the reason the charger fluid is blue is the same as atf being red. if you find fluid on the ground, you can tell what it is
Love the build so far, thank you for sharing the adventure. Cannot wait for more 86 action.

If you are using the exhaust heat wrap or any fiber glass; you can use duct tape on your hands to remove the glass strands stuck in your hands.
This is the best car channel on KZread
I love your channel guys, especially how you don't cheap out on stuff. My mates always hassle me about spending on quality parts when there's something cheaper (but what they don't consider is that usually that cheaper stuff breaks easily, and fits poorly), but that's unfortunately what most people who own S chassis are like. Refreshing to see you using the S14 and this car for grip rather than drift! Keep it up, hope my S14 can be at that standard some time soon!

STEELERS743 the struggle is real! We'd love to have a lift but the ceilings are too low in our current space. Someday we'll buy/build/rent a fancier shop space with enough head room for a lift..and 240V...and heat in the winter :)
Subbed!!!!!! I'm amazed with how easy and fast it was for the Engine to come in and out of the FRS AND how easy and fast the Supercharger went in the FRS! I'm a beginner, and after watching the swap and addition of the Supercharger, I feel like I could easily work with this car if I got one. Great videos guys, enjoyed this series and I hope you guys make more videos the same way you did this FRS series. Thanks

Hello guys great work keep going! Question is this frs still going how many miles have you put in the car with the supercharger and how reliable its been for you? Thx in advance.
Very nice video. I am considering a supercharger for my 240z with a stock 280zx, 5 speed and Lsi 3.9 r/e. I want more low end, 2000-3000. I saw a 240 in the back ground in your shop. any thoughts? What videos have you done on your 240 and how do I find them?
how much weight did you guys gain from the kit? would it throw off the weight balance? If it does, would you be able to notice or does it harm the performance at all? I know, so many questions. Looking forward for response, thanks guys. Keep up the good work.

hi am about to install this set up too thus the tools on manual is all we need?
how is the fuel efficiency on 91 octane for that super charger system? City/highway mpg should expect within what ranges?
Just out of curiosity, could you have done this without removing that headlight? Worst case scenario I’ll do it but I remember having issues with the wiring in my headlights so I’d love to avoid that if possible
Can this be added to a stock brz without any problems or will you have to upgrade any engine internals?
Are you gonna beef up the injectors or tune it at all? Don't wanna lean it out and blow the new engine
What are your opinion on Jackson Racing Superchargers? Have you done any installs on GSR Integra? Any advice of going on that direction? Or go Kraftwerks? B18C1 Motor
hi, I have a Jackson racing c38 kit and live in Vegas so you know 100c + temps. What brand and weight oil you recommend? my car is daily driver and the occasional drag race maybe once every 3 months
i install the kit and my car wouldn't start with the new map sensor so i had to tune my car with the factory map sensor what was the problem
Can the Jackson racing be installed with stock everything
Hey dudes i want to built a supercharge on my FRS do you need to replace any part of the stock motor for the Jackson racing supercharge ? Or you can leave everything original?
Hey guys, does the FRS not have the same boxer motor in it? Why swap an FA-20 in it, isn't it the same engine?
Do you recommend the sprintex SC for daily driver? Will I get heal soak issues with daily driving?
awesome Danish supercharger!
hi, I have couple questions. how reliable is that setup? reliable than a 480whp sti on extensive track days? how much does this system cost? as I seen on video after installing supercharger, you did not tune the ecu. how is that possible? thank you in advanced

Hey guys, is anyone running a Jackson Super charger with the CRAWFORD BPB INTAKE MANIFOLD SPACER? you guys think i'll run into issues?
Also, what was your total time for the install?
How do you replace the belt on the go?
I literally couldn't stop laughing when you fired it up and it was ridiculously loud on cam! Did you get a chance to see if it was actually whiter while driving? I love exhaust install vids

Daniel Tojcic Yeah, we've come to the realization that without switching back to stock headers the exhaust will always be loud. It is quieter driving around though.
did you change the injectors?

Nice build. Good idea going with supercharger. Are you guys building these cars as hobby or run a tune shop in your city? Are you guys finished with s2000?
@speedacademydave
9 жыл бұрын
jorges2000 still going strong on the S2000. Lots more to come. We have a private "shop" we work out of (a converted chicken coop, lol), but we don't work on other people's cars for money. We're former magazine editors (Modified Mag), so Speed Academy is our way of still doing what we love (building project cars, testing aftermarket performance parts, and sharing it all with our readers/viewers).
What about the most important part - the tune? Did JR provide some piggy back to pull timing and an AF controller, or is there some stand-alone you guys are running, or what?

MrSlowestD16 We have EcuTek and will be headed to a dyno very soon for a full tune.

