can you please start giving examples of how you would document as a nurse after these scenarios?

hey! just as an FYI with NS flushes, you need to pull back on the plunger to break the seal before applying forward pressure to eject the air :) Otherwise its a little sloppy , and annoying to coworkers who get splashed !

Why do you need to check for compatibility if you are clearing the line with a normal saline flush?

what if normal saline is running through the primary line, do you still need to flush?

When i was in intensive care, i had a nurse that would push cyclizine through my line so fast that it actually made me vomit. It took two times for me to make the connection that it was that that was making me puke. To this day i still dont know if i have an intolerance to cyclizine, or whether it was because the nurse slammed that stuff straight into my veins

Do you need to use a pulse technique? Like push-pause when pushing meds?

What I've always found really useful is to break down the time of the push into smaller increments. For example, if I need to push 1 mL of medication over 2 minutes, that can feel difficult to space out and control. But, just break it down. That's 0.5 mL over 1 minute, or 0.25 mL over 30 seconds. - Ellis

Yes. But make sure you swab in between and make sure your push and what’s infusing is compatible

I am sure after a iv push my bp elevated..It wasn't 110 over 80, then nurse did a iv push in what looked like a 10ml type syringe..as I watch everything..Within a while I had a boom boom feeling in my head, and felt very strange, a feeling I have never had, and I am a small , exercising, never eat junk food, don't smoke, drink at xmas only..So they took my bp...it wasm180 over 110..yet they'd taken it that morning..I had to tell them I felt queen after the push, honestly it was done so fast, like flash and it was in...It took about 3 days for it to return to normal...They seemed sort of non plusses over it..I asked if I could have something to reduce it as it made me feel so anxious, even when I was not thinking about it, it still gave me this high anxiety feeling..

Did the medication happen to be compazine? It can sometimes cause akasthesia which is described as a "sense of inner restlessness" but when I experienced it, it made me so anxious I wanted to rip out my IV and jump out of a window. It has nothing to do with how fast or slow it was pushed, it's just a very unfortunate side effect that can sometimes occur.
