I think he had his own style. His contribution of bring ghazals to a common man is unforgettable. Nobody could do it. That’s because of his simple tunes. Mind you simple is difficult and difficult is easy as every seasoned person will say. I think he is the greatest of all. Since he had it all simplicity and performance both.

I am listening his gazals from 1982. I live this human being who is jagjit singh. He enriched my life so much. I wish every human can do this for other. Than we had heaven on earth. It is a illusion but wishes are there to be made. Love to all who bring his music to layman like me. 🙏🙏🙏💖

In early 1970s Jagjit Singh was following a lot of Khan Sahib Mehdi Hassan's style of ghazal, the king of ghazal singing in the subcontinent

Every time I listen this ghazal.it touches my soul.even the one by mehndi hassan.both have divine voice

I am a little puzzled, because I can't say, whether I am hearing, Mehdi Hassan saab or Jagjitji.....Sung in the same style in a very soft and soothing voice , one just cannot make out the difference...Well.! This is how I feel .. Sung with such pathos and feelings, by Jagjitji , could melt any heart.! ....His phenomenal singing further enhanced the beauty of the these endearing and heart touching lyrics....Shama ka anjaam na pooch..Parwaano ke saath jalee..".Khatir ", ye hai baazi-e-dil Iss mein jeet se maat bhalee... You haven't heard the same Ghazal s version sung by Mehdi hasan saheb otherwise your comment must have been different .

Jagjit’s contribution towards promotion of Urdu ghazal is tremendous. Mehdi Hasan ruled as the King but showed the way forward to a lot of singers. Hariharan is another living example of someone who started off following Mehdi Saheb and then allowed his own creative style to show him the way.

Very good effort to sing this very difficult ghazal by King of ghazals ustad Mehdi Hasan Khan sahib. Very good effort 👋👋

Excellent and great rendition by the ‘God of Ghazals’ and the words… are gems..! So much soothing to heart and soul…

Rafi Saheb ki awaaz is gane mein bhi aesi hai ki pucho na .Aesi awaaz ko nawaaz e mein bahut ziyada nainsaafi hui hai . Mehdi Hasan Saheb aur Rafi Saheb ka muqaable ho hi nahi sakta .

Khatir is the poet. Bazi e dil is the bet of love Maat is defeat.. I.e., khatir the poet said that in this bet of love, it's better to loose the battle against ur loved one..either u loose or she wins, it's the same for u..
