I know we are only 2 episodes in but I am already obsessed with these two... even though their romance is quite disturbed in many ways. I can't believe we FINALLY got an actual confirmed queer Louis/Lestat on-screen relationship. I feel like we've waited for this to happen foreverrrrrrrr. The song is "Paper Dolls" by Rob Thomas.

As a long time fan of the first two novels. I am obsessed with this show.
Just watched an interview with Sam. He laid the whole thing out so clearly. Lestat has immeasurable power. Strength, flight, reading minds, controlling minds, immortality....but he has to sublimate all of this in order not to scare Louis. He could have destroyed Mr. Anderson and Mr. Fenwick immediately, could have shut up Paul at the dinner table permanently. But he has to constantly cool it. Until....

I love the relationship between these two but when reading the books i never took "lovers" to the hyper-sexualized level of this show. Lestat needed Louis but also loved him. Louis hated Lestat but also loved him. Perhaps i'm just overprotective of my reading of Lestat. He's one of the greatest, fullest, richest fictional characters of all time.

They didn't have sex in the books, as far as I recall they couldn't physically do the deed so the connections between the characters in the books are more of an emotional bond which makes it more special to me, deeper and more profound. However, in this highly sexualized society that we live in, you just can't have a tv show without sex. Sex sells. It sucks, but that's the way it is. Am I bothered by how explicit Louis and Lestat are here, no. But do I need them to be, no. It is what it is though. I've accepted it :)

@@KiannaKitter that’s how i read it.. a deep intimate love but not sexual. Their relationship, as it grows through time, is very sweet & monolithic in a way. I love how Lestat has his own chair in Louis “home” & Lestats excitement at seeing Louis in QOTD.. their relationship traverses the series & it was beautiful to see how it changed.. and yet stayed the same

Agreed but I'm very glad that the series took it to such a sexual level because sex always elevates everything in a relationship
