i know your feels people are like " yeah don't need you in the industry, already have jacob collier. but music is about art and self, even if you are not very skilled or you don't sell, your music has a place in someone heart, believe me." so i don't know maybe you're talking about working in music, but keep playing and keep improving your skills and on top of that "yourself".

The string slipped. It was in no way intentional. He does it before at 4:43 too, while playing those bass lines. Then continues to adjust. That string is pretty grossly out of tune, no where near equal OR just temperament. Idk if he has been experimenting with string tunings on his bass during live shows. Im sure he will. Though I believe he likes to keep the bass note equally tempered, while justly harmonizing above the fundamental.

Everyone is so polarized lol. Some of Jacob’s music hits me emotionally; some doesn’t. Fields of gold didn’t really do it for me, but I found this whole jam super catchy. He is incredibly talented, but art is all about compromise. Sometimes minimalism is key, other times it degrades music by making everything sound the same. Jacob definitely isn’t a minimalist, but I appreciate that he doesn’t water down his genius grasp of theory.

I've read that he has the looping / samples STRUCTURE predefined, then he fills it in real time with his voice and the instruments. So he knows that whatever he plays, e.g. in the second 8-bar phrase is coming back in the 128th bar (or whatever). So he has to live perform it, while keeping in mind which parts he lays down when and where, and how they will fit together when they come back in.

BRILLIANT!!!!! Say what you want but he just got 2 sets of untrained (most likely) musicians to sing in some kind of syncopation while changing keys and non of them ever did that before! Wow! By the end everyone is almost like right on it! So wow cool! Omg the lyrics and his vocals leave something to be desired albeit he ran around like a mad man playing over 5 instruments while keeping perfect time and singing two sets of lyrics. Geez. If you have a complaint about this it’s because you have no idea the awesomeness you just heard! Congrats Jacob! I’m a fan of the joy you get while we enjoying together the music you make! Sincerely, Josh

dude the audience ar ebarely singing at all - its blatantly a backing track. Don;t get me wrong= I have seen some great singing at the Jacob Colliers shows - just not at this one..they were barely a crowd and they were barely participating at all - definitely not enough to make what we were hearing

What really strikes me is his extraordinary bass playing. He does his Jaco thing, while most other guys would just boringly slap. And he does this along with great singing. Oh my..
