ITV's Blockbusters - Series 11 Episode 1 - 18th April 1994 (HD)

Ойын-сауық

In 1994, Sky One created a new series with original host, Bob Holness. It was produced by Central, which had made the programme since 1983, and sponsored by Thomas Cook. Sky One brought the series back again in 2000, this time produced by Grundy (which owned the format) and presented by Liza Tarbuck, but it failed to capture the same degree of popularity as the Holness incarnation. The format stayed the same in both versions.

It’s good to see that Central were allowed the production credit for Blockbusters on Sky One. Bob Warman’s Price is Right in 1989 was clearly produced by Central but it was credited to Talbot Television instead.

“Can I have an F please bob?” “Yes but I don’t have time to give it to you.” It’s the silly joke that never gets old..

It's sooooo odd to figure these late-teens in 1994 are now close to 50 years old in 2023.

Yes. They get them to do that in the audience for some reason.

Actually this is the sky one’s version of the show because of the intro music also the show ended on itv a few months prior (maybe 1995?) and plus I’ve just noticed that the central end card doesn’t have “for itv” underneath “a central production” edit: I’ve just realised it was 1994 when it ended on itv and I’ve read the description

Didn't they used to do a weird dance at the end of the episodes?

James Fisher This version of the theme is taken from 1994 when the show switched to Sky One after many ITV regions dropped it. It was still shown in the Anglia, Central, Tyne Tees, Yorkshire and Border regions though.

Yep, bit of bass-slapping going on there. Not unusual in the early-mid-'90s (see also: Gladiators)

It is. When Blockbusters was dropped from the ITV Network, Sky decided to recommission the show for one season. Oroduced by Central, it aired on Sky One, as well as these select ITV channels: Anglia, Carlton, Tyne Tees, Yorkshire and Border.
