I feel like this movie is highly underrated. It got attention for the fact that Tom Cruise was a small guy being casted as a big guy. But I think he nailed the role and I think the whole movie is very solid.

@@philCTO Agreed. Ritchson may look the part but his acting leaves a lot to be desired. Besides, I can't take him serious when all I see is Thad Castle from Blue Mountain State anytime I try to watch Reacher.

I agree . . . also, I'm 5'7" so . . . Anyway, I think that people who "knew" of Reacher being a big guy were more disappointed than those of us who were introduced to the character in this movie, like I was.

I LOVE the back and forth payphone conversation between Reacher and the real shooter. Shooter's trying desperately to assert control and Reacher says, "Hold my beer, I'll show you who's in control".

You might hear people say that this movie isn't the "real" Jack Reacher. Technically, it is correct in that the Jack Reacher in the book series is a huge man while Tom Cruise is small and slight. However, I think Tom absolutely hits the attitude of Jack Reacher. Always competent. Always in control. Always willing to do what is necessary to achieve his goal.

What really important about Jack Reacher is that he a brilliant detective mind wheatear or not he is a big guy that is not important. Tom Cruise has the charisma and the charm and knows how to play really smart guys better than allot of actors even the big guy in the Reacher series. He did an awesome job in this movie but the sequel sucked (Not because of him). Although if I had to Cast Jack Reacher in my mind Dolph Landguren would be perfect for the role.

That bathroom fight scene is so fun. I get that a bunch of folks didn't enjoy the sudden comedic shift, but I got a darn kick out of it, and choreographing that fight in such a small space was really well done.

I'm totally here for the side-eye over that jug lmao. Every damn time. The jug-drinking is like two sides eyeing each-other across enemy lines and I love it.

The bus stop scene is one of my favorite movie moments of all time. The way the crowd edged in to hide Reacher, and the guy lent him his hat.

What's so great about this film is that it's a small, contained story. Nothing bombastic or over the top. Just a taut thriller. Tom Cruise in top form.

Such a great movie. I live close to Pittsburgh and have been there tons, Everytime I walk along the river I always look over to that bridge and the sniper scene from this pops in my head lol. Great reaction y'all

The Actor who played “Zek Chevlovek” is the world-renowned German Film Director Werner Herzog.

Big props for reacting to this underappreciated movie. Hopefully more people will react to this in the near future.

The Rifle is an M1A which is distinguishable from the M1 Garand by the detachable box magazine, the M1 Garand is chambered in the 30-06, the M1A is chambered in the .308 Winchester.

As to Reacher sending Helen to visit the victim's families, I don't think he did that so much to use Helen to gather info. At that point Reacher believed James Barr was guilty. As the price of getting him as her investigator, he wanted her to run the 'gauntlet' of having to talk to them and hear their pain first hand. Sort of punishing her for being an 'aloof' attorney defending a guilty man.

One thing about having Tom Cruise portray Reacher - it makes it more believable that street thugs would start fights with him. Alan Ritchson definitely looks like the “real”Reacher, but no one in their right mind would try to take him on.

stupid guys, especially after a couple of drinks, tend to go for the bigger guys. It poses them some kind of challenge and lame ego boost if they beat someone bigger than them.

The opening sniper scene and Werner Herzog being the villain makes the first "Jack Reacher" from a mediocre to a very good movie. Goosebumps!

BJ shall now be known as the "JUGernaut". Great musical score and just a fun, intense, action story.

Such a great movie and make sure to watch the 2nd one!

In case you not familiar with the location, they filmed in my home city Downtown Pittsburgh. The days they were filming I was either at home or work during that time; so I didn’t get to fully see them shooting. It was a rare cloudless week which we don’t get many of those, the weather here is unpredictable.

Cruise at the shooting range with the great one was crucial as u see him roll over as we were trained for sling shooting

The caliber you were wondering about, that was an M14 super match sniper variant rifle. It is chambered in 7.62x51mm (.308).

Tom Cruise does all his own stunts even holding his breath 8 minutes. He can't be human 😂

I’m an avid reader and I have to say Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novels are some of the best. He gets you hooked from page one and goes full speed right until the end.

The sentimental ending of Season 2 kind of undid all the good work....

