    If you are using the exhaust heat wrap or any fiber glass; you can use duct tape on your hands to remove the glass strands stuck in your hands.

    I love your channel guys, especially how you don't cheap out on stuff. My mates always hassle me about spending on quality parts when there's something cheaper (but what they don't consider is that usually that cheaper stuff breaks easily, and fits poorly), but that's unfortunately what most people who own S chassis are like. Refreshing to see you using the S14 and this car for grip rather than drift! Keep it up, hope my S14 can be at that standard some time soon!

    Subbed!!!!!! I'm amazed with how easy and fast it was for the Engine to come in and out of the FRS AND how easy and fast the Supercharger went in the FRS! I'm a beginner, and after watching the swap and addition of the Supercharger, I feel like I could easily work with this car if I got one. Great videos guys, enjoyed this series and I hope you guys make more videos the same way you did this FRS series. Thanks

  • @speedacademy

    @speedacademy

    ***** we wanted something simple and reliable for Ontario1500, since it's a really gruelling event with 7 straight days of racing. The Jackson Racing kit is proven to be super reliable on the street and at the track, so it should be a really good fit for this event. There are other ways to make more power, of course, but reliability was our first concern, and at around 280-300whp (just a guesstimate at this point) it should be a really well balanced package with the rest of our FR-S's setup.

  • @justintime6160

    @justintime6160

    9 жыл бұрын

    Speed Academy Thats fair and reliability is key especially with 7 days of straight torture for the car! however another questions; why did you guys stick with the stock/same engine from the cars base? why not a jz or a rb? or something along those lines?

  • @speedacademy

    @speedacademy

    9 жыл бұрын

    Couple reasons we stuck with the FA20. First was cost. Doing a 2JZ or RB swap is big, big bucks and we simply don't have the budget for it this year. Second was the need to prep the car on a fairly tight deadline and have it well sorted in time for ON1500. We've learned the hard way more than once that trying to do a difficult engine swap and then sort out all the bugs on a tight deadline is a recipe for failure. We knew we could simply put a fresher FA20 in quickly and easily and add the power we think we need to be competitive at an event like ON1500 via a well sorted and proven reliable S/C kit like JR's. But we do reserve the right to be stupid and do a crazy swap next year! :P

    Someone explain to me why the MAF isnt on the inlet of the supercharger? Do these things have MAFs and MAP sensors? Last time I checked a MAF can't sense boost.

  • @speedacademy

    @speedacademy

    8 жыл бұрын

    Because MAFs can be calibrated to read positive pressure, it's called a blow-thru setup and is common on NA vehicles that are being turbo or supercharged.

    Guys so you have gone in with standard OE injectors and you haven't altered the ECU and now you're pumping what 7-8 PSI, so haven't you run the risk of running the pistons dry? ie on thin mixture like under 12:1? Also you won't get any extra power unless the fuel flow is cranked up. Did any of that get addressed before you started her up for the first time.

  • @speedacademy

    @speedacademy

    8 жыл бұрын

    +gus bisbal I think you need to watch this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aoxtxq1peMLIiag.html As for the supercharger operating during idle and cruising, it's not making any significant boost so the car runs and drives fine on the OEM map.

    aceofclubskid definitely needs a tune (though you can buy this kit with a supplied tune but we opted for the self-tune kit since we already have an Ecutek and our buddy Sasha from OnPoint Dyno to tune it). At the standard boost level the stock injectors and fuel pump are sufficient, but if we upgrade to the higher boost pulley we'll need bigger injectors and a higher flow rate pump.

    Hi Speed Academy. I m viewing the all video list and there is a problem in your build : you swap your FA20 in video 3 and put 5w20 oil in. You installed the JR S/C in video 4 but never spoke about changing the engine Oil. You did a Dyno in Video 5. But you never spoke about the Engine Oil. You ran a S/C FA20 with 5w20 oil ??

  • @speedacademy

    @speedacademy

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yes, we still run the same 5w20 oil. There's no need to change it out as the engine is still all internally stock. We just ensure we have a proper race oil or high performance synthetic.

    Can you please already install the kraftwerks v2 with 95mm pulley and the c38-92 supercharger? 18psi? 500hp? guys with 100 mm pulley, stock everything except for a berk TP, and the c38-91 made 460WHP!!

    Tony Nguyen The engine won't handle that much power stock and without race gas. Plus the transmission becomes a weak link. We may do a smaller pulley in the near future after our event but for now we need to make sure the engine stays together and is reliable.

    I have been following your channel. All good stuff. Just out of curiosity though; What was the reason to choose a supercharger over going the turbocharger route. Impressive build by the way?

  • @speedacademy

    +Lance McLean Less stress on the engine, less heat, and a more reliable package. We love turbos but for an event like we are doing reliability is key hence why the supercharger was the best way to go.

  • @speedacademy

    @speedacademy

    +Nighthawk2112 That's because at idle and even low load driving the engine still operates like it did before the supercharger. We drove the car this way to the dyno, being very light on the gas and it drove completely fine. The moment that you switch out injectors or map/maf sensors is when the car won't run properly and will need to get tuned right away. Make sense?

    Scott M. I'm guessing 280-290whp on the regular pulley. We may upgrade to the higher boost pulley before Ontario1500 (in mid Sept), which would certainly put the car over 300whp on 94 octane pump gas. We had considered water/meth, but Jackson Racing didn't feel it was worthwhile with the regular boost pulley and our high quality pump gas.

  • @speedacademydave

    @speedacademydave

    9 жыл бұрын

    Daniel P.S we did consider it, but Oscar Jackson Jr. felt it was unnecessary if we're running 94 octane pump gas like we can get here in Ontario. We may also add some race gas concentrate for a little extra protection. We haven't tested it yet, but it sounds promising. Check it out at race-gas.com and let us know what you think.

    David Pratte Had a quick read through and it seems promising, but can see it getting finicky getting the mixtures correct unless you've got a big batch pre-mixed ready to go. Look forwards to seeing what you guys do with it.

  • @speedacademydave

    @speedacademydave

    9 жыл бұрын

    Ya, I agree, getting the mix consistent is the challenge. I think if we add a container of concentrate to a 20L jug and then top the jug up to the Full line we'd have a consistent method. Sounds like work to me, but work that could offer some safety and/or extra power so may well be worth. We plan to dyno test with it to see how well it works.

    Christopher Miller yes you do, it comes with a tune tho, and if you bought it without the tune, just take it to a shop to install and they'll help out with it, that will cost u money tho, but anytime you change how the engine works you'll probably need a tune.

    Why didn't you guys just bypass the ac ? Instead of leaving a pulley. Just get a shorter belt. Curious

  • @speedacademy

    @speedacademy

    Because the path of the way the belt runs needs to have the AC pulley in tact to keep the belt on the supercharger tight.

    Can you explain how exactly air flows at 12:05? Thanks

  • @speedacademy

    @speedacademy

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Yiyang BAO Air comes through the air filter and then the blades in the supercharger compress the air and force it out into the intercooler piping (the black pipe you see in the video) then it goes into the intercooler where the air is cooled which helps produce more power and reduces chances of knock. It exits the intercooler and runs through the piping and into the throttle body. Hope that explains it!
