Perhaps they found that the story doesn't make sense at all. How can some body who deceive another gets away with it just fine? How can some body lie and its ok? There is something about this story that is missing.

For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.

There is no head or tail to your interpretation, so confusing. A lie is a lie, a deception is a deception. Clearly, there is something missing from the story. It would be childish to interpret it blindly. Does seeking truth matter at all to people of the scripture?

A lot had to do with the culture at that time. Plus, the firstborn usually had more responsibility put upon him too. Now, Esau was a hunter. He would be gone for long periods of time. He would set traps for his prey, lying in wait..., (not a righteous character - sneaky) and then would humor his father to gain favor with him when he was around. He was selfish and did whatever he wanted. On the other hand, Jacob hung around the tents and could see what the people “needed” as a leader and it wasn’t Esau. The lentil soup! Esau was about “self gratification” Jacob thought of others and especially the blessings of Abraham etc. by Elohim and as you saw Esau did not care about that personal relationship with Elohim. Plus, this is about the lineage of the Messiah to come and Esau was not worthy to receive such a blessing. He had not the character/integrity required to be a man of Elohim. Jacob was obeying his mother! Remember, “the older brother would serve the younger brother.” Isaac was disobeying Elohim by offering Esau the blessing in the first place. Jacob’s name means “heel grabber.” Stopping Esau from smashing in his head at birth. “Two nations” were inside of Rebecca and that one nation still wants to hurt the people of Elohim. Also, he paid the price for that lie when his own sons told him that Joseph, the son that he truly loved, was dead (a lie) and they let him believe an animal had ripped him apart. He was never the same after that. But, Elohim had plans for Joseph! He would lead the nation of Egypt, the known world at that time, and his own people through a seven-year famine etc. There they would grow into a mighty people in the best land that Egypt had - the land of Goshen. The Bible teaches that we are “forgiven for our sins,” but nowhere does it say we won’t pay the price for our behavior. He paid the price! When he himself was deceived by Laban and married Leah and when he was deceived by his own sons. I hope this puts things in a little more perspective for you.