Collaboration with Christopher McQuarrie is the best thing happened to Tom Cruise. They both bring out the best in each other. I hope if you've not seen any MI films you'll do a reaction to them.

I love the Easter egg in the scene at the rifle range where Robert Duvall calls back to The Natural by yelling out “Play ball!” before Reacher has to hit the bullseye 3 times in a row just as Robert Redford’s Roy Hobbs had to pitch 3 straight strikes against the Whammer with Duvall’s character as the umpire in the beginning of The Natural

I just finished this book, its always amazing the differences from book to movie!!

Sometimes the only more perplexing thing than an unanswered question is a question that is too easily answered.

This movie was damn good with some of its gun detail. I would strongly recommend checking out his previous film Way Of The Gun from 2000. The director's brother was a Navy SEAL who he brings in as a technical advisor to choreograph gunfights and train all the actors.

6:27 .308, very common hunting rifle caliber as well as “sniper” caliber. I bought a .308 bolt action rifle with a cheap scope for like $275. (Savage Arms)

that Chevelle is a tank compared to more modern cars

Last year, I read through all of the Jack Ryan books. This year, I've been reading through all of the Jack Reacher books. They're fun! Movie 1 (this movie!) is based off of the novel "One Shot" (book 12), while S1 of the new Jack Reacher show is based off of the book "Killing floor" (book 5), and S2 of the show is based off of "Bad Luck and Trouble" (Book 14) which Is the book I'm currently on! While T Cruise isn't terrible in the role, Alan Ritchson is phenomenally accurate to the book in the show

Tom really gets into his characters, this was a good one followed by a sequel and a tv show. Tom was hilarious in Tropic Thunder, haha shoot. Far And Away, Interview With a Vampire, Legend, Cocktail, Days Of Thunder, Born On The Fourth Of July, The Firm, Vanilla Sky are other Tom films. A good portion of us are waiting for him to Play Supreme Iron Man in a multiversal Avengers film. Nice reaction. I suggest Ong-Bak: Thai Warrior.

I'm a big Lee Child's fan when it comes to the Book Reacher and the new Reacher Series on Prime Video as well-but I still enjoyed the heck out of this movie. When it comes to action adventure movies, Cruise knows how to deliver. 😉♥

I read all the books and the books supporting it by other authors. You will hear people complain about Tom Cruise not looking like the book character. They drive me crazy. If Tom Cruise did not do these movies, we would have no series and if you read the books. You will hear Reach talk about SpecOp guys being small like Cruise. Cruise would have made the perfect Navy Seal, because of how focused he is.

There are some movie opening scenes I could only watch once. This and Ghost Ships are two. My favorite scene was when he walked out the car and stood with the folks waiting on a bus. "Knight And Day!" Underrated Tom Cruise movie. Or just watch the Mission Impossible movie series. How about some "end of the world" movies? "Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers," and "Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World!" Underrated gems: "The Hunted" (Tommy Lee Jones), Brotherhood Of The Wolf," "Wolf," and "The 13th Warrior!"

I wish my eyes and fingers would start working together so I could spell without having to. Spell check...lol

I remember being kind of surprised that Tom Cruise would do this particular type of action movie, but then it ended up being such a great watch!

Hope yall do the reacher tv show. Guys definitely built closer to how reachers described in the book and he did such a great job in the role

I’ve always enjoyed this movie and the second one also. The DA played by Richard Jenkins is in two movies in particular I wish you guys would watch. Burn After Reading (a Coen Brothers dark comedy) and Say it Isn’t So. A regular straight up comedy that’s funny as crap. Especially what all happens to him.

Btw size isn't the only difference in the book character and either Cruise or the guy in the series. He's a big guy but in the books he's not a very good looking guy. What makes him really different is his brain, size, aggression and abilities

Book series Author Lee Child plays the desk policeman when Jack Reacher asks for confirmation that policeman vote Republican and never drive Cadillacs. The 2nd film may not be as enjoyable as the 1st but is still watchable. The Prime Series is definitely more faithful to the books and pleases a lot of those fans, newbies also enjoy the series but may question some storylines, it's worth reacting too, especially if you liked this 1st one. :)

Now you have to watch the TV show reacher
