Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Join Tom & James once again for a catch up on the XJC RRR - part 10 of the series.
In this episode they are on the way to Caffeine & Machine with Auto Alex, who is in his latest purchase - a Porsche 993 C4. We travel up in convoy which is the perfect opportunity for Emma the XJC to be put through her paces.
Find out what things are left to sort or address…but it’s safe to say, all the hours Tom has put in have paid off!
It was our first time at Caffeine & Machine, but definitely won’t be our last, a great venue to meet like minded car enthusiasts and have a laugh.

One of my favourite KZread videos since 2005, is how good that was. I would love to see Harry testing the 2 Jags back to back. What an amazing tribute to Emma

My Dad had a very early modded XJ Coupe back in 1979. It was originally a 4.2, registration ‘NDA 723P’, but he had a 4.7 litre blue-printed engine fitted by Ron Beattie at Forward Engineering. A beautiful Midnight Blue colour too.

Really enjoyed this series so far! Watched it all in one go and kept my attention all the way. Been great to have an insight to your lifestyle and your garage and I could listen to your knowledge all day Keep it up guys, looking forward to seeing a lot more from you! The only question I keep asking myself is should that steering wheel be so shiny? I know alot of people like using oil based treatments on their leather, I'm only saying this because I've cleaned many of my wheels over the years and been amazed when that shiny look dissapears and the rag is absolutely coated in years worth of oil and skin cells. And personally Iv'e never been a massive fan of really shiny leather and prefer more towards a satin look, but its not my car, i wish hahaha, like something between your freshly clean new center section of the wheel and the seats, easy to see the diffrence if you pause at 8:15 . Also also as you know clean leather can give better grip and is less likely to slip out of your hands unexpectedly whilst still allowing you to run the wheel through the hands when needed. Magic erasers are excellent for this job, another option is a strong all purpose cleaner a brush and a microfiber.

Great work! All very tastefully and professionally done. But 3000rpm cruising on the motorway seems (and sounds) far too high for a 5 speed manual.

Fantastic build! Manual XJR6s are my thing, so dropping the drivetrain into the XJC is grand idea in my book. I would be interested in hearing Harry's take on the car. He doesn't seem to mention anything about the car which spawned this great engine, the X300. I wondered whether they just might not be his thing. Does he care for an XJR6 manual for example?

I really enjoyed this ten part series Tom. If I could make a suggestion for content...it would be to really get into the technical details of doing a manual gearbox and rear end diff swaps on modern Jaguar engines...from the 4.2 XK I6 up. Where to source gearboxes ? checking them ? rebuild costs ? Clutch master and slave cylinder info. Possibilities if any of modifications... eg rear gearing. You kind of inspired me to switch my engine in my project. Was going to use a 4.2 XK I6 but now I will be using an AJ16S in a replica Aston Martin DB5...using a 1996 BMW Z3 for the platform. Thinking of setting up my own channel showing this. All the best, Rob from Canada

I’m not a fan of that vinyl roof… but it’s nicccccce! I once saw one in France and the guy at the garage wanted 1000 euros… unfortunately it was too far gone….!

Yes, the vinyl roof is of it’s time - the key to using this particular car, as the ‘donor’ to do the restomod was the overall condition. Tom found this car that was structurally sound which was red with the roof. As you say, once they are too far gone, it doesn’t make financial sense to save them 👍

Hi Tom, I know you do a standalone Emerald ECU &modern Bosch injectors for the V12 - do you think this is worth fitting to the circa 1989 V12 XJS with the Marelli ignition, later 16CU ECU etc?. would you see much benefit, or is the Jaguar OEM system already pretty modern/sorted by 1989?

Quick question for Mr Lenthall: Is a 4L AJ6 engine interference or not? I'm in the process of replacing the head gasket on mine and I was wondering if the engine would grenade itself if I were to mess up the timing. Thank you!