@speedacademy
9 жыл бұрын
***** we wanted something simple and reliable for Ontario1500, since it's a really gruelling event with 7 straight days of racing. The Jackson Racing kit is proven to be super reliable on the street and at the track, so it should be a really good fit for this event. There are other ways to make more power, of course, but reliability was our first concern, and at around 280-300whp (just a guesstimate at this point) it should be a really well balanced package with the rest of our FR-S's setup.
@justintime6160
9 жыл бұрын
Speed Academy Thats fair and reliability is key especially with 7 days of straight torture for the car! however another questions; why did you guys stick with the stock/same engine from the cars base? why not a jz or a rb? or something along those lines?
@speedacademy
9 жыл бұрын
Couple reasons we stuck with the FA20. First was cost. Doing a 2JZ or RB swap is big, big bucks and we simply don't have the budget for it this year. Second was the need to prep the car on a fairly tight deadline and have it well sorted in time for ON1500. We've learned the hard way more than once that trying to do a difficult engine swap and then sort out all the bugs on a tight deadline is a recipe for failure. We knew we could simply put a fresher FA20 in quickly and easily and add the power we think we need to be competitive at an event like ON1500 via a well sorted and proven reliable S/C kit like JR's. But we do reserve the right to be stupid and do a crazy swap next year! :P
Someone explain to me why the MAF isnt on the inlet of the supercharger? Do these things have MAFs and MAP sensors? Last time I checked a MAF can't sense boost.
@speedacademy
8 жыл бұрын
Because MAFs can be calibrated to read positive pressure, it's called a blow-thru setup and is common on NA vehicles that are being turbo or supercharged.
Guys so you have gone in with standard OE injectors and you haven't altered the ECU and now you're pumping what 7-8 PSI, so haven't you run the risk of running the pistons dry? ie on thin mixture like under 12:1? Also you won't get any extra power unless the fuel flow is cranked up. Did any of that get addressed before you started her up for the first time.
@speedacademy
8 жыл бұрын
+gus bisbal I think you need to watch this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aoxtxq1peMLIiag.html As for the supercharger operating during idle and cruising, it's not making any significant boost so the car runs and drives fine on the OEM map.
👌
you guys rock!!!!
considering this kit for a daily driver. do you think it will be able to handle some of our colder canadian days?
@speedacademy
9 жыл бұрын
ThroughFallenEyes Most certainly. As long as you have it tuned properly, the winter should bring no issues other than traction ofcourse. :)
I'd really like it if you could answer my question please speed academy... does it require a remap before it gains the full benefit?
@speedacademy
9 жыл бұрын
+Christopher Hargreaves For the max HP/TQ gains, yes a full remap is required but you can get the off the shelf tune which will be slightly less aggressive and still make good power.
how's the supercharger for lower and mid range power? also is that the c30 or c38?

How much boost can you run safely on that boxer engines stock internals? or are they upgraded components?
@speedacademy
8 жыл бұрын
+Zaya Young The engine is all stock and we've heard you can run 12-14psi safely depending on tune and gas.
question for you guys? after installing the sc. are you guys running all stock internals from fuel pump, pistons etc etc.. or did you guys go forged !?
@speedacademy
8 жыл бұрын
+ricardo juarez Everything is stock internals, stock fuel injectors. We think the fuel pump may have been upgraded but we dont know forsure.
I want that......
Wouldnt you also need larger fuel injectors and a tune?
@speedacademydave
9 жыл бұрын
aceofclubskid definitely needs a tune (though you can buy this kit with a supplied tune but we opted for the self-tune kit since we already have an Ecutek and our buddy Sasha from OnPoint Dyno to tune it). At the standard boost level the stock injectors and fuel pump are sufficient, but if we upgrade to the higher boost pulley we'll need bigger injectors and a higher flow rate pump.
Why super over turbo?
did you need to change anything in the fuel system. also did you change the ecu?
@speedacademy
8 жыл бұрын
+James Whiting No change in the fuel system and the ECU needs to be re-flashed, if you watch the Dyno tuning episode you'll see the process.
Why a centrifugal supercharger and not a twin screw like Cosworth does? The Cosworth stage 1.3 and 2 packages seem to be a very safe and reliable choice while still putting out some impressive power figures.
@speedacademy
9 жыл бұрын
Spencer Staub There wasn't enough real world experience with the Cosworth for us to get it. The Jackson Racing system has been proven at the track which is what we really were after.

