IVE's new song MV is filled with Chinese elements, yet they insist it's in Korean traditional style. It's like claiming someone else's belongings as your own. Culture isn't something you can just repackage at will. If they're using Chinese elements, they must explicitly state they're drawing from Chinese culture, or else they're cultural thieves!

The concept is from Korean folklore. In Korean folklore, the '해 (hae)' meaning the sun holds significant symbolism, often representing the passage of time and the flow of life and 해야(Heya) is like calling the sun. In Korean folk tales instead of "once upon a time" we use "back when tigers used to smoke". In the music video Yoojin got the pipe and all members are tigers. A tiger appears as a villain in the most famous Korean folk tale called "the sun and the moon". The tiger leaves a famous line "If you give me a piece of rice cake, I won't swallow you," which seems to have been replaced by the lyrics of Yujin's part, "If you give me your heart, I won't bite it." and also 해(Hae, the sun) is from the folk tale. So, IVE members are likened to tigers that will swallow your heart. The heart is likened to the sun. It's not official! It's just my opinion as a Korean :)

@@winnieXiong-cd3do you must be lacking historical and geographical knowledge... please do research before commenting things that make you sound unlearned. korean folklore has been influenced by Chinese folklore because of geographical similarities and historical interactions between the two countries. but the folklore that they are representing in the mv is clearly the Korean version of these common folklore concepts,as they are a KOREAN pop group. also its not strictly Chinese culture that Korean folklore draws its inspiration. its more the influence of Buddhism, daoism and confucianism and the ancient trade relations between goryeo and the ancient Chinese dynasties. by blatantly stating that its not Korean but only Chinese is in itself quite offensive, i'd say. you're erasing years of mingling between countries and regions.

HEYA blew me away. The vocals were downright heavenly and the mv was so pretty. Yujin's highnote was sooooo GOOD and Wonyoung and Liz's pre-chorus gave me chills. And the raps were also so damn good this comeback is an 11/10👏✨️

Did you notice after Yujin's high note Liz went in with her Falsetto and liz and yujin adlibs continue....

Ive's 'HEYA' is an imaginative and deep song with the motif of a classic Korean fairy tale. It will be more interesting if you know the Korean classics about the tiger, the hundred-year-old fox, and the sun and moon. The lyrics, full of satire and metaphor, are amazing.
