Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The XJR is in the shop and the tear down has begun. We are documenting the process to tear down the XJR engine and get to the head gaskets to replace them. This will be a multi part series so follow along for the progress and we hope you enjoy!

First of all, thank you for the comprehensive video. The job has gone smoothly. My 1998 XJ8 project is like a "Bad Date" you pay a load of money, lots of time, and you get Nothing but heart ache. You have made this experience a little more pleasant. My wife thinks I'm having an affair with this car, she calls it the Bitch. Thank you Sir. Respectfully, Vincent.

Once you have the service up to date these cars are very loyal. I have faith you will get there!

I have an '03 XK8, 4.2 in need of headjob, etc. You mentioned that a 4.0 and a 4.2 are the same except for stroke. If I understood correctly, you were suggesting that the gaskets etc are the same kits. Can you confirm?, or suggest a source for a full gasket, seals, chains kit. Please and thanks, And thanks for your video's, they have been most inspirational. Dorn

The later 4.2 uses MLS head gaskets. If you are based in the US I have had good luck with FCP Euro.

it might be worth noting that on the seconary chains with the removable link is that it needs to run in the right direction so it can't accidentally undo.. great vids.

It is better to torque down the caps with each cam at its all valves closed "safe" position, then rotate the flats horizontal afterwards. It is a peculiarity of the firing order on cruciform crank 90 degree V8s that this safe position exists.

The new tensioner should come pinned so it isn’t tight. That way you can get everything where it needs to go without much effort. Once you’re ready to put the timing cover on you then remove the pins and it will tension the chains. Hope that helps.
