was overrated. 3. Dallas sucks!

I’m highly skeptical of any of these “test” scores and what they’re supposed to measure. C. J. Stroud had 18, Bryce Young has 98. Which of them has played better?

He kinda reminds me of Russell Wilson who was never that good in the pocket. When they can’t scramble to make play they look average. Maybe with more experience his throwing with anticipation will improve but I doubt it.

The Wonderlic is meaningless. Plenty of guys with high Wonderlic scores who had a hard time processing at game speed, and plenty of guys with low scores who processed great. It's not just intelligence. It's preparation, emotion control, vision, spatial awareness, and processing in real time. The ability to do it consistently play-in, play-out, game-in, and game-out regardless of circumstances is an incredibly rare, incredibly specific toolkit. The Wonderlic doesn't even really attempt to measure it.

He looks hesitant to throw it to the TE with Dallas out. Stolls only caught like 5 balls all year, maybe doesn't trust the backups.

The issues that the Eagles & Hurts are having ate related to them not imphasising or utilizing the RPOs . The offense is being run by multiple people from the new OC, head Coach, Howie (GM) , Mgmt Analytics up top, etc.. There are multiple cooks in the Kitchen here. Kelce didn't have a good game as well vs. 49ers as well as Hurts had plenty of time pocket to pass. There is no innovation or creativity in this Offense from last year when it was under OC Shane Steichen. Hurts is not utilizing his dual threat capabilites like last year due to whomever is running this Offense. These offensive woes are coming from coaching or upper Mgmt. analyitcs.

Niner fan here. I've only heard Carr say bench Hurts. Two things I know is Hurts ain't getting benched, and big Dom is never buying a beer again in Philly.
