His loop footwork on those skates looks better than what skaters are doing on regular skates today. Many of today's elite skaters attempt to do loop footwork, but they end up spinning a one revolution circle and then it stops with no flow coming out. Loops are great for advanced footwork when they are done right, but they are becoming a lost art.

I have tried this many times on ice hockey skates, and I would say it all has to do with how sharp the blades are. Any hockey player on new sharpened skates will get stuck in the ice and stumble direct. But on dull skates I have manage to do up to like 8 spins on 1 foot and even more on 2 foots.

yeah it's funny how they discontinued the compulsory figures and now figure skaters are required to do so in the moves in the fields...even so like you said..many are sloppy or not completed..

The worst thing they did was stop compulsory figures.

in order: walz jump, 1 axel, and double salchow and a edited double axel?

is that 100% for sure icehockey skate with a standard hockey blade sharpening?

both the double axels changed cameras just at the landing... very strange. But to be honest, I failed a waltz jump on ice hockey skates and landed on my knee... ouch =D also it is impossible to do any kinds of spins on ice hockey skates that have been sharpened for hockey games... but it is possible to do spins when your skates are dull, or if you have no sharpness on the front of the blades.
