@@em_san I believe there is a different consideration for paparazzi because they are documenting truly public figures, even then I believe there are some limitations. Jaiden hadn’t previously provided the public with her likeness before so I think there is a pretty obvious difference between her and a celebrity. I am not a lawyer either, though there is a reason why model releases are so important in making commercial content. When I was a professional videographer, clients wouldn’t so much as think about using someone’s likeness without consent because their legal teams would have a stroke. It’s a big no no to use someone’s likeness without a release in that industry because lawsuits can, and will, ensue

One thing I admire about Jaiden is that she never said their name, she could have called out this person for how they were ignoring her and she would have been in the right, but she never did because she doesn't like drama, specially if she's the one starting it Of course people put two and two together and they figured out it was Alex Clark almost right after her video explaining why she didn't showed her face (until that moment) was uploaded (they first though it was Rebecca Parham from LetMeExplainStudios, but Jaiden said it wasn't her)

It’s just gone and he never admitted to what he did. If I were to give him the benefit of the doubt he may have reached out to jadien and she said not to bring it up to avoid any KZread drama. Similar to how her videos with the animator in the green shirt (I’ve blanked on his name) are just gone. Although there’s still sooo much speculation about that, although I heard there was no drama there she just didn’t like being shipped with male friends and got rid of the video. She probably wanted to avoid drama, so might have said not to say anything that’s why she doesn’t want to say the name. He could be respecting her wishes based on a conversation after the fact that was private but he also might be avoiding taking responsibility. Seeing as how he was an adult and was then told why she didn’t want her face in the video not just “oh I don’t like how I look” but that she had an eating disorder is just.. wow.. I thought maybe it might have been a younger creator, maybe they didn’t know why just she didn’t want to show her face.. but it was a guy that was definitely old enough and knew why. Which, what makes it worse was she was forced to give a reason.. no should just mean no. I’m glad I never really watched him. I think I’ve seen a couple videos way back when but never really liked his stuff.. I’m glad jadien is doing better and had way better friends in the community now!

She wasn’t in the wrong, actually she handled the whole situation way better than she needed to. Perfectly polite, respectful, and went out of her way to do the editing herself and send a version of it back that she was comfortable with. Unfortunately most people don’t give a shit about boundaries and respecting other peoples comfort zones. I really wish the person with that original video had respected her wishes and just used the edited version that she didn’t even have to provide, but made the effort to do so.

After this came out he made an apology, where he basically didn’t apologize and said that it looked better without the edit and so he choose not to edit it. What they hell is wrong with that dude. If someone asks to have their face hidden, then hide their face

I'm not sure if you really listened to the apology. Don't get me wrong, I'm not sure if it's a great apology but not for that reason. He said AT THE TIME he thought that and wasn't aware of the severity of the issue. He was trying to say that in hindsight he should have just listened but was too ignorant to realize.

@@beyondviolet I agree completely, but that doesn't dissolve accountability for the decision she made. Our actions have consequences, and she knew the consequences of going when she went. If I have a major anxiety involving being away from home in a storm, but I'm really craving McDonalds, consequences of going to McDonalds when I know a storm is on the way is absolutely on me. It's not the fault of anyone going slow in traffic, or the McDonalds workers messing up and having to remake my order, I knew the risks and possibilities the moment I stepped out the door. That's taking responsibility for your own actions. She regretted it after, she had a moment of panic, but in the end she got through it and it worked out. She's a good enough person to understand and take some responsibility for how things turned out. That's why she points out how he was a jerk and a bad 'friend', but also doesn't name him.

She’s someone that deserves empathy here, but Alex is not. I respect her decision not to name names for the reasons you describe, I just don’t think that’s really enough.

