Red Bull Sōlus, one of the most mentally and physically challenging contests in skateboarding, is back for a third year. From the mind of Ryan Sheckler, this digital skate competition challenges 17 of the top pros and amateurs to deliver their best continuous line at Sheckler’s private skatepark, the SC Sandlot. Here is Jake Ilardi’s run.
On June 6-8, each of the competing skaters were given one hour at the SC Sandlot to film their best line - no music, no other skaters, and no knowledge of who else is competing in the competition. They're just stuck with their thoughts, their time limit, and James Craig, this year's official Red Bull Sōlus timekeeper and emcee.
This competition format, combined with the new blood featured in this year’s roster, has resulted in the best Red Bull Sōlus to date.
The term “All-Terrain Vehicle” is used to describe skaters who can skate everything. Sometimes, that term is thrown around a little too generously. But not for Jake Ilardi. He can crooked grind nollie flip out of a handrail and proceed to blast a 540 out of your backyard pool with ease.

I love this contest format… It really highlights the absolute hardest parts of the sport IMO.

wow this blowed my mind, i've been watching jake for years cus i live an hour away from his home town, every time I see him skate he gets better and better. I can't believe how quickly he acclimated to the course compared to the past competitors. go jake!!

Same. But I live in Sarasota and see him at the park here what is basically every month and every time I see him he steps his game up.
I’m here watching this instead of downloading some whack ass caffeine app plus creating an account that I’ll only use once yet it’ll continue to track my phone and collect data….just to watch Berrics…nah. This is getting me my fix.

I like how he absolutely stomps some mind blowing tricks and then goes "ahhh!" as if he's just bailed and olley or something cause it's not quite perfect haha. The sign of a true competitor.
jake is so dope! he was pulling bangers 2 minutes in. yeah, he better win! HANDS DOWN THE BEST RUN. Period.

Jake skates and acts like an AI simulation of a skateboarder after a computer was fed nothing but X games and SLS footage. How you can watch him skate and listen to him talk and still walk away saying “that’s my guy” is beyond me.

For sure! 44 yrs young here. Biggest obstacle I'm hitting from flat are curbs and manny pads. I think mini-ramps were invented for guys like me though. So much less painful, especially in the joints. if you can stay on.
