There is a very sad story in how this song came about she ( IU) lost friends to suicide and she tried to deal from this tragedy and remember her beloved friends and as you know Suga has been dealing through depression this, so IU knew that he Suga would give his all in the production of this song 🎵 I hope you will find the explanation in the meaning of this song, Thank you for discovering these gems 💎 💔😢

IU, a 14 year music career, more #1 hits than you can count. Plus she's starred in multiple hit TV series and her latest feature film is about to premiere at Cannes film festival. I've seen other K-pop idols burst into tears when they meet her.

IU is amazing! She’s one of the best vocalists in South Korea and this song is so special. It’s like an homage to some of her friends that were kpop idols by they have passed away (su*c*d*) 🥺

Jungkook used to have a huge crush on IU when he was younger. There are whole video compilations of Jungkook being whipped for IU. And why not? She’s beautiful, talented, kind, and gives tons of her money away to charity and especially children’s charities.

All of IUs music videos are like mini movies. But she's been around forever so she has a lot of music if you want to go down that rabbit hole. Lilac, Blueming, and The Red Shoes are my favorites by her even if they are all totally different styles of songs.

i love this song and iu -- she's a real pro with one of the longest careers: she's been active since 2008! you should totally check the dkdktv video about this song, it is rumoured to be about sulli who passed away in 2018; some even say it might be about jonghyun as well, he passed away in 2017. they were all very good friends and this song always makes me especially nostalgic -- i was a big fan of jjong. anyway, i think yoongi gets the time for it because he genuinely needs the creative process to deal with all the other stuff.

We know artis in SK know each other even have chat groups. And Jonghyun was BTS's close friend.

beside IU being a great singer, she really is brilliant, she is also a pretty talented actress. If you watch closely the last seconds of the MV, when she wakes up in the memory recording machine, she clearly shows 3 very distinct emotions, while in the background there is the faint sound of "are you happy now". Sadness, for loosing her dear friends, wondering if they are happy now, sad-smile for all the good memories that she saved, and last anger, towards the haters who drove her friends to this extreme, asking them "are you happy now?", as in are you satisfied now that they are gone. This song always makes me cry, so i rarely listen to it, even though it is, undoubtedly, a masterpiece. If you have the time and opportunity, you should check out IU's other songs, she is really amazing, and like BTS a genuinely good person.

IU is an amazing singer and song writer herself also both she and Suga were born the same year so another thing to the title is the both turned 28 the year this came out so the meaning of being (2)8 she mentioned I think. It’s kinda crazy but such a compliment to Suga she sought him for this collab and both said it was fast and effortless, apparently he’s just easy going and super fast to work with. Also as an aside she took a lot of flack from toxic BTS fans because Jungkook has a huge crush on her and says she’s his ideal type so she’s always been a bit distant from BTS to not stir that up again (so sad) so it was a surprise that this collab happened and win awards and topped charts. As far as making music the guys tease it’s literally all he does in his spare time and is really introverted and doesn’t go out although I think the guys balance him and keep him from being too isolated. He’s got a crazy big range of styles of hit songs he’s produced.

This is to her friends in heaven, "Are you no longer suffering?" She is asking, 'Are you happy?" On the other hand, she is asking the antis who drove her friend to suicide, 'Are you happy that you drove them to suicide? Is this the end you wanted?" She is angry with them. IU is lying on the machine, trying to keep the memory of her friend alive so that she will not forget even a small part of her friend's memory.

This is a great collaboration between IU and Suga.

IU is the best singer. I only have her songs on Spotify. Her songs are not like the rest. I think it is clear to you from the translation of the song and the meaning of the words. There is a wonderful consistency, not just words to fit the melody. She is the best writer and she won this award and deserves, she is number one Solo singer

I really like IU and she has such a great voice! I think she and Yoongi really connect personally in a way that they really become friend and respect each other! Just saying she has been through such a hardship as a young artist and yet triumph !

IU's Killing voice from Dingo is a must watch in my opinion, you wont be let down that's for sure , her raw talent is on another level, she started to write and produce and compose her own music at 18 ( 3 years after her debut), and currently owns 30% of EDAM entertainment (the company that she is signed under.. and has only 2 clients ) making her basically her own boss

@@robertalanfowler4287 Killing voice is ok think after one have listened to most for her title tracks at least and a few other lives. Its good but not the best showcase of her live singing as she was sick on the day of recording so her voice their is a bit thin compared to usual.

Yoongi can find time for everything despite his busy schedules. Making music is not a problem for him because he can make masterpieces in just less than an hour or even minutes. That's how versatile of an artist he is.

"suga makes everything beautiful" i agree, if suga wasn't there the song may not be as good but it would still be an awesome song.

Sucha beautiful bright song but it always makes me cry...knowing its actually a deeply sad painful song about loss. Ofcourse suga just gets it. He has the capacity to understand the artist he produces for like no other. He is different with each one.

Where does he find the time ? Well, when you watch their vlogs from travels, concert tours and other BTS related content, you see him working constantly. He doesn´t play games, he doesn´t go to parties, he doesn´t do a lot of stuff others tend to do ( nothing wrong with that btw) - he just works. He is known for carrying his equipment, wherever they go, even when they tour, because he works 24/7. Even during their In the Soup videos you could see he chose to live in a separate mini van/ recording studio unit and was there doing his stuff while others enjoyed their free time. To become a world class producer on THIS level and at SUCH tender age, you have to put in thousands of hours:-) Eight is a gorgeous song, and I always cry real bad when I hear it. Its such a light cheery melody, deceptive of whats really going on here, making you believe you are hearing a dancy summer hit, but when you start to pay closer attention to how she vocalizes, and then read the lyrics your heart breaks :-/ The story goes the song is about her going down the memory lane, trying to get over loss of two of her close Idol friends who both committed suicide. Love this collaboration. I think it was IU who reached out to Suga with an offer, the same as Halsey did, in attempt of having him "translating" sensitive, emotional nature of their material to the final product they wanted :-)

I know it was Suga that drew you to this song and that is fine. However, like others who are being introduced to IU through this song and Suga you naturally have made assumptions that are incorrect.
