I'm so glad you took this kayak over some little rapids. Other videos suggest that you wouldn't want to take it anywhere more sporty than a flat lake on a calm day. It was cool to see the boat do well as you bump over rocks and such. I'm planning on getting the X100 with the dropstitch floor so I have somewhere to sleep on my trip down the Mekong.

Thank you for convincing me the kayak I have is also good for rafting. I just searchet for going out on the sea and also got some results for this environment. I just got it out on mountain lakes, big water reservoirs, 7-10 km in length. Your adventure going with train upstream and then going down to the lake is much more interesting then a circuit back to your car. But I think now about how to improvise with locals, maybe, for a transport at the destination. THANK YOU. BRAVO! (from Romania with passion and sun. We have here Vidraru, Siriu, Paltinul mountain lakes and many more)

My pleasure, I'm glad I convinced you. Meanwhile I was several times with it in the Rhine Gorge and the kayak and myself survived. But I learned, it's good to wear a helmet additionally to the live vest. It sometimes happens very fast, that rocks can knock you out, when you tip over in a creek. So even if the kayak itself is very robust, safety considerations are very important in the cold an wild water of mountain creeks. I hope you have lots of fun, all the best to Romania!

Ich hab richtig Freude daran. Ja diese Fahrt auf der Seez war für mich als Greenhorn an der oberen Grenze. Wobei es im Video wegen der Weitwinkeloptik, schlimmer aussieht als in Realität. Weitwinkel ist ein kleiner Trick um Action nach noch mehr Action aussehen zu lassen 😃

Hah that's cool. Thanks for writing. You have the Itiwit 100 as well? Last Saturday I just rode down a creek and some distance in the lake constance. 34km in total, it was quite a trip but I loved it.

Yeah 34km was definitively enough for me 😀. 2/3 of the distance there was decent current which obviously helped a lot to eat kilometers. But the last third, the current became slower and slower and the last 5km was lake 😀. Next time I'll plan a shorter trip. Or a longer 💪🤠👍. Have fun!

Hallo Karl, ja es ist ein wenig bekannter Geheimtip. Das dürfte aber auch daran liegen, dass die Seez meistens zu wenig Wasser für das befahren hat, nur bei Schneeschmelze oder nach viel Regen geht das. Im oberen Teil war es teilweise grenzwertig und ich manchmal stecken geblieben, haha. LG von Schwendi

Hi Colin, yeah it's really sturdy. Easily transpoeted: well, to be honest, it has some weight. Few weeks ago we hiked about 6km and I had it on the back. This was OK, but hiking farther or with more altitude becomes a problem. At least for me 😃. Atb from Schwendi

Hallo Martin, vielen Dank! Ja, ich habe grosse Freude am Itiwit. Inzwischen habe ich sogar ein zweites Exemplar in Alaska, siehe mein anderes Video mit dem Itiwit in Alaska. Dieses lüft allerdings nicht gerade, irgendwas ist da wohl krumm :). Mein Itiwit das ich hier habe, läuft einwandfrei gerade. Die Nummer auf dem Seezkanal letztes Jahr war toll, im unteren Teil hatte es dann doch ein paar Stromschnellen, die meinen Puls etwas hochjagten, aber alles gut gegangen 😃. Hey Schwendi, das ist Mega Mega cool! So eins muss ich auch haben! Ja wirklich! Ich hatte mal ein Paddelschlauchboot das war auch cool aber so ein Kajak aber ich glaube das ist genau das richtige für mich. 💪🏼🙏Hey Respekt dass du an diesem Fluss im Kajak warst, aber wunderschöne Landschaft.🌲🌳👍 ein Tipp von mir, Kauf dir eine 12 V Luftpumpe die dein Kajak automatisch aufbläst.. Danach musst du nur noch ein bisschen nachhelfen und die Sache steht. So eine Pumpe kannst du beim Auto anstecken oder auch an eine power Bank mit 12 V Power delivery. Glück auf!

