It's just how it is sometimes. But you're right - they could have used prosthetics. However - and I actually agree with this to an extent because our bodies are actually quite malleable with the right conditions and education (that Hollywood actors have ample access to) - Directors and production alike like to see their top billed actors really try to embody the character (method) as much as possible. I think there is an argument in there that had he gained weight like Austin did (or this is just for any role demanding body modification), he might have felt more and operated more sluggish / off his game / etc which would have led to a technically better and more impressive performance. Quick example - Millie Bobby Brown as a kid actually having her head shaved to play 11. I think it helps the actual actor suspend belief even for themselves where they can add more nuances to characters that aren't personal nuances.

Right 😂. Imagine just being born 6’5, viciously handsome, and incapable of not having a 6 pack. Jacob Elordi is such a unit
Butler did a fine impression, but it wasn't much of a performance, it was just a regurgitation of already known iconography. Not to say he did a bad job, but it was nothing to write home about. Elordi, on the other hand, has to straddle the line between being a creep and the most charming man alive and he did a great job of it. To me there is just no contest, weight gain or not.

Let's be honest he went from playing a sociopath in Euphoria to playing a sociopath in Priscilla
Its important to do some research. Austin Butler did not gain any weight for the role. It was a fat suit by the end of the movie. He also said ge tried gaining weight but couldn't because he's naturally a skinny guy
Jacob is fine either way. He did a beautiful job .
Genuine curiosity: Are we sure he really wants to gain the weight? Elordi is tall, handsome, and maybe doesn't want to gain a lot of weight to play a role.

Sometimes Tall people don’t gain weight easily. Especially if their metabolism is fast! Me I’m short and can easily gain weight. And I don’t even eat a ton. Sometimes I go the whole day without eating. But I have the body type that stores fat easily.

I am 6 ft 5 with a fast metabolism and I have often wanted to gain weight, but the prospect of actually getting it does scare me which is probably partly why I've only ever gotten up to 180 at age 30 and I was never that heavy again. When all you have all your abs, it's scary to think of losing them. Classic ectomorph move. My point is that maybe he did worry about it. And he just couldn't get it done. Also, focusing on bacon, which is a protein source, was wrong move.

For the people saying “nice problem” I swear to you it is not it is a never ending cycle of vomiting even over the though of food, dropping 50 pounds in the course of a week if you DONT eat the bare minimum, and still having force more shit down your throat even though your body is screaming at you telling you to stop, yes it may be a less talked about issue than the other end of the spectrum but its just as horrific to experience and I only scratched the bare minimum
if they can make chris hemsworth visually 80 pounds bigger with a fat suit and make chris evan's visually 80 pounds lighter/skinnier with cgi, i think it's possible to do either without issue

Tbh his role as elvis was like an accessory to Priscilla who was the main focus on the film. So they probably just did not want to spend the money. I actually enjoyed this movie more than the elvis one cause it was more aesthetic and subtle.

Yall don’t realize that just like losing weight is almost impossible for some ppl, on the other end are slimmer ppl who can’t GAIN weight
suffering from success
I can understand this. It took me 2 years of being unhealthy, like eating whatever and not working out at all to get to be 70kg. My health specialist still called me underweight no less, I was supposed to be 75kgs. The moment I stepped into that gym I lost 5kg like that. I didn't even mess with the diet.
He was more believable to me than Austin Butler imo! ❤
Christian Bale for the “The Machinist” has entered the chat then for “Batman Begins”
A lesser elvis... that has got to be a compliment 😂😂

Must be nice
The movie was enjoyable (and heartbreaking) but Elordi is the weakest Elvis ever. I don’t understand how he got the gig. He doesn’t look like Elvis, doesn’t speak like him (actually his mumbling was nearly unintelligible at times), doesn’t have the right build, facial features, mannerisms, nothing. He bears such little resemblance to Elvis that it diminishes the impact of the storytelling. just my opinion!

They could’ve used prosthetics if someone could not gain weight. For the movie, The Whale, Brendan Fraser‘s character was very obese and wore a fat suit and prosthetics and in the movie you can’t even tell. It looked like he was naturally that overweight. So it can be achieved.
I wish I had that superpower. Which I did, when I was in my 20s I would eat anything and never get any weight, I was literally paperweight Nothing of that sort in my thirties, though
I want to be jacob elordi

Off topic but he looks a lot like mr Big from Sex & the City. Are they related?
How horrible for him…
I think jacob looks more elvis than Buttler the voice , looks , personality was top notch.
jared leto and christian bale habitually gained and lost a lot of wieght for roles. This commitment is looked favorably by the oscars and put actors in a higher calibre group.

I refuse to believe people saying they can't gain weight, come and copy my lifestyle for 1 month ans you'll gain 60 pounds 😅
I wosh i could eat a pound of bacon a day and not gain weight. I miss a day at the gym and gain 3lbs.
He could've just ate pizza and burgers every day, you'll gain weight
He’s 7ft
The taller you are the more energy you require to just move and live, the bacon was just dumb though. That’s barely even trying, that’s just food that’s going to make you poorly, in the worst ways. It kind of sounds like he wasn’t trying to put on way but to raise his sodium levels to dangerous amounts so he could stop. That’s just such a dumb thing to do, I can’t believe it was purposeful. Butler was obsessed with that film making it big. Producers/directors shouldn’t be allowing that. Elordie could’ve damaged himself longterm by eating that much salty foods.
I liked Jacob’s Elvis better he seemed more real
Seriously bring back the fat suit and cgi only for unhealthy waits make America movies health

Jacob was a better Elvis. Much more human.
well, if he's trying to make pretty much everyone on earth hate him, he's doing a bang-up job
“The lesser Elvis” OUCH. 🤕 I hate to say it, but he was a bit annoying in that role.
That’s because bacon doesn’t add weight 🤦🏼♀️ it’ll do the opposite, because fat and protein are GOOD for you and bacon is actually not a bad food on its own. Excess carbs and sugar would have easily done the trick
It’s not the weight, he just looks nothing like Elvis, way too effeminate, totally wrong facial structure, it just doesn’t work
Why cant they just use deep fake…i hate watching movies with actors that will never look like elvis…i love watching the deep fake movies on youtube more
Bro your face it’s like just lips talking 👁️ 👄 👁️
Bacon is a terrible strategy. It’s so salty and has so much extra crap that will make you sick. All he needed to do was milkshakes and burgers and fries.
So jealous
Omg don’t be mean to my hubby
I wasn’t super impressed with Butler’s portrayal and from what I’ve seen of the commercials Elordi is much more convincing as Elvis.
He just wasn't that good at playing elvis. It had nothing to do with his weight
