In the 80’s when DJ names the lunchbox and Roseanne and Jacki go to Iowa to steal the recipe. The Restaurant in Iowa they are talking about is called Taylor’s Maid Rite in a Town called Marshalltown Iowa. They are still open today and Family owned. They are the first original Maid Rite. They are so good they are shipped all over the world.

I hate how they dumbed all these characters down, especially Becky and Jackie. I remember during Roseanne seasons 1-5 these characters were more articulate and actually seemed like they had more smarts and ambition. Now they just come off as goofy and wacky. It's like Becky had a lobotomy and they forgot to write it into the storyline or something.

Exactly, in the original episodes, Becky was serious and stood up for herself and Jackie wasnt as hyper as she is now...Plus, DAN wasnt as serious and even smiled back then, kinda went with the flow, now hes all serious and looks tired all the time...

@@stevenbramley9574 If I recall Dan is also an addict now. This change could be due to his addiction to pills or just sloppy writing. I remember an episode where he came home from from the pharmacy with pills and he was really excited about it. He and Roseanne traded pills.

This happens with a lot of characters on sitcoms as the writers focus too much on the goofier aspects of a character. Same thing happened to the older brother on Boy Meets World and then it eventually happened to all the characters on that show. It happened on Friends as well. Basically any long running sitcom. It seems the older characters get the writer have one of two choices. They can allow the character to grow and change or they can dumb the character down so they stay zany. Most writers choose to dumb the characters down.

After the end of the original series the Lunch Box failed for some reason and Roseanne sold it, however what Roseanne and Jackie didn't know is that their mother, Bev, secretly bought out their shares and kept the place, renting the place out to became a cheap Chinese Food place. Bev needed help with this though, so after Darlene moved back to Landford she gave Darlene the power of custodianship of her estate, including the Lunch Box. After Roseanne died the Chinese place ended up closing during the Covid pandemic, after which Jackie decided she wanted to rent the building again and re-open the Lunch Box, only to discover Bev still owned it and Darlene controlled rights to it. Darlene refused to let Jackie re-open the place (since Bev didn't want Darlene to) but eventually through a lot of family fighting Bev just threw up her hands and basically said "do whatever you want but I am staying out of it" and Darlene let Jackie have the place again. Unfortunately, it turns out maybe the real reason Bev didn't want Jackie to have it is because she did no maintenance on the place for over a decade, so the walls were infested with dead rats and black mold, forcing Jackie to drain her life savings just to bring it up to code. Completely broke and the place only brought back up to normal, Jackie is about to just quit because she has no money to actually renovate the place after clearing out the mold/rats, but the town hearing that the Lunch Box might be re-opening donate restaurant stuff (like tableclothes and a jukebox) as well as money to help Jackie get on her feet. The renovations take awhile, but eventually the place is open again with Jackie running it.

The Connors suck. Also I feel alot of fans longtime and new can notice how the passion and enthusiasm that they had for acting when everyone was younger and the course of the original show is completely non existent. The spark is gone from their eyes and hearts. It's been too long. They're all tired because of life and other endeavours. The delivery of lines are flat, lifeless, emotionless, and mechanical. It's like they've been forced or pressured into something that they don't really want to do. I know that they appreciate the money, but I feel like they mainly did it out of maybe pressure that longtime fans put them under. Longtime fans don't want to be reminded of the fact that the character and actor are older and maybe the effects of aging and life has taken a toll on them. The new time viewers want to see finally what the hype was about, because they've probably heard others speak highly and fondly of the Roseanne show. Longtime viewers They expect the same stic and charm factor and gimmicks as the character long ago. They don't want to be able to differentiate and distinguish the actors and characters. They want the associate the character with the actor as one. With the Connors, I see each of the actors on television. It's like the og actors are all new actors hired to replace original actors who are no longer on a show and trying to imitate the roles but failing miserably at it. I don't see Darlene anymore, I see Sara Gilbert on trying to play a character named Darlene. The beloved characters we use to know are dead. Within the exception of Jackie. The reboot even sucked with Roseanne on it, just a terrible idea to reboot the show. The original show was perfect beginning to end. Unless you're going to revive an old show to show as marathons as they once were, just leave them alone. Let them remain as they once were. I haven't seen a reboot of any show that was great or greater than the og. ..just let it go. Different vibe, atmosphere, environment and memories associated with those years that can never be duplicated...,It's been too long.

i don´t like the show to its to depresing but this scene is not a depresing scene is comedy so i admit i do like this scene and also like the scene where jackie as cages with animals but i think for the most part is still a depresed show and comedy scenes like this is very rare

Me too. Regular home cooked affordable meals that have passion and love behind them..maybe generations..Meals that offer comfort and escape. Relatable meals for relatable people..Well it was in the original series.

Jackie really saved the Connor's after they fired Roseanne.

Maybe they can get the town to pay Dan’s 3rd mortgage

It’s like they can come up with new story lines so they just reuse the old ones from the 90s . Strange.

The reason this show carries on is because its more interesting than modern "smart" virtue signal comedy. Thinking of tina fey type stuff and whatever has followed, where the writers get too busy impressing themselves and forget that there's an audience.

Jackie has never--NOT ONCE--been successful with finances. It's crazy that she is sinking family money into another venture destined to fail. The Lunchbox failed once and so did Dan's bike shop. In an old Roseanne show, when the Conners got money from Dan's city job, they blew it all on a trip to Disney World. This family has zero maturity when it comes to money

The entire original Roseanne cast was brilliant, but Laurie Metcalf brought a significance to Roseanne/The Conners that I can only equate to Don Knotts on the Andy Griffith Show or Art Carney on The Honeymooners.

She died. Overdosed on pain meds she was hoarding from a bad knee friends and neighbors were giving her. Before she died Dan found out she was abusing the meds and told her no matter the financial hit they would take they would get her surgery if it ment she stopped abusing the meds which she agreed too. Only after she died was when Dan and the rest found out how bad her addiction was. She had meds hidden throughout the house and that's when they found some were not even hers, but friends and neighbors

Who’s idea was this? Well I won’t watch on ABC after what was done to Roseannes life’s work. Over a mistake. Who would think Valerie Jarrett; she is Iranian Not black. Roseanne apologized. It’s mainly because Michelle Obama big Mike got involved. It’s a good show with Katie segal. But doubt Ivan watch such crazy short episodes. I’m not paying to watch. It’s not that great. 1. Roseanne did it to herself. 2. It was Roseanne who benefitted from the others (John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf were way more experienced than Roseanne and Roseanne herself has said before that those two carried the show especially early on. 3. It's Roseanne (not Rosanne) you can't defend her if you can't even spell her name right. Besides I have nothing against her. The original Roseanne is still probably my favorite show ever and I could quote almost every episode, but that does not take away from the fact that The Conners is really good too.
