    Many thanks for an excellent video, Matty. I've had my Itiwit 3 for a year now and thoroughly enjoyed it. One puncture in the base gave me a taste of the reality of owning an inflatable canoe/kayak... otherwise it has proven the test of time. It's very stable and very well made. I've taken a mate out fishing along Seacliffe Road, Bangor and yep, the hooks made me worry, but the robust shell of the Itiwit proved it could handle the odd snag. I use a small grapple anchor on a recycled fishing-net rope. I'll take your advice and go for the two-way pump... a one-way and electric pumps are too slow. Many thanks again

    You should move the rubber rings farther down toward the paddle. They make the water from the paddle drip off wherever they are, so you want the water to drip off as far out from the kayak as you can. If you still get wet drips in your lap, then you need a longer paddle.

    I bought hypalon (rubber type) inflateble kayak. Manufacturer recommends best to store it slightly inflated. If there is insufficient space available, the boat may loosely be rolled up - under no circumstances shall the boat be bundled and laced tightly, or something heavy to be loaded on top. What about PVC type ITIWIIT? Do they allow it to be stored in a bag as you folded it?

  • @goyourownrea2026

    @goyourownrea2026

    Hey Dave, great to hear you've got yourself a kayak! Did you pick up a decent paddle / oar too? I think in this video I was using a real cheap one and towards the end of last summer I got an itiwit one for around £30 and it made a HUGE difference when out. Just wish there was somewhere for a small electric motor or something to mount lol! I was just out yesterday again fishing seeing the weather in Ireland has been beautiful! I'd recommend firstly getting a kayak rod, if you don't have one already. I then have old cork pieces from a wine bottle (plenty of those lying around the house) and I cover each hook right up until fishing time. I've a small pouch full in my tackle bag. Then i put the cork back on for journey home. It's maybe over kill but dude, taking the extra bit of time and care will help. I also line the inside of the kayak with a few towels, mostly to keep water spillage inside at a minimum / dirt and sand getting in but it also provides the rod and hooks extra safety. As for fishing I'm yet to get anywhere near the kayak when reeling in and casting out...usually I'm feather fishing so it's almost always just plopped over the side, I wouldn't go full swing cast just in case... and if you catch just take your time and guide the fish slowly so they don't go up underneath etc..oh and if you can use a small net, I'd rather spend 5mins taking a hook outta the netting than hear a pop sound lol! Hope this helps, and be safe bro when out!

    How sturdy is it? Could you sit up on your knees for instance and shift around a little bit if you needed to? Easy to bring a cooler if you wanted to do a picnic on board? Is it easy to carry it once inflated? Another random question - is it feasible to bring the pump on board with you if your car is parked far away?! Thank you!

  • @goyourownrea2026

    @goyourownrea2026

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey Katie, I'd say pretty much YES to all your questions. You can 100% sit on your knees, again obviously within reason/be smart about it... we've actually once changed seating whilst out on the water, it can be a little uneven for obvious reasons but carefully done I'd imagine you could easily sit on your knees. I ALWAYS wear a life jacket and at times we've even sat on the sides...I usually sit on the side at the beginning when launching (mostly to drip dry my feet lol) and I've even tried to tip the kayak on purpose to prove how sturdy it is and it was impossible to flip it in water...you'd literally have to lift it out of water for it to flip you out (obviously bad/rough weather will prob send ya flying too!) Depends totally on the size of your cooler and how many people are going out at once...if it's just you or 2 of you you'll have absolutely no issue getting a typical cooler in with you. I usually bring bags with those frozen ice blocks or something that can cram into the little elastic end bits where there's some cover from the kayak for extra safety for my grub! Out of the bag, the kayaks almost easier to carry once inflated ... especially with two of you...one grabs each end and away you go! There's plenty of handles on sides and ends. If you're solo again it's pretty easy, if you're not on sand and can't just drag it behind you, I grab both side handles and lift it...but if you're alone prob always better to inflate by the waters edge. And finally, yes you can most certainly bring the pump onboard, if you're travelling a fair distance the pump actually clips into the bag on the side via elastic bandings. (Didn't show that in the videos 🤦) Hope this helps, stay safe!

  • @goyourownrea2026

    @goyourownrea2026

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yeah I'll be honest the threat is obviously quite high when using hooks and an inflatable...but I'm yet to come anywhere near a hook doing even the slightest bit of damage. Just take precautions, I cork or use some polystyrene foam to coat the hooks when I'm travelling out and back and any other hooks or lures are boxed and in my bag. I use a kayak rod and small telescope landing net too so it keeps things almost at an arm's length so if you get a bit of a fight from a fish it's quite easy to land them without it going under the boat etc. I sometimes use one of those plastic basin sinks or a bucket you can get for a few pounds to store the fish whilst I unhook them or I'll line the inside of the kayak with a few old towels too but thats mostly to keep as little water getting in and around but it gives that extra bit of protection and I've learnt now to shake the fish off the hooks outside the boat which will save hooks coming in and outta the boat. Hope this helps!

    I haven't deliberately tried to play with any hooks or sharp objects with the material but I've obviously had them come close to the kayak when retrieving etc. Just stay smart. Hey Wendy, yes for me a towel or two is enough to fully dry it. The material used on the outside doesn't overly absorb much water (if any) and it's incredibly easy to wipe clean. Most water lies beneath the inner inflatable tubing (the one you sit on) so be sure to get in there well with a towel. If it gets ridiculously wet and you can be bothered, once home (and if dry) reinflate and leave to sit in sun. I've done this many times, even taking the inner tube out and resting across my car roof to fully air out.

    Hey man, if occasionally with 2 people this model is definitely enough, 50% of the time I use mine I'm with someone else. Saying that, I've been out plenty of times solo and it's fine, I'm 6'1 so I like that I've loads of room, I imagine with 3 people including me it would be too tight a squeeze, but maybe it's because I hate sitting with my legs crossed for a long period haha! 1-2 people this kayak is perfect! Stay safe!

    @@goyourownrea2026 thanks man I’m picking mine up today! I live in South Wales so after watching your videos I want to use it to catch bass and mackerel in the summer, will be solo at times and two of us so for sure I’ll get the orange. What is it like solo out at sea? Does it feel unstable or is it okay on a calm day? Thanks again love your content keep it up !

    @@realrobprice yeah just be a little careful in the sea, you can get dragged away quite quickly, I don't even bother going out solo now if it's in anyway 'rough' I find you're spending the entire time paddling against the current or wind etc. I've had some amazing fishing days though in the kayak, caught near 30 mackerel during first summer of covid in one day, was unbelievable

    Speaking of fins. I just bought a new Itiwit and I can't the fins on or off! I get them half way in the slot and then it stops too tight. Any reason why?
