    That snare improvement was incredible! Often one of the hardest things instruments to get to set right in the mix.

    As an Izotope beta tester, I can attest that they listened to us in what would be great enhancements, and then went over and beyond. The stem focus processing, and transient/sustain focused processing is big time!!

    @@Byron101_ it's not, but that's subjective. Ozone is NOT designed to just EVERYTHING for you. It's designed to help you "better focus in on mixing," regardless of where your mixing skill level is. Are you an untrained amateur? Ozone has additional help for you. Are you a seasoned professional, Ozone lets you control it, just like any other professional audio processing software....by the way, Ozone is designed with mastering in mind. if you want something with a "mixing" focus, get Neutron

    @@h-dawg6462 that's nonsense lol..Neutron will make processing moves, someone "who can't mix in their daw to begin with" would never even realize they should make...in what other way would that inexperienced person get to a decent mix? By magic? 😂...and it's a great learning tool for them. It's not doing anything that you can't see in particular, so someone untrained can use the assistant to study WHY it recommended a process move, and WHAT that processing move does to the mix....every generation thinks new things "cheapens music"..do you use synth presets, drum samples, and loops, instead of creating all of your own sounds from scratch? The mixes sound decent when coming out of ozone, but when I A/B it with my standard mastering chain, I’m never won over by the Ozone version. I like their progressive thinking, so I think that’s why I keep supporting them.

    I'd buy it if their upgrade paths on both single products and suites wheren't so crazy expensive for what little new there actually is. I really don't like the way they've integrated (or rather NOT integrated) with NI after the purchase either. There is literally zero value in owning products from both companies when it comes to upgrades. This should be a €50 upgrade at most, instead it's €164 (or €219 once the intro "sale" is over). MPS6 upgrade is €253 (€329 after "sale"). I feel like I'm just being hit in the head with a hammer every time I try to talk to them about their "loyalty offers" to. If they ever manage to merge their stuff with NI/PA like they should, so I can get offers based on the products I actually own from all these companies, I'll consider buying again. Won't hold my breath though, as my experience with NI is just as bad. I tried asking if I couldn't get a discount on Komplete upgrade since I already own every iZotope product in there, but no...

  • @RudalPL

    @RudalPL

    I have the same exact feelings about both iZotope and NI. I once bought some orchestral library from Spitfire Audio and after a while decided to buy some more stuff from them. They not only lowered the price of what I wanted to buy because I owned some parts of the bundle already, but applied a seasonal sale discount that was up at the time. I ended up paying way less for what I wanted and bought an extra thing on top for the "rest" of the money I had left. With iZotope and NI it's always no. And even the loyalty offers looks like you have to pay extra on top for what you own already.

    Hi Chris... Great, informative Video as per usual... I am using Ozone 10 (I need all the help I can get... music is a hobby for me, so time is limited... I use the Assistant as a starting point all the time lol)... But your comment about the "upwards compressor" module in Ozone 11got me thinking... In Cubase... it's basically what Squasher does??? (or can do???)... Other than the AI/Assistant element. (invaluable most of the time), could we build a chain in Cubase that mimics what Ozone can offer? (other DAWS are available at your friendly store)... not really suggesting that we should or could replace such a well written tool as this... But for someone just having Cubase and nothing else, might be a time saver... sorry, meandered on a bit there!!!

    I had Ozone 10 and did upgrade to 11 Advanced. You showed the ReBalance module, and adjusted the vocals. However, you did not comment if you could adjust each of the other sections, i.e. the drums and bass, also within that module. I'm asking because I was NOT able to do that in Version 10, and could only do one of the three. I DO also agree with the person who complained about the Upgrade prices. Right now, there's another Upgrade within RX 11, and it's $99, and to me, NOT worth it for the upgrade. Plus it seems that the RX11 upgrade deals more with Dialogue and I don't even do any of that, I do all music.

    You mix them properly in your mix session. These mastering tools are not made to remix a song, but to enhance better what should be already in place. So perfect if I need to bring up a lead vocal by 0.5 to 1 db when mastering. If I have to bring it up by 3-4 dbs, I go back in the mix session and work it out there

    I only buy plug-ins once a year on Black Friday. I’ll buy this. I’ve been on ozone 8 since 2018 but I barely use it. I use it as a reference to judge my personal master. After I did my own master I’ll bypass those plug-ins on my master buss and add ozone and cross references

    Wow. It's really getting pretty obvious now that the profession of being a mastering engineer is one of the first music industry jobs that AI will eliminate, for most intents and purposes. Might still be some real high-end work left, but that'll be it.

