I'm somewhat surprised that Jake and Eldridge at least understood why all the hard drives started malfunctioning. Probably their brightest moment in this entire episode.

As much as TAAHM episodes with Ashton are definitely inferior to the Charlie Sheen ones (the series was running on fumes by the end), my favorite things was Jake and Eldritch - like Dumb and Dumber for tv.

… In less than a minute, Jake and Eldridge completely destroyed a *very* expensive computer. I can’t decide whether I’m shocked or impressed?

The minute Jake announced that he and Eldridge joined the U.S. Army, I felt so sorry for the army.

“You need to listen to me!” Walden is spot on.

In real life, if the fire suppression system went off in a computer room, those two would be dead.

Alan had no need to worry. There's a place for just about everyone in the Army, even dipsticks like Jake.

Even Alan wasn't really all that concerned that Jake would die in the Army. His biggest concern was that Jake would destroy the world.

The recruiter really should have listened to Alan.

That was a different storyline. When Judith and Alan had trouble getting Jake to study or even listen to them, they threatened to send him to military school (Berta did as well). The threat worked at first until Jake realized they didn't have the money to send him. Here it's not going to military school, it's enlisting in the US Army. (Btw, the reason he did is because the Judge threatened to send both Jake and Eldridge to jail otherwise.)

That definitely doesn't happen anymore. Even with the conflicts in Iraq and Afg., the size of the military is much smaller. I can't see either of them passing the ASVAB (that's the entrance exam) to get in.

That is 1 of the most jacked up beret's I've ever seen. I know they can't use an accurate depiction of military uniforms, but damn.

I understand Walden losing it with Alan after that incident, but I'm surprised he didn't lose it with Judith as well for forcing Alan into asking him to let Jake work in his company. Besides, his legal team has more juice than Judith's lawyer.

Alan asked Walden if he would get Jake a job at his company but Walden thought it was a bad idea because Jake is a idiot but gave him a shot and he also gave Eldridge a job but the screwed it up

Pretty much grunt work. Everytime the red light went on they would replace the hard drive. (Alan begged Walden to give Jake any kind of job - much to Walden's dismay - and then Lindsey got him to also give Eldrich a job too).

40,000 hours isn’t all that much for those likely 10 terabyte or more industrial hard drives. Even if it was one gig per hour, it would take up a single drive at most. If it was 10 gigs per hour, it would take up like 5 drives.

Well Jake could cook. Even Evelyn saw that he had talent. (Unfortunately, that episode he ended up setting the kitchen on fire and they never brought it up again.)

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Jake that old. How long before he leaves or is this the excuse they use for him to leave?

Yeah this was back when Angus Young wanted to leave the show (he became a evangelical Christian and didn't like the tone of the show). Something must have changed, however, because he came back, even though they still made Jake a douche (like when he slept with a mother and her daughter (played by Emily Osment, who is now on Young Sheldon as George's wife and is going to be in the YS spinoff about George and Emily.))

“Wikipedia, it’s not just for term papers”? Jake, Wikipedia is not credible for any term papers. Many instructors don’t allow their students to use Wikipedia

This shows the army scrapes the bottom of the barrel. There’s a help wanted sign RIGHT THERE at the food court and then the army recruiting guy asks Jake and Eldridge “hey guys. Did I hear you need jobs?” He does the same thing to a couple guys asking “hey guys. Do you like video games?” I take it Eldridge dies since he never appeared again in this show after this episode.

That hasn't been the situation for some time. The Army has much lower numbers than before and they are a lot more picky. Neither Jake nor Eldridge would score close to the minimum on the ASVAB entrance exam to even get in. As for Eldridge, his character was written off because Angus Young wanted to leave the show - he became a born-again Christian and didn't want to play Jake anymore. Graham Patrick Martin, the actor who played Eldridge, got cast in the series Major Crimes with a main role and was unavailable.

The fact the recruiter is wearing his beret wrong and wearing it indoors really grinds my gears

Because apparently no one on the show had any actual idea about the modern army. (For example, neither Jake nor Eldritch would ever score anywhere near the minimum on the ASVAB to get into the Army.)

You are supposed to pack some stuff for your self when you get shipped to Basic, athletic shoes, underwear, only the bare minimum stuff and basic sanitary stuff, no cologne or anything that could in theory be used as a weapon or electronics, although I heard they're allowing cell phones now so you might be able to take your phone but there is a pack list of stuff you need to take with you.

All of this is according when I wanted to join the national guard, National Guard might do things slightly differently then the full time Army or any other branches but in the US National Guard FAQs, there's a question on what somebody should pack and there's a full list of things you should bring with you

No, Angus Jones left the show because he became a born-again Christian and didn't like being on the show, so they wrote this storyline. (He even released a video telling people who watched TAAHM not to watch the show again). But I guess he had a change of heart because he returned for the last season.

As an IT guy, they easily just cost that business 500,000 to well over a million dollars. Plus, possibly even more due to lost data.
