This is the beat that made J Dilla famous! Once Q-tip heard this beat he knew Dilla was special and that A Tribe Called Quest need to work with him!

I forgot to do some breakdown notes because I schedule these videos in advance so sometimes I forget I posted lol. This beat was harder to breakdown than it looks. It took me awhile to figure out he used 3 different sections that are very similar, but have enough unique differences to justify sampling them all. Also the "in the streets" part being pitched up was crazy too me. I was struggling so hard to make that chop sound right. Crazy to pitch one sound -1 and then the same sample +1... usually you gotta do a space of 3,5 or 12 semitones to stay in key right?? The difference being 2 semitones should have made the chops of key... right?!?! Anyway... a lot of Beatles/Dilla just coming. But the videos are now only once every 10 days, so I have more time to make other content, and make my own music :)

DUDE Amazing work J Dilla can sample any genre and make it work 😂
crazy. had no idea that was a ringo sample. i am pretty sure this is from the "motown" beat tape which was from '04/'05ish. he met q-tip around 1994.

@@Narokx Originally this beat comes from a 2004 beat CD named "Dil Withers 3.7" and Pete Rock, at least, has one of the original "Dil Withers 3.7" beat CD.
No one really talks about how creative this beat actually is. When you in the streets of the hood theres always a moment you're like 'Ohh. . .OHHH" Everywhere you turn there's always somethin
Holy fuck you gotta be kidding
This one sticks out compared to others with the way he's doing the stutter hits it's mimicking how you strum a guitar
The kings of the BEAT. Dilla also sampled a John Lennon interview for E=mc2

It's actually George Harrison :)
absolute madness....absolute badman..
I had no idea he freaked it like dat, pero- I'm not surprised DILLA DAWG! 🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩
It’s what I learnt from Dilla. Do not judge the record, anything can be chopped and composed
Unreal chops. Nice breakdown.
Man i love this album
Genius
Fun fact: J Dilla used Ringo Starr's snare sound in some beats
Congrats on 20k! Hope you upload again one of these days.

Sup bud! I took this month off to see what the result of not posting would do to my channel... it did nothing, the stats stayed the same lol. I guess it means that posting my normal content won't move the needle forward. So I am preparing some work for my Patreon, some new types of content, and working on music. But I still have some breakdowns ready to post and will be back sometime next month :)

Really amazing job on this. I was hoping you'd do this beat, it's the craziest sample flip I've ever heard.
