Hearing Samos say, "So this is how it happened," and, "Find yourself, Jak," makes a lot more sense. He meant it literally. That's good foreshadowing and world-building.

One of the all time "holy sh*t!" moments in gaming history. I know fans are split, but I find Mike Erwin's performance and Jak's character to be much more interesting in 2 and 3.

2 years late but i just want to say i totally agree, when i first played this as a kid it blew my mind the transition between 1 and 2 and how dark it had become. At first as a kid i didnt really know what to feel but it ended up being great. Best child hood series for me.

You're not the only one! I went through a similar thing that you went through when I first played Tony Hawk Underground games. The first time I heard the characters curse, it pretty much told me that the THUG series wasn't the kid-friendly Pro Skater series that it once was.

“Find yourself jak....” he knew all along.

"Yet, the Hero it created, was a Champion for all time." It's now 2024*, and this couldn't be more true to this day. Nothing will ever replace Jak & Daxter.

As a grown adult, age 25, that single sentence will put me in tears almost instantly.

This series and its story were so underrated. You don't hear anyone still talk about it sadly. I loved these games with a passion.

I commend them for being able to explain the change in setting in just under 5 minutes.

Let’s never forget that it was hearing Daxter’s name that helped Jak retain his sanity. I don’t want to know what he would’ve turned into without his partner beside him.

This is why Daxter is a great sidekick and one of the best ever created, he isn't only there for making jokes but he helps to make the plot interesting and he is actually helpful, also without him Jak would be a monster. This is how you write a good sidekick, many writers still fail on this.

This game is such a damn classic. They really don't make them like this anymore.

5:28 That's the problem with tempers - when you swing, you don't always know who you're going to hit. Dark Jak is a wonderful analogy for NaughtyDog turning over a new leaf in video game maturity - from a playful world filled with collectables and mini games, to a much more sinister, violent reality. In short, the dual nature in Jak is a representation for the duality between the first two games.

Man…the music from Samos monologue is some of the most nostalgic imo, and it’s sucks that it’s not on the soundtrack

Even cooler when you realise Jak built this whole city to protect his race from the Metal Head infestation. Mar/ Jak 4 woulda been so cool.

Nice quality. And perfect scenery. Still one of my favorite intros of all games.

I'm replaying this on PS5. This game needs a remake, this whole series needs a remake AND a sequel.

@@ClaudioVarone3299 Remake would be nice, not reimagining. In style of Crash Nsane Trillogy. The only high quality version of Jak and Daxter Trillogy is on PS3, unless someone makes a port to PC, like in a case of Jak and Daxter 1.

Aye frfr this is one of the greatest video game trilogies ever made between story,dialogue,gameplay, difficulty,graphics,iconic characters…bruh. This is a certified classic. Gives me goosebumps to consider that Jak was considered a champion for all time. A lot of people could only imagine such a thing.

"So this is how it happened." So Samos still remembers even after all those years of living in the past. My question is, where did the other sages come from and do they have successors living somewhere in Haven/Kras city? Or were all the sage lines except for the green sage killed when the metal heads invaded? I wonder if anything Gol and Maia said was prophetic. I remember Gol saying something about the world being flooded in darkness when you fought him at the end of the game, so it's possible he foresaw the dark maker invasion in Jak 3, or maybe something even further in the future, past the point of when The Lost Frontier storyline takes place.

There’s no real answer to this, cause I don’t think Naughty Dog planned all of this. So any information on this is based on speculation. My take on the whole thing is that each sage experimented with an element of the world (like the younger green sage did in Haven) and so they learned how to harness the Eco from that element. As for if they have successors, I doubt it, since no one expected the metal heads invading, and basically everything and everyone in the world of Jak and Daxter was destroyed. Also Lost frontier isn’t made by Naughty Dog, so I don’t consider it canon XD.

Damn u go through a whole adventure fighting monsters and stuff just to get knocked out with the butt of a gun

Except Jak took the experiments way more personally and wanted revenge on Praxis, Crash never developed a grudge against Cortex. He just wanted to rescue Tawna(his girlfriend)stopping Cortex was really just an added bonus.

I still remember when my mom night me this. I was so happy since I completed the first game 100%. Brings back all memories.

Oh wow. The baron was "informed that this one might be different". But jak is a completely outside element. The only one who would know about him is the other who went through the gate and the metal head leader. And that's why he was able to find you as soon as you escaped

See, what still puzzles me to this day is why nobody warned Samos about the rift gate. Assuming our Samos went through anything similar to future Samos, you'd think past Jak or anyone else would have told him not to mess with the huge door and then bam, no metal heads taking over your world and making the population miserable and violent. All they would need to do from there is plan a defense against the Dark Makers.

Except Samos does remember, at least vaguely. "So this is how it happened?" "Find yourself Jak!" Later in the game, Young Samos takes young Jak through Kor's rift gate, so that Jak may grow up and complete the trials he's completed here, in order for Jak to even do anything. This means Jak's existence is a perpetual loop of "grow up, save my younger self, do whatever after, repeat"

So is daxter for psp suppose to be the prequel to jak ii

The resolution is improved only slightly, models and textures replaced, most,y updated to accommodate the ps3 hardware and flatscreen tvs high def capabilities while still emulating the ps2. Its really hard to tell the difference, i totally agree, but its mainly because its cosmetic, regardless of the changes, its still jak and daxter The only read difference i saw was daxters fur, tbh,

In side by side comparisons you can easily tell, the ps2 version, while identical looked blockier, the assets, duller, the textures, less vibrant.
