Looked up my old hero Mr G Malcolm and here I am. Thanks. Brilliant. Bravo. Encore
PAIVI!!! You are so young but YOU are a true master. I have no words for your interpretation.
Great piece of music and awesome playing. I came to Rameau while listening to Francis Monkman playing Rameau's Gavotte & Variations on the Sky 2 album. Not the one for the classy folks here but I like it ever since...
Rameau and Royer were visionaries - The last two Variations sound like 1980s synthpop / disco!
Rameau, c'est beau 😊!
A rising harpsichord star, would love her to release a complete Rameau
Its was totally thrilling from start to finish, her use of different voices her subtle dynamics whilst retaining the impetus of a courtly dance, the instrument was a French monster, it was loud and commanding, we were truly at the court of the Sun King. Whilst appearing calm there was an emotional intensity retained by this musician and often lost on the harpsichord. Only Bruce Liu today plays Rameau with Marcel Mayers ornamentation and this vidoe is from 2015 way before Bruce employs the same ornamentation. What really comes through the whole performance is her joy in playing the music, if she lived like she played what a life that would be
magnifique interprétation ! Quelle technique et quelle musicalité . Je la découvre de jours en jours ! Mille bravo !
Bravo .
So many sterling performances and still she finds new avenues to walk, new registers to try, and gives is happiness with this well-paced, exuberant walk through these inexhaustible masterpieces. Ik was bowled over.
A stylish, elegant and thoroughly musical performance with no bobbing or face-pulling. I first heard this played in the early 70s, by Sylvia Marlowe and have liked it since.
I like this performance!
I absolutely LOVE what you did with this fabulous piece of music.

Absolutely beautiful song it just blows me away.
This is one of the best renditions of this piece.
Bravo!
I think this piece is the summit of human achievement; it's all been downhill since
WInderful! Such eleganceand that instrument has an incredible voice! :-) Rameau would be very approving. :-)

Thank you Selma. I will try to find the time to add some more music to my channel. 💜
Thank you for your performance, its really very enjoyable.

This is a superb interpretation! I generally prefer piano performances, but Ms. Vesalainen entirely overcomes the expressive limitations of the harpsichord and brings this masterpiece to life with gorgeous phrasing and extraordinary energy. Bravo!

MARVELOUS !!

I like many of the performances on LPs more. They boost the sound more than can be done on an unassisted Harpsichord. This is especially noticeable near the spectacular (on LPs) ending. Still, at 5:00, I find nothing to criticize, and I have recordings of this piece by at least seven performers, including Wanda Landowska. LATER;:Well, I may have to get out those old LPs, because her performance is as good as those I remember from fifty years ago. I guess I'm going to have to drag them out. She's terrific.

I remember playing this piece for a friend of mine years ago. It was on an LP,, and I remember him saying that he hadn't known that harpsichords.could do what he had just heard. At the time, I wondered about his remarks, but now I know. that he was just more perceptive/knowledgable than I, much more..
JSB fa paura
It's fascinating!
Excelente !
Hallo, eine brilliante Interpretation. Das Cembalo hat einen aussergewöhnlich ausgewogenen Klang. Ein voller Ton in allen Lagen. Darf man fragen wer es erbaut hat? Vielen Dank und alles Gute.
Brava
@MrCamzu

What does she do at 3.37 to change the sound? Is it a string dampener?
@jonathanolson1185
Yes she's turning the dampener on, which slides a set of (usually) leather pieces against all the strings dampening them giving them a "tinny" sound. Harpsichords also have gates which allow 1 or 2 sets of stings to be plucked simultaneously per key. Much like a 12 string acoustic guitar. This particular harpsichord also has two keyboards (or manuals as they are traditionally called) that allows for more sounds. Usually the bottom manual a much more louder full sound while the upper manual is a quieter softer tone. Since harpsichord stings are plucked (and not stuck like a Pianos) they need these different sounding manuals to attain different volumes. Harpsichords also do not have sustain pedals (or any pedals for that matter) to allow for resonance, so that is why you hear a lot of "trills" in harpsichord music. Lastly, at 5:48 were you see her push the top manual forward, this will actually have both manuals play together off of the bottom manual, and if you turn on the proper gate (as she did) all keys and all strings will be playing for a very intense full sound. Hope this helps!

Two minutes ago I was listening to this piece played by Ana Marija Krajnc at kzread.info/dash/bejne/jKB3uLRvmcqqZ6Q.html and you are performing it more melodically! Thank you for posting!