    Rubbish. Ozone etc only help the indie / homebased artists, which is ok. Anyone who knows their stuff will want a human to take their stems and do some magic, especially get it to match the target music genre, not just some averaged "pop" market sound.

  • @MaxxBigg

    @MaxxBigg

    @@nicok5630 I think you're going to be surprised. Sure, for the highest end stuff that actually has a snowball's chance in hell of making any money at all in an era when 100,000+ songs are being uploaded to Spotify every day might warrant some extra, professional love. 99% of artists can get great results with Ozone. And interestingly, MATCHING content to the sonics of a specific genre is EXACTLY what AI based mastering like Ozone is good at. I think there are some mastering engineers out there who are overestimating their "magic." ;) Another important thing to remember is that "mastering" is no longer written in stone as it was in the days of vinyl, CDs and cassettes. If a track you've got on streaming is showing promise, you can always remaster it differently and upload a fresh file.

    'Clarity' very nice but breathes too much treble and that is a problem. If you master like that and at home I have treble in the EQ, it sounds like crap. You have to master with a 'flatter' sound.

  • @b.hornetiii.6771

    Clarity does clarity in a clinical way so this is a bad thing right from the start. It also destroyes tightness of the mix and the "far away", "mystic" element of the mix. I could go on and on. It's a good feature for beginners to see what boring high end sounds like. :) Stem Focus is a nice feature, saves a lot of time if you made a mistake in the mix and the rest is O.K. too. So I would give it a score 8.9 from 0 - 10. Ozone is great tool for "the next stop" before going into the real mastering app's ... It's a no go for to use as a "main" mastering "engine". It's too soft, lack character, too loose etc. Use it as a fine tunning element before going into "something stronger". I use ... When I retire I'll write a book, haha.

    @@TheAerovons Well, it takes also a human to do things ... So if you don't know what you're doing, no high end gear or even Ozone 1000 can't help you and vice versa; you can have a pro on Ozone 6 doing things a beginner in a million dollars studio can't do. For me Ozone is the best for remastering old hits etc. as a "all in one" tool because you have already top notch mixes and all the high end transformers, amp's etc. in the chain ... But(for me) to use it as a final mastering tool, no way. As I said, the best tool, but only to a point; for me ... :))

All these new features can destroy a master like they can make a master sound amazing, it all depends how you work with them. So for me there's no real mastering apps, but real mastering engineers :-)

    Here's what I think...Sounds like a title for a cheesy podcast. I've ben working with 10 for a few months and just upgrade from to 11 because I for what I'm currently doing...resurrecting 40 year old mixes...I thought the clarity and stem focus plugs would help tremendously. Meanwhile...I have indulged many vids on Ozone to assist in my acclimation to Ozone which is by far, mile above anything I've ever encountered as a singer/songwriter/musician...and very novice engineer...did I mention the novice part? So that said...as I meander thru these miscellaneous toots and review vids I continue to find many of them jumping to serious assumptions of the viewer. All things considered and basic headphones aside...as the before and after demos for each particular module setting or change is revealed...in many videos including this one...I really cannot hear the difference in some examples. Now I have a really good ear, but what I find frustrating is when "You Guys" with your genius ears quickly run thru the motions on these different module before/after samples then make comments on the changes "You" hear...It just seems an arrogant assumption that because "You" hear it..."We" hear it also. When you do this for a living, you eventually get pretty good at it...yet you're forgetting something here...the other pros aren't watching these vids. I believe we're called "Laypersons". So...if I were to offer a supportive suggestion for the different module samples...maybe...maybe spend a few more seconds of analysis toward the change and description as to what "You" are hearing. Maybe just a bit more elaboration for us simpletons who make up the majority of your audience. So...that's what I think...thoughts...?

    Impressive, but I must pee on the parade. With A. I. doing all the art like: drawing, making music, and mixing and mastering; what is the point in learning anything anymore? Why learn to draw or mix or play an instrument? I'm not totally anti-A. I. but it does seem to get a little disheartening sometimes. I used to tell people that it would be cool to have a way to hook wires to our heads and just think the music and it would be. Now that may actually lurk around the next corner.

    I'm not a fan of fixing bad mixes in the mastering process. there are much better results when you mix near perfect. then a good limiter/maximizer will do the job. OZONE is a bit overrated in my opinion.

  • @mixdownonline

    @mixdownonline

    Yes, it's way easier to master a super good mix, but even if you add more processing than just a Limiter when mastering, that doesn't mean the Mix was a bad one, and needs to be fixed. It's more about enhancing than correcting in relation to the other songs part on the same EP or album, if any. That's my job as a mastering engineer.