I was aware about her having struggled with EDs but I was under the impression that she had made a full recovery. Second of all, don't you think there's a huge difference between what you're describing (which I will not even attempt to defend as it is completely unacceptable) and a simple "she's gorgeous"? Perhaps it's because English is my second language but I don't see how the latter is sexualising. With something so tame it probably would've been better to be a tad less harsh, especially since OP might've not known and they were genuine and well-meaning

It doesn't matter what the intent is, Jaiden has already stated her boundaries and therefore it's *not* *your* *decision* to make on how she should feel. If she doesn't want comments on her body or have her image and/or avatar being used to sexulize her, then you should respect those boundaries. 3. Complimenting on Jaiden's looks when the video is about how her face was revealed without her permission and how uncomfortable she was is still shallow. I don't think you understand how annoying and insensitive it is for someone to make that kind of comment on something so serious.

There’s too many comments that share this sentiment. She’d be wrong to put all the wrong on the creators who posted her face. She was in a public event where the focus was on filming. Yes, you are valid in thinking that the poster are immoral for not respecting her wishes, but you need to acknowledge that she made her own choices and mistakes. She shouldn’t expect privacy when going out in public. If she really didn’t want her face to be shown, the. Don’t go out in public to these events cemeteries around filming videos.

Props to Anthony and Jaiden for not disclaiming that it was Alex Clark who leaked her face reveal, I wouldn't want Alex Clark to receive hate even tho he hasn't apologized or even recognized that what he did is wrong. At least Jaiden cut ties with Alex Clark and they aren't friends anymore

i remember seeing the whole thing go down ages ago. when jaiden came out about her whole ordeal it was pretty damn heart wrenching. fuck alex clark

That is something I agree on. From what I am getting, there are some people who are trying to play the situation off and going "Yeah, but she was in a public place!" Even if they don't have any of those qualities we owe content creators WAY more respect than they are getting irl. People really need to separate their personas in planned videos from day to day interactions.

Being fair, Alex Clark's channel has been pretty much dead for years. For a channel with over 4 millions subs, it's very rare that he gets over 50k views, I'd say he got what he had coming

Hope she's doing better. I used to watch Alex and her when I was younger. I kinda grew out of it, but she helped me through a lot.

The fact there's no doubt this was not just a misunderstanding or a mistake on Alex's part by putting up the wrong video makes this even more disgusting. He made his intentions very clear to this poor girl that all he cared about was the temporary clout he'd get from this video and not about the long term effect it could have had on Jaiden as a person who clearly struggles with her self image as it is. I hope Alex realised that this small bit of attention from random people online just wasn't worth destroying a friendship with her and caused so many people to hate him for being so transparently inconsiderate.

I sadly did not have what it takes to hold onto that desire to carry it out till the end but hey, I've always seen you as my idol. I literally used to think that i was your number one fan out there as i had your avatar taped on my room for years. Even my classmates got to hear me yap about you. I truly am thankful to you for letting me dream about becoming an artist. I may have not become an animator and joined you and the other storytime animators, but i became more confident about my artworks and about myself as a person at the same time. I am now an artist It was an awesome journey to keep watching you for so long. I was probably in middle school when i discovered you and now i am a College student who still loves art and animation and still has the childhood dream of some day getting your slightest attention even if it means you read this comment about your fangirl. When I first heard this, I thought for sure it would’ve been some random person. But no, it was Alex fuckin Clark.

That’s honestly truly upsetting. As somebody who is insecure about how I look and slowly getting over it, to be in pictures or videos without wanting to is one thing, but when you ask nicely to get taken out of that picture and/or photo and even put in the efforts yourself to do it, and yet that said person still posts it knowing that you aren’t comfortable with that yet is just trashy and betrays her trust she had for said person. It’s just messed up.

I can't even imagine the thoughts she had when that video was posted and the anxiety she felt. If I were her, I wouldn't come out of my house for days, but that's Jaiden, a person who can be up when it's down

Oh wow! She is SO not in the wrong! She made a request that was absolutely reasonable given that she put in the work to make it happen and then they decided to use her face WITHOUT HER PERMISSION for MARKETING, which is specifically what including it in tags its. She should sue them, legitimately. She likely wouldn't have had grounds if they just posted the un-edited video because it's in a public space, but the video tags are what could let her win it. Absolutely appalled.