Hey Manu, vielen herzlichen Dank fürs zuschauen und kommentieren. Ja, ich kann es sehr empfehlen. Es hat ein zwei Nachteile, aber für den Preis ist es echt super. Ein identisches Teil steht schon in Alaska für mich bereit, kanns kaum erwarten... Danke für den Tipp mit der 12V Pumpe. Ist kein Problem, ich habs jeweils mit der Handpumpe im handumdrehen aufgepumpt, keine grosse Sache. Herzlicher Goldgruss von Schwendi

Ach das hat Spass gemacht, dir beim paddeln zuzusehen. DU hast lt. Film tatsächlich noch ein bischen Aufholbedarf beim paddeln😅😅 zumindest hatte ich das Gefühl beim zuschauen. Ich bin absolut kein Kanuprofi. Immer wieder super verpackt deine Vid's Andy

Lack of beer can holders... The boat works. Thanks to Schwendi Cruise Lines for this trip. Breeding gulls are very aggressive. If you come too close, they'll attack you like a bomber and shit on you. I experienced this by myself as I was in the navy.

Yes there are some things missing, but for this price I'm absolutely OK with the kayak. And thanks for the warning about the gully. Ich mache zu viel und es fühlt sich immer noch nach zu wenig an und ja, das Alter...😀 Es ist bei mir an der Zeit, bisschen kürzer zu treten. @@TheLensSchwendi Hallo Andreas, solange du Lust und Laune dazu hast, einfach machen. Die große Frage ist halt immer, wie dein Umfeld darauf reagiert, besser gesagt ob du die Akzeptanz bekommst. Du sprichst es an, "DIE BALANCE". Viele Sachen regeln sich dann von alleine und mit jedem Jahr, indem man älter wird hat dann die Erfahrung das sagen. Das heißt einfach, oh Mann was habe ich da bloß für einen Mist gemacht lol. Wir stehen hier alle auf einer großen Bühne, Erfolg macht erotisch aber halt manchmal auch depressiv wenn der Erfolg ausbleibt. Finde für dich heraus was wichtig ist oder ich sage immer was man gut kann. Am Ende findet man immer zu seiner Familie zurück dem Ruhepol. Du kannst jetzt schon sagen, du hast gelebt. Du warst in Sphären, die Andere nicht mal andeutungsweise kennen. Oh Mann, hey Kumpel hoffentlich hab ich nicht zu viel .......... lol. Glück Auf mein Freund

In knew the creek already, and I knew, there are no really large rapids. Except at the entry in the lake one has to be carful if swimming, because there are some downcurrents. So I was basically well prepared for the trip. But that day it had more water than usual and I was a little bit surprised by the size of the rapids. With my experience of today, I would wear a helmet if I rode this creek again in the snowmelt. But meanwhile I prefer the Rhine Gorge, which is much more beautiful than this creek.

I've been looking at this kayak. I was wondering if it was comfortable on longer trips. I've had sore back on another kayak. It had no back support or foot rests.

It's not really comfortable for long trips. A few hours are OK, my longest trip was 5-6 hours. For several days in a row, I would consider a more comfortable boat.

Hi Andreas! Ich suche schon die ganze Zeit nach einem 3 Personen Kajak was aufblasbar ist :-)... Ich glaube ich habe nun eins gefunden! Danke für das Video! Mein "großes" Schlauchboot wieg 75 Kg plus 50 Kg einbauten... bissl schwer um es "mal eben" mitzunehmen.... LG und weiterhin viel Spaß

Hi Daniel, ja ich kann das Itiwit 100 empfehlen als Einsteigermodell. Der Rucksack wiegt dann aber auch schnell mal über 30kg, je nachdem was man mitnimmt. Ich bin mal 6-7km damit gewandert. Das war schon anstrengend 😅. Aber wir Goldies sind ja zäh 💪. Vorteil: super Preis/Leistung Nachteil: das trocknen geht lang und ist mühsam. Und für 3 Erwachsene wärs eher eng, 2 E und ein Kind sollte gehen. Ich würde ev die paar Euro mehr für das X100 empfehlen. Das ist noch bissel länger und hat Dropstitch Boden und generell anderes Material das viel schneller trocknet. Laut Reviews ein echter Vorteil und generell besser. Aber das 100 ist halt supergünstig. Ich denke mal nächstes Jahr gönn ich mir das X100 😎. Goldgruss von Schwendi

