    Doctor so good to hear this good news, my question is What food to eat in order to aid JAK inhibitors? or practices?

    There is no specific food for alopecia areata. The main supplement that I suggest for most is Vitamin D. Here is a video on it kzread.info/dash/bejne/e2SFyZmCmtOsdrQ.html A good diet is also good for younger looking skin. kzread.info/dash/bejne/laWqz9Zvkry9dqw.html

    I have Universalis and I see from a Facebook group ‘JAK inhibitors for alopecia’ that people with decades of Universalis have got their hair back. I’m hoping the new JAK up for review by NICE in November will be approved. Does the ‘immune privilege’ fall for just hair follicles or is it falling at the same time for other things such as joint tissue?

  • @DiscoverDermatology

    @DiscoverDermatology

    9 ай бұрын

    Immune privilege seems to be only for some tissues like the hair and eye. Baricitinib has already been NICE approved for AA

    Thanks Aswajit, hope you are well! I use JAKs mainly for eczema and psoriatic arthritis as these are the only two conditions that are licencesed for its use in the UK. It seems to be quite effective for these conditions too. The patients with AA that I have treated have all had atopic eczema too, so I have been able to prescribe it for them.

    too bad the cameraman couldnt get the lighting right, i would've liked to have seen the slides. just got diagnosed with alopecia and lost my full thick head of hair in about 9 days. it's been pretty shocking, and hard to find solid info on. great information to have, looking forward to getting started on these. haven't adjusted to complete baldness/no facial hair yet, it's making me pretty grumpy.

    Hi, there are quite a few treatments available for chronic prurigo and I did an extensive lecture on this topic, which I enclose below. This may give information on how we can manage this condition effectively. kzread.info/dash/bejne/jH2AscuEldDQgJc.html The best way to contact me would be by asking the questions on the KZread comment section. Due to the nature of social media, I will not be able to answer specific questions about an individuals condition or on how to manage it specifically. I can only give general guidance that is mentioned in the videos I post.

    JAK inhibitors take a few months to work. On average, we need to use it for at least 6 to 12 months before we have a significant response. In the UK we use a JAK inhibitor called Ritlicitinib and I will load a video on it soon.

    This medication is not a cure but has a good chance of providing regrowth of th hair in alopecia areata. Simpler treatments like steroid injections into the patches can also be used. There are lots of good dermatologists in Chennai. They include Dr Anand Nott, Dr Augustine and Dr V R Janaki. @@user-gf7uu4xh8y

    My 12 year old daughter has been on 4mg of Baricitinib for 11 months now. She was completely bald before taking this drug. She now has full regrowth. 🙏🏿 Watching this video I was hoping that she might not have to take this drug for life, but it seems she might have to 😔

    Its great that there is good hair growth with baracitinib. At present, we do not know what the long term effects of the mediation is. Hopefully, we could reduce the dose and use maintenance doses. Future research will give us more information. Oral Minoxidil is another option for alopecia areata. Here is a video on oral minoxidil. I tend to use it in hair disorders of any aetiology. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Ypelqq-QZ8vZl7A.html

    You are right, it is still expensive in the West. I was surprised to find that it's much more cost effective in the subcontinent. So most there are able to afford it.
