Estimado Stefano.... I am wondering if you are aware of any arrangement of this Jacaras for classical guitar... of course it wouldn't have the grace and nuance of the Baroque guitar. Such a wonder piece.. you have such a mastery of this instrument. Saludos.

I am currently making some progress notating this piece using guitar pro 7 as the tool. Its a challenging piece when you get into the detail. You start to pick up all the subtleties. The rhythm switches between meters 6/8 to 3/4 to 2/4 changing from simple to compound feel, missing pulses, taps etc.

Just completed the transcription. Pleased with the outcome. The midi playback and score is close to the Stefano performance although some areas are estimates only. Just had to play the KZread performance over and over and over for a couple of months.

Cj12sings . Yes. Just have to tell me the best method for me to make it available. It is written for baroque guitar and tuning one semi- tone below the standard pitch So you can play with KZread. Guitar Pro still prints the wrong string numbers under the title I.e strings 1= G#, 2= C#, 3= F#, 4= A#’ 5= D# when it should be. 1= D#, 2= A#, 3=F#, 4=C#, 5=G#.

I can post it to my website at greenlionmusicalinstruments.weebly.com under the tab heading and we can post the link to it in the comments here, or you can create your own site using weebly or another free internet web provider ...assuming this is all okay with Mr. Maiorana...I have been unsuccessful in two attempts to build a baroque guitar, I have a lot more experience building other instruments... this tab is a motivator to try a third build..

Stefano, my son has made a baroque guitar and is making a second one for me (his father) in Tasmania. I am looking for a starting point (music). I am hearing a lot of improvisation and variations on a chord progression. I have read the academic paper by Stanley Yates and a Google Books transcription of baroque guitar but find it a bit overwhelming. I am thinking it would be best just to start with learning the chords A,B,C,D,E,F,G???? Any suggestions? I have some experience in Classical guitar. Is this piece of music available?

Hi Neil! Yes you are right...probably the best thing is to start with only alfabeto dances. Do you know Montesardo, Pico, Colonna, etc.? Then you can go on with the pizzicato and mixed style. You can find for example "Intavolatura della chitarra spagnola" by Tommaso Marchetti (only rasgueado style with alfabeto for the guitar) in IMSLP Petrucci Music Library. Are you from Tasmania?...I love Australia...

Well, from what we know many guitarists during the XVII and XVIII century played with nails, not only baroque guitars but also theorbos and archlutes. So don't worry about that. The problem is always to find our personal sound according to the historically performance practice I think. With or without nails? This is not the problem!

Estimado Stefano.... I am wondering if you are aware of any arrangement of this Jacaras for classical guitar... of course it wouldn't have the grace and nuance of the Baroque guitar. Such a wonder piece.. you have such a mastery of this instrument. Saludos.

Las jacaras han dejado su marca, incluso en el idioma. En Andalucia, aún hoy, un juerguista, un amigo de la fiesta, puede ser llamado"jacarandoso". Buena versión, bravo

I love this. Exquisite. Overflowing with grace and charm. I've been getting more into flamenco guitar and am fascinated by the way those techniques are incorporated into this. I'm curious if the baroque guitar was originally played in this way at all. Mesmerizing performance. Thank you.

I am currently making some progress notating this piece using guitar pro 7 as the tool. Its a challenging piece when you get into the detail. You start to pick up all the subtleties. The rhythm switches between meters 6/8 to 3/4 to 2/4 changing from simple to compound feel, missing pulses, taps etc.

Just completed the transcription. Pleased with the outcome. The midi playback and score is close to the Stefano performance although some areas are estimates only. Just had to play the KZread performance over and over and over for a couple of months.

Cj12sings . Yes. Just have to tell me the best method for me to make it available. It is written for baroque guitar and tuning one semi- tone below the standard pitch So you can play with KZread. Guitar Pro still prints the wrong string numbers under the title I.e strings 1= G#, 2= C#, 3= F#, 4= A#’ 5= D# when it should be. 1= D#, 2= A#, 3=F#, 4=C#, 5=G#.

Stefano, my son has made a baroque guitar and is making a second one for me (his father) in Tasmania. I am looking for a starting point (music). I am hearing a lot of improvisation and variations on a chord progression. I have read the academic paper by Stanley Yates and a Google Books transcription of baroque guitar but find it a bit overwhelming. I am thinking it would be best just to start with learning the chords A,B,C,D,E,F,G???? Any suggestions? I have some experience in Classical guitar. Is this piece of music available?

Hi Neil! Yes you are right...probably the best thing is to start with only alfabeto dances. Do you know Montesardo, Pico, Colonna, etc.? Then you can go on with the pizzicato and mixed style. You can find for example "Intavolatura della chitarra spagnola" by Tommaso Marchetti (only rasgueado style with alfabeto for the guitar) in IMSLP Petrucci Music Library. Are you from Tasmania?...I love Australia...

Thank you Stefano, much obliged. I am not familiar with any of the sources you have mentioned, however this gives me plenty to research. So important when starting out to be on the right track. I live an hour or so north of Sydney , NSW. and my son lives out of Hobart.

Well, from what we know many guitarists during the XVII and XVIII century played with nails, not only baroque guitars but also theorbos and archlutes. So don't worry about that. The problem is always to find our personal sound according to the historically performance practice I think. With or without nails? This is not the problem!
