He's amazing. The emotion this piece draws from the listener is so complicated. Bach's music tends to be described as enigmatic in that you can't tell what Bach was feeling when writing a particular piece. The reason for that is the emotion is truly mixed. The happiest times are followed by the saddest times then up again. It is not a pure joy or pure sadness. That is the human experience.

Probably because I am most used to it, I favour the guitar transcription. For one thing, the arpeggiated chords seem to have been written for a plucked string instrument (we do know that JSB sometimes played the lute). All of which is not, by any means, to imply that the violin version, especially as performed here, is anything less than wonderful.

Nothing, but all of bach's pieces do. And they try and say that the demonstration of flawless skill in counterpoint or the amount of notes is overwhelming, but if you listen and you actually know what you are listening to, there's a beginning, a fine and brilliant structure, and a definite coda.

@Haggismaker violins have four strings, and Bach writes here for four voices. The points where all four strings are written for simultaneously are impossible to play without a slight delay so a slight break in tempo is inevitable unless the notes are given very short duration, which then would sound unbalanced. Having said that it`s worth checking out the recording Menhuin made of this in 1935, for me anyway, a performance with more depth to it than I`ve heard from anyone since.

@moemoeloe well, it's his interpretation, he is such a great artist that he can really play it the way he wants. It's not said, that you have to play Bach in a baroque way. And as Shostakovich said " A great piece of music is beautiful regardless of how it is performed. Any prelude or fugue of Bach can be played at any tempo, with or without rhythmic nuances, and it will still be great music."
Very beautiful, amazing! Maestro Itzhak Perlman.I love your interpretation..... You are the BEST.I like You very much 🎻🌹❤️
Excellent quality. Best version I have heard in a long while.
We are lucky to breathe the same air and listen to this man.
One of my favorite bach pieces
Holy crap this is amazing. Layers and layers of melodies that just continue weaving into one another. What a fantastic interpretation.
This is the most wonderful performance ever!!!
I love this song! Itzahk Perlman is amazing
sin palabras MAESTROOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!LOMAS ENTRE TODOS..............LOS MAS GRANDES!!GRACIAS POR HABERME HECHO DISFRUTAR HASTA EL ALMAAAAA SUS MELODIA TAN DUCTIL TAN DULCE TAN ANGELICAL!!!TODA RABA!!ADONAI KADOSH TSEBAOT ME MANDO UN ANGEL !!!!BENDICIONES UN ABRAZO EONES DE LUZZZ!!!!!!!b!h
Muito lindo e agradavel ouvir essas musicas
What a magnificent piece! The few I've heard on KZread play it very strong--so-to go back to Nikcevic Boris's comment-we are listening to Bach in a very strong creative storm. Moments like these---hard to find---and the average composer cannot pick these off a tree......beautiful, serious music........
Bach is together wonderful Maestro Itzhak Perlman, you are so great, Hy is together my favorite violinist 🎻❤️🌹
I'm learning the piano version rn in a duet with my teacher and it just takes my breath away😭❤

So soulful.. It went right through into my heart..
That is just lovely, what a sound!
NO doubt to adore to this great musician... but my heart and soul beats for Michael Rabin!
That powerful and tragic introduction...one can tell where Brahms got his influence.

That is the human experience.

addi wei Surely you can't disagree that those first eleven notes are heart-wrenching, even if the sonata resolves itself later on.

*Stops the gramophone, breaking the loop, thus causing Pavel to merge with the wall*
One of my favourite recordings of this movement. As if he was was playing several violins, of different makers, at the same time. He makes extremely good use of the positive acoustic, simulating a Baroque organ, despite somewhat Romantic bowing.
I agree, the most wonderful!
thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you... free\'s my soul...
Beautiful,thanks !!!
Bach has an unmistakable sound
Simply amazing!
*Terrific and beautyful!! *
Great Master of Vilion..
He plays this so beautiful, I'm starting to learn this and I'm not 1/8 as good. I'd love to have a sound like this
☀️ THANKYOU MAESTRO ITZHAK F.☀️

The king of violin
Heavenly !!!!!!
Das ist unglaublich.........
just amazing!
"There is no excellent beauty that hath not in it some strangeness of proportion." -Francis Bacon
Beautiful
Bach may not have been deaf but he defnitely knew grief in his lifetime.
Belissimo!!!
Incredible!!!
Великолепно!
Beautiful quality.
Thanks a bunch. 😇
The piano version of this one is also amazing. Very spiritual piece. I would recommend the recording of Angelika Zabel if you can get her recording

He is very nice violinist 좋아염
such a great piece. I have learned it technically the only thing bothering me is learning the most expressive way to play it.

No need to. It is difficult to learn I had a very very hard time learning it too. Just needs practice. Especially the first part when it comes to the rythm, and the second part when it comes to balancing two notes. Just practice.

+Mavil It's funny because it's actually a pretty slow piece but the notes are freakin' crazy and it looks way more complicating than it really is.

Thank you
Bach & Perlman, complete and total genius. What else is there to know?
Nothing, but all of bach's pieces do. And they try and say that the demonstration of flawless skill in counterpoint or the amount of notes is overwhelming, but if you listen and you actually know what you are listening to, there's a beginning, a fine and brilliant structure, and a definite coda.
Dommage qu'il manque le presto (dernier mouvement de la première sonate pour violon seul de Bach)
LOVE IT
Sublime....
Amazing!
Bravo.

Я знаю ,что не первый затрону тему о феномене Баха.Если судить с точки зрения нашего времени это всё гениально.Но ведь творчество композитора тесно связано с развитием всего общества.И вот здесь -загадка.
Iove 💖👍good
Amazing
me too, angry mix with some sadness, very complex emotion.
If you told me that there was a Violinist who plays more expressively than this guy... you'd be wrong ;)
@Rembrandt96
7 жыл бұрын
Tristan Kersten heard of maxim vengerov? he defines expressive playing
@xempress you might be going a bit extreme with that notion. if a violinist who had no clue about sound or tone quality played this, he would crush the beauty of it.

When a person says that a piece by Bach has no beginning or no end, that it is all a mindless melodic collection of notes, I show them this.
