In this episode we take a look at the facts, secrets and history of the Jak and Daxter franchise. Jak and Daxter was created by Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin. The series was developed by Naughty Dog, but several titles were outsourced to Ready at Dawn and High Impact Games. The first Jak and Daxter game was one of the earliest titles released on the Sony PlayStation 2, and is generally regarded as a defining franchise for the console. The first three games in the series were very successful, and were eventually re-released on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita as part of a remastered collection. The franchise has sold over 12 million units combined.

So the reason there isn't a true Jak and Daxter 4 gamer is because the team didn't feel like they wee putting their heart and soul into it?
I feel like Naughty Dog is such a great company because they grew up with their audience.
I have to say, I hope future Jak games doesn't go for the realistic look. I like its cartoony art style

I think the somewhat "downfall" of good games and game franchises like this was the thought process that the player base was getting older and for whatever reason we would want 15 redesigns of characters we loved and a more mature story. I wouldnt expect from playing Jak and Daxter as a kid, to eventually they would be some machine gun wielding, prostitute slaying couple. Redesigns and revamps really should only be for dead franchises and reboots. Changing over to HD is vastly different from that and I think they got the two confused. Gaming companies keep trying to stay ahead of the curve with these random decisions and think that its staying fresh, just go back to telling a good story with characters I love already and stop trying to fix what isn't broken.

Jak and Daxter is a game that's on my list of games I missed out on... definitely need to play it someday.
Someone who scrapped a new Jak and Daxter game for ETHICAL reasons? I can respect that.
These games are still my most favourite of all time. Grew up with Jak and Daxter, then kept going with Jak II and Jak 3, absolutely amazing games.
that's how you make a good game you take time and don't rush it. Love Jak back in 2000 was my first ps2 game
If Naughty Dog was going to reinvent Jak like those images showed then I'm glad the game wasn't made. While I still want A Jak 4 (not including Lost Frontier) I still want it to be like the old ones, just with prettier visuals and maybe the explanation of how Jak becomes Mar.
