Perfect analysis. We have to also remember that Ben is coming off of recent hip surgery, which will compromise his mobility in training and in the fight. Even if he is "tough" he will need to be able to move properly properly win. Jake is a smart boy.

Robbie Lawler with 4oz gloves cleanly hit him from above multiple times with incredible power (punches + elbow) - rewatch the footage. The take that Askren's take-downs prevented him taking much damage is funny because when he took that Lawler beating he was lying down already. They were powerful and clean punches he was hit with. When you're pinned against the ground it's there is no absorbing acceleration so you eat all the power as each punch hits you with more acceleration. So yes Robbie couldn't swing, but those were huge shots when he was fully exposed.
