There's so much good stuff here, man. I've spent this week getting several versions of the descending Parker enclosure and the Flatt runs under my fingers. Need to work on the ascending Parkers, and the +1 licks, and variations. Thanks again! Oh, yeah - as you know some of this is tricky in open G, there are some interesting bennies to it too - some of the duplicate patterns from the 3rd and 4th string on the 5th and 6th...

Hey Jack, sorry I couldn’t make the live session due to work. I’m watching now. I find myself pausing and learning the arpeggios and scales as you lay them out. Good stuff! Thank you! One thing that really helps is when you’re soloing to say the arpeggio or scale and key you’re playing. You move rather quickly and it’s difficult to follow how you’re traversing the fretboard.

Jack fantastic! I always loved sugar magnolia and never really knew how to approach soloing over “sunshine daydream”. Epic lesson, thanks mate

I got a lot out of mileage out of this. Really cool lesson. Leaving out the flat and major 7th, wow, what a difference. I had thought you wanted to add that for this sound. I'm going to learn all 4 licks. I like that Louisiana thing. I remember that from Iko Iko. I learned your rendition note for note. So is this major pentatonic flat 3rd thing pretty applicable all over? Or just in certain instances? Is it just as good on the 5 and 4 chord? Is this video you were arpeggiating the E and F#. So I'm not really sure. Are there songs in a major key where this will not work at all? I know it's a lot of questions. You had said you didn't mind though. Thanks again. I really appreciate the work you do on here.

Lots to unpack: The major pent b3 approach works over any major chord that you’d play Ionian, Lydian or Mixolydian on because it omits the 4 and 7. I’m using but all over the place…all the time.

@@jacksnax4guitar460 Thank you. That's good to know. This video should keep me busy for a while. I'm kind of unsure how to use the 7ths in general but I'll figure it out. Hope you're having a good night. If you keep posting em, I'll keep watching em. Hey when you show a riff can you go like one time in super slow motion. Sometimes it's hard to tell what's happening even if I drop the video play speed. I know you try to anyway.

Thanks, Jack! You always inspire me to work on hitting the changes with your fluid playing. Do you have any vids on Jerry’s syncopated roll/stutter playing (similar to Betts) around the 2:00 minute mark of Lovelight from Hundred year hall. I can’t seem to quite get it or keep up with that tempo. Thanks for everything 👏👍

It lasts for about two minutes and is kind of the foundation of the rhythm that he’s playing as then he mixes in Melody notes and Bends. I have trouble keeping up the momentum of the motion that he’s able to maintain for two minutes

    @@kylebollendorf4856 I’m hearing a lot of triplets/groups of 4 and E major pentatonic…lots of B C# (12th &14th fret b string) and G# on the the 13th of the G string.

@@jacksnax4guitar460 ok, thanks, I’ll try slowing it down and seeing if I can figure out some of the repeating patterns. The tempo is challenging for me…I’ll have to work up to it. He does it in a minor key in the awesome jam from the some show around the 4:00 minute mark of Playing in the Band.

Thanks for the kind words! I primarily use the Top Jimi ‘64 Deluxe reverb. Set for zero gain with a few tweaks. Then I usually have a TS-9 simulation on (green scream). I usually have a blend of this OD sound. It pushes mids and tightens the bass a little while adding more dynamic range and softening the transient. Sometimes I’ll have second with different settings, higher gain level. This always has reverb and a delay. It’s working pretty well for me. As nice as it performs at line level(what you’re hearing here) I think it sounds much better through my Atomic monitor.
