A lot of you seem to be confused so allow me to help you out: Appreciating and consuming a culture that doesn’t belong to you whilst actively partaking in it ≠ (does not equate to) being a culture vulture. Yes Jack Harlow profits off of Hip-Hop, which is of black culture, but he’s not ‘stealing’ or appropriating anything. He knows it’s not of his own, and he has given credit to the black community. He is aware that he is a white boy in a black man’s craft, and he accepts that and is okay with that. Just because YOU don’t like Jake’s music and YOU can’t see the appeal does not mean that he’s getting praised and ‘gassed’ simply for being WHITE. Taste is subjective, the world does not revolve around you and you alone. 😁

Well, never seen a black sports player pay homage to “white culture” that created basketball, soccer etc and let black ppl earn good living in it. Until then, no green light needed to do whatever you want to do!! It goes both ways or it doesn’t make sense ;)
@vennito3545
3 жыл бұрын
@@IVpeekaboo uhhhh no one said jack had to pay “homage” to the craft. He is well-aware of the fact that he’s indulging in a culture that’s not ‘of his own’, and doesn’t take advantage and respects it. Whatever you consider to be “white culture” has never been disregarded or disrespected because of its origins or whoever made it. Take the example of basketball that you used; no one has ever faced discriminatory backlash for being white and liking basketball. Yes, the discriminatory rhetoric against Jack and other honest white artists is unnecessary considering how appreciative he is of the black culture surrounding music and how he expresses major support for black people themselves, but it isn’t exactly unwarranted ;)
