    Guys, does replacing the Jackson bridge and nut with Original Floyd Rose work? Asking because I m from India. The JS32 is available here ans there are some great deals available too. Unfortunately King Vs with the original FR are not. Even if they are they are stupidly expensive. Getting an original FR set up through a friend in the states sounds like it is easier than actually importing a king v with the original FR set up. Requesting your advice pls!

    I'd say get the JS32 and block it. Despite the trem its a quality guitar. Glue a piece of wood in the back of it so it goes down only (Look up blocking a Floyd for a better description of what to do) It's just as fun as a fully floating trem but MUCH easier to live with. Can turn a guitar with a questionable quality trem into something that stay in tune, give you no trouble restringing, and you can change tunings all you want.... While being just as fun

    Maybe you should get some stainless steel saddles from aliexpress. From what I can tell, this is a floyd rose 1000 series baseplate with the floyd rose special saddles. I believe many guitar companies are branding floyd rose bridge with their own names, including also LTD and Schecter. If I am correct, the baseplate should be hardened, so the weak link are the saddles. You would save so much money by doing that... you also can change your block to a bigger size or a different material, change the screws, change the inserts. It most likely will outperform a stock floyd rose original for much less money.

    More time is required in setup for cheap floydish systems.for any needing advice, a good place to start would be to adjust your spring tension. Maybe even remove/add one. Or angle them.it depends on your gauge and tuning. Just because the bridge is in the right position and in tune, doesn't mean it will stay that way. Try to get it to stay in tune with a fair amount of tremolo use BEFORE locking the nut. Also make sure your strings are stretched considerably before you lock them.

    When you said “I felt it slip a little bit” and it was suddenly in tune again, my jaw dropped, because that’s exactly what it’s like on mine. If I bend it up too far, it doesn’t sit right when it comes back down and the guitar goes out of tune. But if I bring it down slightly after, I feel it slip just a little bit, so it goes into place and it’s back in tune.

  • @corbinsmith6777

    Quick tip: if you replace the nut with an authentic FR nut it stays in tune almost perfectly. The metal they use for cheaper nuts is not strong enough to really lock down the strings, so it slips a little here and there. But if you put a high quality nut on there it can really make all the difference.

    Got myself Warrior JS32 and the bridge is rock solid on that one. It ofc won't hold up well with new strings, they need some time of playing till they get properly stretched. I had issues only with low E, so I just tighetened the screw holding the string in the bridge a bit, went completely crazy on the whammy bar for whole minute, retuned, and the problem was gone. I didn't have to adjust the tension of the bridge springs at all though and since then, the entire guitar is snapping exactly into tune. Also, playing open G or any open chord for the matter on heavy distortion is sacriledge and a terrible choice for trying to judge how in tune it is. Play couple of power chords on different strings or use tuner, open chord will always sound like trash even when in tune. Last but not least, after just letting go of the whammy bar, the bridge may need a bit of help to get back to the neutral position, and a single bend or touch in the opposite direction of the previous movement helps with that. Which is probably heavily accented on a new bridge on a cheap guitar, and it just needs some work and wear before it actually does what it's supposed to. Probably what happened to you at 4:25.

  • @SpywareVA
    @SpywareVA3 ай бұрын

    Dunno if there's anyone here that has tuning instability problems. It could stem from the triangular orientation of the springs. If it persists, try one of these methods Change the orientation of the springs, so they're all going vertically in parallel. You can also add a spring at the bass side of the strings. This one worked for me on a JS32 Kelly Alternative option is tightening the springs at the bass strings side.

    I could make the same or torture it even harder with my guitar (got the same but black) and I'll keep almost perfectly tuned. As some other comments mentioned, it's not just all about the bridge, if your guitar is not properly calibrated you'll get untuned even with the most expensive original floyd rose. And by "calibrated" I don't mean only bridge stuff but calibration in all the means. And yes, most of the cheap/mid-price guitars come not well calibrated at all because it's "manual" work to do and they're built with CNCs. Gonna upload a similar test later if you wanna come to check it and my other just-starting content. Thanks for sharing it!! And nice amp over there ;)

    I’ve had a few cheap copy Floyd’s and I once had an Ibanez RG with the Ibanez version locking tremolo which until now was probably the best overall quality and performance trem I’d ever played. Then last year I bought a pre owned ESP off an online seller, it was dirt cheap because it had some chunks and chips in the body, it was supposed to be fitted from new with a Floyd Rose Special but the seller had taken it out and put a cheap £30 piece of crap that had to be locked off permanently as it was just really poorly made. Then a few weeks back I got a JS32 arch top with the Jackson Floyd for £100, like new condition. It’s by far the nicest thing I’ve ever played, and considering the tremolos I’ve had in the past, this thing is so nice to be able to use properly at last, I’d say the fine tuners are a little bit roughly threaded and I might look into loobing them a bit to make them smoother to turn, but the tremolo itself just feels so good, smooth and responsive, and i finally have confidence that I can use it, then let it go and it’s back in tune, I haven’t really abused it though to be fair I’m still learning to use it, but it’s easily the best locking tremolo I’ve had/played. I am worried it might wear and tear over time though so I am thinking of either splashing out on a Original Floyd Rose, not the special the better one, or I’ve read the Gotoh ones are really decent for around a similar price as the ofr. I want to put a dime bucker in my bridge position too. I feel like this guitar is a good base point to upgrade and is definitely worthy of some better parts. I absolutely love my dinky

    Thanks for the question! I go straight into the amp from the guitar. No effects or pedals. My amp EQ is generally Bass at about 1 o’clock. Mids around 10-11 o’clock. And treble is generally turned all the way up. I also keep my gain very high as it helps with harmonics.

