I was listening to 'Jackie's Bag' while trying to set up a new printer, and this was automatically served up next by KZread. My first thought was, "Damn, that's 1990? Jackie's playing really strong here, that's cool..."; my second thought was "No way! Cindy Blackman! I'm definitely watching the rest of this now!". Back around this time, i.e. late 1980s/early 1990s, I listened to her recorded work or watched her performances every chance I got, just sitting there thinking "She's such a great drummer, and she's so damn hot!!!". Thirty-odd years later, same thing, hahaha...

What a sensational concert. Jackie is my saxophone god. Regrettable about the one-channel playback, though. I found that downloading this and then playing it in VLC media player with the stereo switched to left channel evens out the playback into both channels and renders a serviceable mono sound in both channels. Also, I have an old headphone jack device from the good old days of Radio Shack that takes a one-channel signal and converts into both channels if I want to listen to it on the computer. Thanks for the upload. Better to have it this way than no way at all.

This is the Jackie I counter with to those who heap praise on the commercially over-produced Sanborn metallic sound . The recordings of McLean and Lee Morgan never required any gimmicks or recording techniques to shape the tone. The free-blowing style each brings to their respective instruments is where the 'Z' in jazz for me came to be defined.
