My grandparents are missionaries. My grandfather can’t travel anymore but he helps pay for the trip and my grandma has traveled to places like Zambia, Denmark, and a lot of Europe

I love this family, but is converting people to your faith really a good thing? All belief systems have good and bad aspects, hence they are all equally great!

Our neighbors/friends are LDS. The husband is Stake President & they have missionaries over all the time. We make sure they know that we're always home if they're in the neighborhood and need a bathroom or something. Some of the sweetest people I've ever met.

I am going to eventually go on a mission for the LDS church, also my uncle just got back from his mission of 2 years and I was so happy to see him. It’s really special to go on a mission and talk about Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father, and I just really appreciate you going on a mission and talking about god and his son. Congratulations!! You will never regret taking the time to focus on serving your Lord and Savior and shaky the gospel. I served in a mission in Minnesota it was life changing and gave me such a strong foundation in the gospel for my life. God be with you in your new adventure.

I was raised Lutheran, but I have the utmost respect for missionaries. They leave everything they know to bring people closer to Christ. Makes my heart so full knowing there's men and women like Janie and Journee are doing that. I will NEVER forget when I was in my hometown, on the bus coming home from work. And two missionaries got on the bus, and this one lady started screaming that "it's not a real religion". It broke my heart for the two men she was harassing. So I stood up and informed her of what their actual purpose was. I've never heard a bus clap so hard once she got off the bus. Bless you Janie and Journee. You're incredible women, and I can't wait to hear the stories you bring home with you.

@@juliagruszka9959 NP! It just means we don’t have a denomination (like LDS, Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, etc, those are all denominations.) we don’t have leaders like their church does, we just have our pastor, and that’s it!:)

Can I say this comment and the lady below asking to learn what nondenominational Christian meant brings joy to my heart as both of you were very civil and respectful. It makes me sad now days how others condemn those who do not believe the same faith as them. My daughter is now 9 and she is Muslim. When she was 5 getting ready to go into kindergarten a young boy on our street who was 8 at the time, called her a strange Muslim and pushed to to the ground causing her to get a concussion. Told her Trump would send her back where she came from. I live in Utah and the little boy and his family are LDS. My family is LDS and very active. I am not. My sister and her husband are the epitome of being a good LDS family. They are caring, help anyone no matter their beliefs etc and are non judgemental of anyone. It's live and let live. These people would not let their kids play with my daughter because of being Muslim and because I smoke, outside, so they've seen me. I don't smoke in our home. Anyway, this little boy didn't learn that from going to church he learned his awful behavior from his parents who I think were not following the most reverent of all commandments which is to love thy neighbor. Your interaction gives me hope. I see so much ugliness when it comes to others faiths. I respect everyone's right to live how they want and to worship how they see fit. Whether it's in a synagogue, mosque, cathedral, church house or an open field or on top of a mountain. We need to love one another. We need to care for one another. This pandemic has brought out so much ugliness thank you for showing the true commandments and God's love for us all

A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS Jaine!!! I served in the Georgia Atlanta Mission in 2002-2003!!! Back then we were only allowed to write letters or send emails to our families. Phone calls were only for 1 hour, two times a year (Mother's Day and Christmas). I think it is so wonderful that missionaries are now able to keep in better contact with their families. It makes it easier to be away from them for so long.

Why can’t you call your family everyday. That is super strict and awful. The kids are young and might need contact. You can still do your mission even if you keep in touch with your family. I am not LDS and don’t want to be. I grew up Roman Catholic and now I am Episoical but the rules of the LDS church are too strict I feel. I am learning more about the LDS church from people who I know that got asked to join. However, I hope things work out for the children of this family who do go on missions.

​@@TrulyYoursKelly things have changed a bit since the early 2000s but it isn't to strict because they cannot have many distractions and they also now can call every weekend if they would like but most don't anyway
