It’s not just that J Cole said he’s the best, it’s also because he deliberately stated in multiple verses that he’s ready for a battle, he wants the smoke, all these rappers are scared, no one can beat me one on one, etc. then when the moment finally comes and the world is watching he basically said i changed my mind i don’t want the smoke 🤦🏻‍♂️ it’s a slap in the face to us J Cole fans because we believed him all this time when he was saying “anybody can get it try to diss me and it will be a funeral blablabla” and now ALLL that shit he was talking just sounds fake. That’s why we’re frustrated. We can’t even listen to his music like we used to because all that battle talk sounds like bullshit now. It’s hard to be tough on him because he’s such a nice guy but in the words of dave chappelle sometimes you have to be a fight like a lion so you can be peaceful like a sheep.

These people take being successful as being a better rapper. They are not to be taken seriously. Just cause Jay is way more successful and has won more awards, doesn't mean that artistically, the gap between him and Nas is huge. It's all subjective on who is better but don't say the gap is huge. Other than the good 4:44 and American gangster, Jay stopped dropping quality albums after his retirement album. At what time did he get past Nas by a huge margin?

What pisses me off the most is that he's good enough to challenge him. Cole can make a Takeover. It's like he was too scared to reach for greatness.

A couple of the guys in this podcast switch between financial and popularity success and “whos the best” like they are the same thing. Thats stops the conversation from moving. Also saying: “Jay Z is still big even after nas” or “pusha t is still not greater than drake” You nees to understand every beef has context, the context of those beefs wasnt “whos the greatest of all time”. The context was two rappers having personal problems with each other and handling it. The Cole Drake Kendrick beef context is EXPLICITLY “Which on of us massive rappers is the best with the pen.” And J Cole basically said: “I dont wanna fight for it, I quit.” THATS why people are shaming him.

In my opinion, I feel Kendrick's verse was based on reaching that pivotal point of being fed up with being spoken on as if he's 1 of 3, the constant comparison to them, doing interviews with questions about them, and not as the individual artist he is. Plus, I think 'First Person Shooter' was what did it, especially when Cole didn't only mention him, but made the Big 3 label and the who's the best out of them line. Hence, him saying, "F*ck the Big 3, it's just Big me!!!" But, I think that could've played a slight role in why Cole apologized.

For building up and running one of the illest labels in the game and keeping his team on the illest production and fed ain’t nobody fkn with Cole. Rapping yeah he dope sometimes. But the work he does overshadows all the bars bs. How competitive is Kendrick with making sure all of top dawg is alive and eating? There are fans, enthusiasts, and peers are, levels that make up public opinion. Fans don't rap so they don't understand the nuances involved in the art. Enthusiasts can distinguish a song in history. Peers understand everything that goes into creating the song like skillset. Drake fans are typically people that don't rap or care about distinction. Just want a good time and that's fair. But when like buying a painting or a one of one art, Kendrick creates a body of work that holds value. Just as Tupac and Marvin Gaye songs still resonant. As selling as a Toyota Camry is, the value is not going up on old ones. Then there is Bentley, Porsche, and Ferrari. That's the difference between Drake and Kendrick music. Both good but different value

I have questions; What do you guys gain from beefs because it doesn't make sense to me? Is it because of the hip-hop ego? Lastly what will make impact the two guys coming together to make something together or produce three or four songs dissing each other?

The culture of Rap & Hiphop is inherently centered around ego and being the best. So when you see rappers going at it with their ego on the line, you know you will see the best versions of themselves on their diss track. And as fans this would be like watching, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Paquiao fighting in their prime. It's rare to see to rappers on the top going at it.

People are acting like J Cole hasn’t been taking shots at Kendrick even before Kendrick dissed him. That’s what prompted Kendrick to diss him. That’s why Kendrick said ‘F’ sneak dissing, Cole was been taking shots for a while but he’s too much of a coward to be direct.

Cole ain’t about sneak dissing like Drake. The beef is and was always Drake v. Kendrick. J Cole made a dumb move and involved him self and got a stray.

Cole has been saying he's number one for years and bodying wrappers for years and on the diss track to Kendrick he is saying he's busting on him he got that heat under his seat body bag body bag body bag! There is no way to backtrack that into I'm on some high vibration level now. Otherwise he wouldn't have been bodying or everybody else he's been bodying over the last five years. I imagine his fans are pissed and they didn't expect this foolishness. His fans certainly didn't deserve this foolishness

Drake is massive commercial success. He’s not the emcee that a Kendrick or Cole is in the eyes of many hip hop fans. Still a very dope emcee but his music is more pop and less wordsmith. Drake makes music for the casual which is evident in Andrew saying he doesn’t really listen to Kendrick. SMH.

I don't get why J Cole diss track is weak. Everything he said was factually right. He responded in a week when Kendrick had 6 months to write something clever. Kendrick only sang one verse for two people J Cole and Drake which makes it a lot easier. And its the first round. Lastly I'm a fan of all of them but to put J Cole and Kendrick on the same level as Drake is extremely disrespectful. Thats just moving the goal post he's accomplished everything and artist has to accomplish to be considered greatest. Most number ones, most awards, constantly tries new styles some hit or miss but he's already past the Michael Jackson.
