I am an mechanical engineer. I have read about that valve. Actual you were a bit wrong. The valve is just an emissions equipment. It has 3 connections. One is connected to the air box to suck fresh air. One is connected straight to the exhaust system. The third connection is just a vacuum pipe which is used to operate the valve (the pipe which as soon as u removed, the engine stopped). What this system does is it dumps fresh air in the exhaust to help burn the unburned fuel in the exhaust manifold which helps with emissions. The amount of air dumped in the exhaust depends on how much the valve opens up. That vacuum generated in the pipe after the carburettor the actually sucks and opens the valve inside it which in turn forms a connection between the air box and exhaust system. In simple terms, More load on the engine=more the vacuum generated=more the valve opens=more air dumped in exhaust=less unburned hydrocarbon emissions=cleaner environment.