@@TheLensSchwendi man könnte den Rucksack ja auch auf einem kleinen Wagen ziehen... Bei uns fahren 2 Kids und ich nur. Sollte also passen... Ob ich dieses Jahr noch eines kaufen werde weiß ich noch nicht aber wenn Du nächstes Jahr evtl doch Deines verkaufen möchtest sag bescheid.. ☺️

@@PionierDaniel Du mit zwei Kids geht super. Denk bitte an Schwimmwesten. Die gibts auch bei Decathlon ganz günstig. Mir ist noch was eingefallen, der Rucksack beim X100 ist viel besser mit breiteren Tragriemen und so. Mit Handwägelchen natürlich kein Problem. Und paar hundert Meter kann man auch locker tragen, die Kids können ja die Paddel tragen etc... Goldgruss von Schwendi

You may ask almost everything 😃. If you look at 1:00, you see, the seat is not at the back. It just looks like that in other scenes due to the wideangle lens. But it's also not perfectly in the middle, it's a bit shifted toward back for balance. But to be honest, I didn't optimize this. Maybe I could try a more balanced position. Have a nice day 👍

bin noch am überlegen ob das X100 als 2er oder 3er - auch für Alleinfahrten mit etwas Gepäck - sieht aber gut tauglich aus für bissl "Wildwasser"

Ich persönlich würde wohl eher das 3er nehmen, weil es dann genug Platz und Tragfähigkeit hat, aber ich bin auch fast 100kg und 1.90m. Ich denke, das 2er liegt etwas besser im Wasser bei Alleinfahrten. Mit Wildwasser kenne ich mich nicht auch, ich bin kompletter Anfänger. Ich denke, dass die Wildwassertauglichkeit nur sehr eingeschränkt ist, aber das hängt wohl auch von den Fähigkeiten des Paddlers ab. Liebe Grüsse

Just a question, can you handle it well while going solo? i talked with decathlon here in Portugal and they don´t recomendo to going solo because its to wide and to long to control it. but i don´t want to buy one for 1 person because then maybe i can invite a friend to tag a long ... what´s your opinion? thanks for the video

Hey man, thank you for your feedback, I appreciate. I can handle it quite well solo. It's not to wide. I'm a beginner and I'm happy it's that wide, because it makes it almost impossible to turn over. Hey Schwendi, Amazing ride through the rapids and the lake..oh so beautiful!!! One question.. did you notice any noticeable scrapes or scratches on the kayak floor after the ride?

Hey Jose, thank you for writing! No, the floor showed no visible scratches. It's really robust. I had the same kayak in Alaska and I was on the Yukon and the Chena River and the kayak was absolutely fine. Video is coming soon. The kayak has two problems though: it's hard to dry it afterwards and my kayak in Alaska (exactly the same type) has tendency to go left. My kayak I have in Switzerland goes pretty straight ahead though. It's really a good kayak for this price.

@@TheLensSchwendi KZread waterproofing with 'white or mineral spirit & silicone' mix. Brush it on & leave until completely dry. Try a very small area of the fabric first. Once dry check by pouring water over. I use this method to waterproof all my needs, boots, running shoes, clothing, backpack, hat, gloves, anything really. All the very best to you

@@TheLensSchwendi Afterwards you've only the underneath the Kayak & under the floor to wipe dry :-)

I found that there is a problem with this boat, that is, the black PVC rubber sole and the needle and thread seam of the cloth are not waterproof, they will enter the water, can you unzip the zipper, take out the airbag and test it?, this may be why the boat always cause of a lot of water

Thank you for writing. I think, my boat is waterproof. The problem is, it's difficult to dry it and with entering the boat and during paddling, water will enter for sure. On the other hand, for this price it's OK for me, that it's difficult to dry. The X-version with the drop-stitch floor is sure better regarding drying.

Korrekt !!! 😃 Ich habe inzwischen einen Helm, da ich nun schon einige Male die Rheinschlucht gefahren bin. Den Helm würde ich wohl auch auf der Seez bei Hochwasser tragen, falls ich dort wieder mal runter fahre. Ich weiss aber nicht, ob die Seez wirklich WW2 ist. Denkst Du schon?
