Internal monologue is both a blessing and a curse because for example it's so great to have when you read books and create fictional scenarios but then when you go to sleep this voice suddenly torments you about your fears and anxieties and plays back all of your embarassing moments like why

having an internal monologue is just like literally talking with yourself. I hear thoughts in my own voice in words, in sentences. Like if I see someone and i like their shirt i can verbalize in my head "ah, that's a cool shirt" and then keep building off that and say, still in my head, "I wonder wear they got it from.... maybe I can find it if i look it up on google or something. I'll check later maybe" It's like if i was talking to myself out loud, except it's not out loud, it's all in my head. I don't know if other people have described this but i didn't read a lot of comments, so if you're reading this Jae, hope this helps i guess And with giving speeches, just because I have an internal monologue doesn't mean I know what I'm going to say. I can write well, I think, but I cannot give a speech or speak in front of other very easily. The speech isn't automatically in my head, I still have to create the speech. So, I think that is something that just depends on how people think and how fast they are on the spot, which I don't think is something limited to only people with an internal monologue, or without.

literally rn typing and reading this i'm talking inside my head and i can hear it but not actually hear the words. like how you can look at a certain picture of a food and smell it but it's only a picture ... , example if you see pizza and you end up smelling pizza but there isn't actually a pizza in front of you.

I thought that this skill is '' developed " during your childhood, cause, like, reading books helps your imagination and stuff. But Jae said that he also read books, so now I'm assuming this has to do with your genetics or is just random. P. I find this whole "pre screening your conversation" weird. I actively have an inner monologue but if im in a conversation my inner monologue becomes my outer monologue. Its not like when someones talking to me I think of an answer before saying it, because you actually listen and respond in real time. Its more for when youre by yourself or like now when typing this out.

this is my fave episode so far.. can't believe jae doesn't have an internal monologue hahaha really love as the discussion literally have two sides as diane have an internal monologue while doesn't have.. totally love diane's remark how jae has so much to learn about hahaha.. i also love jae's comments (that "interesting" & "oookay")

totally relating to the book voices diane was talking about. in addition to that, if the scene’s escalating into something climactic or it involves a lot of the characters’ actions (quidditch or duels in harry potter for example), i’ll find myself reading the text quicker than how i would read “calmer” scenes. it’s funny when i notice it lol

This topic is so so interesting! Good video. I am totally on Diane's side, and surprised this is not a common thing. When I read a book, it's almost same as listening an audio book. There is a voice acting the character in the book. If I watched a movie before reading the original novel, then I can hear the voice of the actor who was seen on that movie.

So now I’m wondering how Jae writes his lyrics. If he doesn’t have an inner monologue then where do the ideas come from? Does he hear the music in his head along with the lyrics or does he just he just compose it out? When I write I always have a running commentary of what my next sentence would be and how I could change it to sound better but he doesn’t have the inner monologue so where does it condensed into words? I’m so intrigued on how his thought process works!

i tend to think of my internal voice as like... you know when you need to do an essay for an assignment and you do multiple drafts and versions? i pick how to type/write out and even say things in that way (i don't know if this makes sense but it's the best way i can explain it). and sometimes there'll be multiple layers of thoughts, like i'll be thinking one thing but i'll also be subconsciously thinking another thing in the "background" and sometimes i re-explain things to myself in my head in detail to "clarify" despite knowing exactly what i meant the first time i thought it. but sometimes i also only see things as images or scenes and they don't have any bg commentary coming in from me, like when i'm writing a narrative story and i just have the idea (like jae mentioned) and then i have to make a concentrated effort to fully and properly describe it. and all the while i'll be grumbling to myself or panicking in my head if i have a deadline to do it by and it's the last minute i'm writing it at. edit: i realised after rereading this how confusing this is to understand and i genuinely have no idea how to make it make any sense edit 2: also i don't hear a specific voice (or even my own) unless i consciously try to; like if i were to recall something i heard jae say, i'd hear it IN his voice, but usually it's just A Voice in my head emphasising certain parts of speech as it goes.

first of all, I love listening and watching content from Dive Studio. Even though I just discovered this channel, I am safe to say that I am 100000% hooked. OK, now here's a topic of discussion, has anyone ever wonder or just found yourself wandering into thoughts like "Why is a table called a table? or Why is it shaped like that? or Who decides or gets to name a table a 'TABLE' ?" I found myself having these thoughts a lot.

I actually read books with voices in my head. That helps me set the setting. TBH, there's like a whole movie in my head whenever I read books. I also used to read books out loud, dialogues and all. That helped me a lot with my pronunciation.
