1756 flat bottom with rounded chines and a flared out profile on the sides similar to a havoc will get you in the right direction. You can take a screen shot of the bare hull from my first video and send it to them for reference.
Not going to lie, this makes me want to try and make my own aluminum boat… I think I’ll just start small thought and start with modifying Jon boats and flipping them then maybe I can tackle this one day

@@JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms how much money went into this entire project? Including the welding machine you used to weld this boat together and all the materials? I’m trying to spend my entire summer working so I can afford to buy a Jon boat to flip it, but maybe I could try and make one instead
@JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms

@@AustinReels I have accumulated the tools over years of building things and the cost of materials fluctuates so adding what I have won’t help much. But I do believe you could buy the harbor freight multi process welder and the materials for a smaller and basic Jon boat for under 6k. Then you could use the experience from this build to build the one of your dreams.
Love the build!!do you have plans for the boat?i wanted to send in the bend to pierce aluminum

Thanks brother. I don’t have any plans. Just explained what I wanted. You could probably call frank at pierce in Broussard and tell him you want the same thing that I got.
Where in alabama are you ? I live in Butler (choctaw County) and would love to meet you. Want to build me a different kind of boat,but would need some advice on what to do on the bottom and with the aluminum. The boat is originally made from plywood, but I want aluminum. Need to know the thicknesses and strength and just to pick your brains basically.

Thicker metal is easier to weld. Clean existing metal the best you can. Take some time on a level work station if you don’t have one. Have fun.

Now that you have had the boat built for a year, is there anything about the hull design that you would do differently?
@JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms
8 ай бұрын
Not. I love the hull design. Layout has been great and the stability is great as well. I did get a smaller motor though. It now has a 60hp that weighs over 100 lbs less than the tohatsu. The 75 was just too much for a tiller in this boat.

@@JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms It's unfortunate that the Broussard Pierce location is the only one with the 24' brake. Heck of a drive from South FL. I'd probably call them up and ask for the Jack Daddy special if it was more convenient.

@@alvarez1112 after I drove all the way out there, someone told me that they will ship it to a location closer to you. I think they have a location in mobile al. That would knock about 5-6 hours off each way from south fl. Might be worth a ask.

@JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms I'll have to check on that. There is a branch in Orlando only a few hours away. I know they will transfer the raw material, as the 8' x 20' sheets come from New Orleans, but I don't know if bending would affect shipping.

Great build I want to learn build boat what I like have like for fishing and duck hunt with 4 seat in middle row on floor for 4 hunter blind hole with side storage under top box put decoys away both side fit goose and duck decoys like all way front to back on side also gun box and little live well with inside gun box . Life jacket put in top box with storage side close door not let life jacket fly out . I like handle too . Exart wide and deep safe for water don't jump in from wave . I don't like leg clamps by side between seat to storage side box . I like fog lights post help see out better in fog in dark driver light too bright shiny water it hard see out . I don't know what ga. Sheet you use build on boat keep light easy move not need big motor . Let I say between 25 to 40 or 50 love to have mud motor build my own . And boat too but I don't have shop and welder to buy that and hard find wich aluminum sheet you use . Like have all one piece boat hull sheet not many pieces hull all one piece hull floor great for our 4 seater .

i could have sourced it in alabama but none of the salesman at their alabama location knew anything about boat building... so i talked to frank at their La location and he knew exactly what to do. i will get you a materials list... if you watched all my videos, you will know that i sourced some things from a local scrap yard, so to build the exact same type, you will need to find some stuff here and there... but not much. Random question: How would you register this "homemade boat"?
@JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms
Жыл бұрын
I discuss it in detail in part 5 or 6 of the build series but basically it differs by state. In Alabama you get it inspected and the marine police assign a hull number which allows a normal registration process from there on.

@@JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms Oh ok. I used the term "Homemade" very loosely because the workmanship on this boat surpasses many of the manufacturers out there today! Beautiful build. I'm assuming that the AL marine police will also determine what HP rating your boat will be as well?

@@huntergullett2863 thank you for those kind words man. They actually don’t and it is left up to you. I thought they would but he said that their job isn’t to rate the sea-worthiness of the vessel… just to assign a number and make sure it isn’t stolen and is in fact homemade.
