Rented an RV with the Ford V10 engine a couple of years ago. Down and up the West Coast it drank 950 liters of petrol, and managed a fuel consumption of just under 3 litres per European mil. In mpg that is 7,8

That was some road trip. Hard to comprehend 2500 mile road trip here in the UK, (that's like going from Lands end, Cornwall to John O Groats, Scotland and back twice) Most I ever did in one go was from northern Germany to mid Italy, which took about 30 hours. Nice vid look forward to the repairs.

As hot as it was, even with the dash a/c running, why didn't you have your upper dash fans positioned towards you and on for better air flow in the cockpit? And since you taped up the refrig vent on the roof, the side vent is not enough to keep the unit cool in that heat, but guess you found that out. BTW, below the refrig is the furnace/heater if not known yet. The awning.....that was a disaster. I'm not all the way through with this so I hope it gets better for you! I-40 is the shortest route through Texas, otherwise it will take a couple of days (middle or southern route) almost! Georgetown's usually have a 75-80 gallon tank. Had one for 17 years.

I drove cross country to my university in the 1980's. There were so many bugs I had to travel with a roll of paper towels and Windex to stop and clean them off the windshield every few hundred miles. Shame you couldn't spend a night near the Grand Canyon. I would budget time to stop and see the sights, especially if you don't plan to be out that way again for the foreseeable.
