I, for one, am proud of you for leaving any abusive relationship. Too many people stay in bad relationships for various reasons, some of them better than others, but it’s always damaging. There’s no reason to aim for one marriage in your life. That’s some Christian nonsense. People change and grow over time and it’s unusual for two people to change and grow in the same direction and at the same rate of speed, so it stands to reason they would need to separate at some point and find more compatible partners or maybe stay by themselves for a while.

And the fact is that the worst men are drawn to good women because they themselves want to be good, but in the end they can't be, and then they start to show who they really are. I'd rather be alone than put up with one more man taking over the remote to my tv or telling me how to drive my car or telling me to make my dog get off my couch.

As for how Jimmy Carter turned out and the example of "class", service, self-less-ness, and giving back is something the republican party - just being honest here - hasn't shown EVER...in my memory or voting life.... Call me a liberal now all you want...Idgaf...if being a liberal gets stuff done, gets taxes in line so the rich don't keep robbing the 98% rest of us, actually TRYING TO PASS A BILL , and give it a chance? Unlike block, block, block, block everything just because he's black, and block some more? Guess imma a new liberal then....still be center....just imma have a difficult time ever voting for any republican ever again, because the lies are literally 800,000 to 1 in ratio .... Last time the dems had the house, senate, and wh with a commanding majority was with FDR, and at least they tried, and thank God DID back then.. Oh ...the rich back then paid like 60-70% too taxes, and last checked they got richer because the economy grew because we all were a part of it

Read the book. Pretty good. (And then for greater context read the Bob Woodward book on Alexander Butterfield [from Nixon adminstration] that inspired her, too.) It was interesting how a sense of American independence and patriotism began to grow within her from the time she was five years old. She sees herself as a "Reagan Republican". Although my politics are at odds with hers, I have a lot of respect for her journey and eventual decisions to stand for her convictions, despite threats and adverse consequences. Trump, up there on his political soapbox, talking to his followers like they're a bunch of kids at a carnival. I mean, seriously, it's like he's handing out cotton candy and telling them wild stories about unicorns and rainbows! He's got this whole act going, simplifying everything, like he's teaching a kindergarten class. It's like he thinks they won't notice the smoke and mirrors! And let me tell you, the room feels more like a creepy haunted house than a political rally. His words, all twisted and turned, they're like a bad magic trick. You know it's an illusion, but you can't quite figure out how he's pulling it off. It's like a stand-up comedy routine, but with a dark, political twist. But here's the punchline: there are people out there who are eating it up! They're lapping it up like it's the funniest thing they've ever heard! It's a real-life satire, a comedy of errors, and somehow, they're convinced it's all real! So, in the end, it's not just a horror show-it's a comedy of horrors! And the scariest part? Some folks are laughing all the way to the voting booth!

And keeping it real, I also understand her reasoning for still committing to move to Florida to work for Trump. Regardless of how you feel about the orange clown, how can anyone turn down a good paying job with lots of perks and benefits? Like she said, once you're in that world, you do what you can to stay ahead and be successful. And unfortunately, yes, sometimes we all have to fight our instincts for the sole purpose of making a living. So I truly understand her and don't judge her. She was so young at the time, so anyone that says they wouldn't have done the same is just fooling themselves. Who would turn down a job working for a public figure who is not only super rich, but a former president at that? No one!

The more she speaks in her interviews the more I agree with you. I bought her book on Audible the day it came out. She narrates it. I'm only about a third of the way through. The further I go the more unsettling I find it. She continues to repeat that she's still a Republican, just not a MAGA Republican. When does she think the Party is going to clean house and go back to being the party it "used to be?" She said she doesn't believe the MAGA movement is a cult. This is the first time I've heard the word MAGA connected to the word "movement." If that's not a cult, then what is? Having listened to Part One of the book about her childhood, it's not surprising that she would end up in a cult. Her father was emotionally abusive to the point of sadism. The family moved so many times I lost count. It was incredibly unstable. To find herself in a place where only one thing mattered--loyalty to the leader-- must have seemed like a safe place to be. Even if it was about being loyal to a criminal. The tRump 4 years in the WH were not an administration. It was 100% based on a Mafia family. Belonging to the Mafia has always been a tRump fantasy. The NY mob would never have allowed him to join. The concept of omertà would have been incomprehensible to him. He reveals everything every time he opens his mouth. I hope Cassidy is able to connect the dots in her life. It's a daunting challenge that can take a lifetime. She is still so painfully young.

Loyalty doesn't crumble in a moment. It erodes over time. And the folks who have it are rightfully reticent to abandon ship. Otherwise it wouldn't be called loyalty. That said, everyone has their line in the sand and there's an internal conflict/struggle even at the very moment you've decided to go.

Most of the GOP Maga Congress still in office cannot govern. They all put themselves above the Constitution and their country. America and Americans deserve so much better. Maga Crazies need to be voted out. No matter the party, if you break the Law, they should be held accountable. Period.😊

Ms. Hutchinson is a brave young woman, intelligent, poised, articulate, competent and principled; clearly a rising star, if she wants to be. Thank goodness for her coming forward to tell what she witnessed. But I'm struggling with something. She has been described as the "chief of staff" to the Chief of Staff of the President of the United States, privy to the goings on of the most powerful office in the world. As a young adult in her early twenties, she clearly felt the pressure/influence of the many older/'wiser' people around her. When I look back on my early twenties, not yet even in graduate school, I too was a competent and articulate young professional, but really had no idea what I was doing; I relied heavily upon the guidance of elders in my field. So, how does a young person in their early twenties, even get to be in such a powerful and highly confidential setting? I get the idea of being an intern, but she was in a position of way more responsibility than that. Shouldn't there be someone with more life experience in such a role? (Then again maybe her innocence is what kept her from being fully sucked in.)

I love everything about this woman. I especially love how she often stops between responses or partial responses to carefully think about what she’s about to say. Certainly it’s partly to make sure she’s not going to say something that might put her in legal jeopardy but I think it’s more her just trying to get it right and be considerate of others. She is a hero from head to toe.