    Hello Stu! So, I’ve played this guitar (the non-tremolo version JS32T) in white and I quite liked it except for getting used to sit with it on the guitar. I’m planning to buy the Pro Series RR24Q in Transparent Purple now, what do you think, should I go for it or the Schecter C-1 FR SLS Elite? I liked the sound of the guitar, but, the main problems are still the Licensed Floyd-Rose. :)

    Hey Sapphire! The Jackson Pro series comes with a legit Floyd Rose 1000 Series. So it should be perfectly fine. I have a Pro series King V and it the FR is great. Schecter makes real good guitars. I have a White Hellraiser V from them and I absolutely love it. It is hard tail so I can’t speak to their locking system but either guitar you get will be a solid purchase. That transparent purple is sick, though.

    Stu's World yes brother, so, I discussed about buying the C-1 FR SLS Elite with my guitar instructor, and he told me not to buy it, he says the guitar isn’t worth $1,260 according to him because it used Swamp Ash and he said that I will not get good clean tones from that guitar. I really like that guitar from the finish to the pickups, man, there are so many options like the Jackson SL2Q MAH that I’m going crazy. Another good option is the ESP LTD KH-602 Kirk Hammett Signature, the only guitar at this price point that comes with a case. I’m stuck, I like the classyness of the RR but the comfortable playability of the rest. Help please! :(

    Hi Stu. I'd like to ask if you could spare a couple minutes of your time and give me some advice please. I'm in the market for a new HH solid body Git. I can only spend 300 max on it and an amp. Since I live in an apartment im going with the vox amplug for the amp leaving me about 250 for the guitar. I've narrowed it down to 3 brands possibly 4, and what I like to know is which guitar will be most playable/dependable right out of the box along with reasonable sound and tone. If you were stuck in my shoes which would you chose: 1. Squier H H Strat or Tele standard/deluxe. 2. Epi les Paul or SG specials. 3. Ibanez gio rg120 or rga121 (archtop). *possible 4th. Harley Benton. The problem with HB is shipping is $35 bux. 10% of my available funds. I know you're a busy person so if you can I'd appreciate your opinion. But if you can't reply I totally understand. Either way thanks for the video/ upload. Ps. Classic rock is my primary choice of songs to play. Just an FYI in case that helps.

    Amazing video Stu! I love Floyd-Roses even though I don’t own an electric guitar and never played one except for a Squire Stratocaster HSS in the store. I’m looking to buy my first electric guitar and i want it to be the Jackson Made in Japan White with Black Bevels RR24. These guitars are ultra rare but if the price is right they are worth every penny. I’m choosing it because it has EMG-81, and i love EMG-81s and 85s and it has a Floyd-Rose Original which is guaranteed to survive the hardest of the squeals if it is set-up properly. Plus, 24 frets and that design! I want a little help from you. Can you help me find one? There is the one on Reverb but it costs $1900. I have to live in the streets if i but it. It originally costed maximum $1200 and used ones could be found as low as $600-$700 in mint conditions. But, this one man, they’re asking too much. If it was below $1000 then i would’ve bought it in a heartbeat. Plus, i also have to buy a decent amp and a guitar cable and strap. So, it will be a big buy. :)

It might take awhile but you can find yourself in the position to get what you want with some patience. I've been playing guitar for 20 years and still haven't been able to buy my dream guitar. Hopefully a good deal pops up on craigslist, facebook marketplace, reverb or ebay. Keep on checking. In the meantime, go out and get an amp, strap and cable to get you going. That way you can save back up for the guitar and not have to buy everything all at once. Hope that helps

    Man, you really don't need that... if you live in the states, you have access to amazing gear for cheap prices. There are very few guitars that worth more than 800 bucks, and almost none of them have some brand logo stamped on the headstock. These instruments are priced based on the brand, paying that high amount just for the brand is some gucci buyer level of stupidity. Specially considering you are a beginner , it is not worth at all. If you're all about having that specific model, you can always go to a luthier or some custom guitar shop and pay him/them to custom build a replica, to the highest grade specs of your liking. Most likely will come cheaper, and definitely way better.

    It's how dimebag achieved those high pitched harmonic squeals. It is a little hard to describe what is going on through text but I could make a video on how to grab those harmonics without picking. It's tricky because it requires a ton of gain. You can do the same thing by just picking the natural harmonic and using the whammy bar.