Hi Speed Academy. I m viewing the all video list and there is a problem in your build : you swap your FA20 in video 3 and put 5w20 oil in. You installed the JR S/C in video 4 but never spoke about changing the engine Oil. You did a Dyno in Video 5. But you never spoke about the Engine Oil. You ran a S/C FA20 with 5w20 oil ??
@speedacademy
7 жыл бұрын
Yes, we still run the same 5w20 oil. There's no need to change it out as the engine is still all internally stock. We just ensure we have a proper race oil or high performance synthetic.
carb tune or custom tune? I have a carb tune on mine. But i'm interested in other options..
@speedacademy
8 жыл бұрын
+Jonathan Hung Custom tune, watch the next episode and you'll see how it does with the custom tune. If you can get it properly tuned we highly recommend it, you'll pick up a bunch more power in the process.
Can you please already install the kraftwerks v2 with 95mm pulley and the c38-92 supercharger? 18psi? 500hp? guys with 100 mm pulley, stock everything except for a berk TP, and the c38-91 made 460WHP!!
@speedacademy
9 жыл бұрын
Tony Nguyen The engine won't handle that much power stock and without race gas. Plus the transmission becomes a weak link. We may do a smaller pulley in the near future after our event but for now we need to make sure the engine stays together and is reliable.
I have been following your channel. All good stuff. Just out of curiosity though; What was the reason to choose a supercharger over going the turbocharger route. Impressive build by the way?
@speedacademy
8 жыл бұрын
+Lance McLean Less stress on the engine, less heat, and a more reliable package. We love turbos but for an event like we are doing reliability is key hence why the supercharger was the best way to go.

@PLAYERUOFFICIAL

+Speed Academy I thought you would blow your motor by doing that because people told me or recommended that if I were to super charge my frs then I should redo my motor
So I'm confused. I thought when you add forced induction you then have to tune the car, but they just bolted it right on and started it up.
@speedacademy
8 жыл бұрын
+Nighthawk2112 That's because at idle and even low load driving the engine still operates like it did before the supercharger. We drove the car this way to the dyno, being very light on the gas and it drove completely fine. The moment that you switch out injectors or map/maf sensors is when the car won't run properly and will need to get tuned right away. Make sense?
@Nighthawk-lr9km
8 жыл бұрын
Yea ok, that does actually makes sense. Thanks for the answer.
Turbo charger?
Do you have any guesstimates on the number it will put down? Or any expectations your hoping for? Any water to meth injection planned for the future?
@speedacademydave
9 жыл бұрын
Scott M. I'm guessing 280-290whp on the regular pulley. We may upgrade to the higher boost pulley before Ontario1500 (in mid Sept), which would certainly put the car over 300whp on 94 octane pump gas. We had considered water/meth, but Jackson Racing didn't feel it was worthwhile with the regular boost pulley and our high quality pump gas.
why is the intake not needed anymore?
@ethownzbh

The had a new intake that was specifically for the rotrex.
Chuck a C38-91 on this or the ass2000! the smaller blowers are underwhelming.
@speedacademy

Roger1379 We are thinking of upgrading to a bigger blower in the future but right now we just need a reliable setup.
Are you guys going to consider using water/meth in this like the grip S14? Would add that little extra horses.
@speedacademydave
9 жыл бұрын
Daniel P.S we did consider it, but Oscar Jackson Jr. felt it was unnecessary if we're running 94 octane pump gas like we can get here in Ontario. We may also add some race gas concentrate for a little extra protection. We haven't tested it yet, but it sounds promising. Check it out at race-gas.com and let us know what you think.
@Bunchofhelmets
9 жыл бұрын
David Pratte Had a quick read through and it seems promising, but can see it getting finicky getting the mixtures correct unless you've got a big batch pre-mixed ready to go. Look forwards to seeing what you guys do with it.
@speedacademydave
9 жыл бұрын
Ya, I agree, getting the mix consistent is the challenge. I think if we add a container of concentrate to a 20L jug and then top the jug up to the Full line we'd have a consistent method. Sounds like work to me, but work that could offer some safety and/or extra power so may well be worth. We plan to dyno test with it to see how well it works.
Ooh buddy! POOWWAAAA
does anyone know what intake they put in at the end?
@speedacademy
8 жыл бұрын
+Hobo Hamo That's the intake that comes with the JAckson Racing Supercharger kit.
Don't you have to reprogram the EMS before firing it up? Jackson warns that failing to do so will destroy the engine.
@MrLatex-fk9rj
5 жыл бұрын
Christopher Miller yes you do, it comes with a tune tho, and if you bought it without the tune, just take it to a shop to install and they'll help out with it, that will cost u money tho, but anytime you change how the engine works you'll probably need a tune.
Why didn't you guys just bypass the ac ? Instead of leaving a pulley. Just get a shorter belt. Curious
@speedacademy

Because the path of the way the belt runs needs to have the AC pulley in tact to keep the belt on the supercharger tight.

Can you explain how exactly air flows at 12:05? Thanks
@speedacademy
8 жыл бұрын
+Yiyang BAO Air comes through the air filter and then the blades in the supercharger compress the air and force it out into the intercooler piping (the black pipe you see in the video) then it goes into the intercooler where the air is cooled which helps produce more power and reduces chances of knock. It exits the intercooler and runs through the piping and into the throttle body. Hope that explains it!
@baoyiyang
8 жыл бұрын
+Speed Academy perfect! Was wondering why the turbo was just beside the intake but the pipe seems traveled a long way - but cooling explains it! Thank you so much
