i met Jack back in 2008, and he's just as nice in person as he seems on TV. he's a little awkward around strangers, but that's probably because he doesn't want to say anything that hurts your feelings or offends you. we got to talk for almost 10 minutes, though, and he gave me advice about writing songs: "if you can't think of a good true story to tell, there's nothing wrong with making one up. something you daydream about, or something you wish were true in real life." it completely changed my outlook on songwriting :) i didn't have my ukulele with me, but he promised if i mailed it to him and included return postage and a box, he'd sign it and send it back. and he actually DID XD it took awhile, but he kept his promise. he even autographed it on the back because, as he said in his letter, "i didn't want to mess up the front of the uke with my signature". what a guy, lol. Jack may not be the world's biggest rock star, may not be the most famous or most popular, or even the most loved. he's nowhere near the league of David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Metallica, etc....but to me, he'll always be #1.

Same vibe at Bonnaroo in 2008. 75K captivated. It might have something to do with he doesn't use any gimmicks.

Was just thinking this! Only 6 years ago but the difference in crowds, compared to now is mind blowing.

Jack Johnson is one of those artists for me whos music will not age. I can't remember the last time I sat and purposefully spent time just dedicated to listening to his music. And I still know almost all the tracks word for word. Beautiful music!

Same for me, I put his music on when I’m off from work. He relaxes me & I enjoy singing along. He makes my days off so much better!!!! 🙏 I’m glad I can hear him play on the store radio cause he helps me get through my retail hell day🙏 I had the pleasure of catching his show at the beach Asbury Park, NJ @ See Hear Now with my east coast bestie, (pre pandemic of course) 😊 it made me so happy!!!!!

Reminds me of his show at Bonnaroo in 2008 when he lifted 75K people on a beautiful night after two days of scorching heat. I love all the crowd shots. That drummer is solid.