  • @BonuxCouleur
    @BonuxCouleur4 жыл бұрын

    Hi, I don't do dive bomb but I am curious about your comment related to the replacement of the original machine heads. You find the tuners to be pretty useless and I bought a JS32 myself so it begs the question, what would you replace them with? Because of the locking nut, is there any point replacing the machine heads with brand new locking tuners for instance? I hear most people who buy locking tuners for their guitar usually replace the original nut with a graphite nut, but I also understand locking nuts are hard to replace. So if you were to leave the locking nut on, is there a point getting locking tuners is my question I guess? I had a guitar with locking nut a long time ago but I never really bothered to wonder whether these are just designed to prevent the strings to pop out or whether you are supposed to screw them tight to keep them tuned. Locking tuner and locking nut serve the same purpose, don't they?

  • @StusWorld

    @StusWorld

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi Bonux! Thanks for the question. The locking nut is designed to tighten on the strings in conjunction with the Floyd rose bridge. With a “licensed” Floyd rose, you get lower quality parts so they don’t hold as well. Adding locking tuners can be a cheaper/easier fix to add some tightness to the strings and help keep it in tune without having to replace the “licensed” Floyd rose. Replacing the “licensed” FR with an original one would be the best option, but there are many things you can do to a locking system. (Redo springs in many ways, locking nuts, switching to a different locking system, etc). Hope that answered your question.

  • @BonuxCouleur

    @BonuxCouleur

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@StusWorld Thanks for your comprehensive reply, it makes complete sense now. So presumably a "licensed" FR should be the exact same dimensions as an original one if you were to go for the option of replacing it... hopefully. My question is this. Have you changed the strings, or are these the original set ? And, I'm asking because I have the JS32 Rhoads with the licensed Floyd Rose, which I've had for about a year and a half, now, and I've only recently began having some issue with the G string going slightly out of tune, as it still has its' original strings on, which need replacing badly. Could this possibly be the only thing wrong with yours as well ? It's worth a shot, if they haven't been replaced with a quality set.

    500erider man, a year and a half is so tiring for a set of strings. You definitely need to change them ASAP. I guarantee you that your Floyd Rose mounting studs are just worn out. I've noticed that especially with license under Floyd Rose trems. If anyone is reading this comment the trick to licensed Floyd Rose trems is not because of your tuners or your Floyd Rose it typically just is the material on the mounting studs if that doesn't work replace the base plate of the trem not the whole entire thing gives you time to wait until you can fully replace the trem (if you wanna upgrade) do be sure to lubricate with some chapstick or other lubrication tools that way when you are abusing the trem it won't wear the knife edges of the Floyd :)

    Bro I will begin learning guitar soon ..Is it better to get js 22 dinky as it don't have floating tremolo?

    Yeah, I would recommend not getting a floating system. You can also get the JS32T which is the hard tail version of the guitars.

    I bought a JS 32 Soloist and I can tell you that the JS stands for "Just Shitty". It's really more like "Just Fucking Shitty". The allen screws for the nut wouldn't stay screwed in, it sounded like crap, played even worse. My wife said it "Sounds like a toy". I laughed cuz she doesn't know about guitars at all but even she knew it was garbage. Really the only decent Jacksons are the USA Select series, but they cost a fortune anymore.

    I’m no fancy scientist....but it sounds like you are definitely not a fan of the JS line. Hahaha. It is definitely not a guitar I recommend for experienced guitarists as a main that have the cash flow to get more expensive guitars.

    What's the name of this Floyd rose? Because I read jt580lp Floyd rose(found in Jacksons like dk2) is amazing. If JS32 has the same jt580lp then it's for the win I guess

  • @StusWorld

    The Floyd rose just says “Jackson by Floyd Rose”. I don’t think it’s the jt580lp anymore because I had a JS king V about 16 years ago and the Floyd rose was better than this one. I tried looking up the exact model but I couldn’t find anything concrete. Quite annoying.

    turn the guitar over, open the cover behind the bridge and loosen the two screws holding the spring plate (both at the same rate).

    You should also bring it to a pro to have the guitar setup. That’s what I always do. Tell them you need a full setup and you can tell them how high or low you want the bridge. You can set the bridges position when it is restrung.

    how's the tuning on the js32 v without the floyd?

  • @StusWorld

    Cloverit If you avoid using the Floyd Rose it seems to hold the tuning just fine but I haven’t really hammered on it. Maybe I’ll do a video on that to test it out.

  • @StusWorld

    My Ibanez Prestige RG3570Z does the same thing because it has the edge zero point mechanism added to the Floyd Rose tremolo system. So I always have to pull up a little bit at the end to get it back into pitch. The zero point thing is nice because it will always return the bridge back to “zero” but doesn’t allow for the strings to “snap” back fully since the zero mechanism doesn’t really allow for it. Hopefully your guitar has the same thing and answers your question. Or else I’ve just wasted your time. Lol

    I’ve had other “cheaper” Jacksons before and they didn’t have the issue this one did. It’s not the worst I’ve ever come across but there is some sort of issue. I’m going to do some adjustments and do a follow up video. It just didn’t seem right.
