@FriesianHorses
Welcome to my Friesian Horses channel.
My name is Yvonne. I create and post videos about my daily life with Friesian Horses. I will show you the true Friesian Horse and what they are like: day to day care, training, riding dressage and the very special birthing of foals. I explain the facts about breeding Friesian Horses and the steps I take to help better the breed.
You will learn that Friesian Horses have a naturally high gait, whether or not they can jump, if they are good for beginners and what they eat.
You will see them running, trotting, playing and even fighting.
I show you every aspect of my life with horses; the beautiful and the not so pretty. What you see in my videos is real!
Did you know that the Friesian Horse originates from Holland, specifically Friesland? That is where I live! I hope Friesian Horses will be love at first sight for you.

He looks a little steadier as he moves but there is a noticeable weakness when he turns. He’s standing square & his hocks aren’t as “knock kneed”. He’s adjusting & is happy & pain free. That’s what’s important.
@danarenee6088

Agreed. I think he’s learning his own tricks to stabilize himself. It might be awkward but I think he’s aware that he needs to kind of pay attention to his coordination

Yes, it appears that his brain is consciously recognizing the delayed responses and anticipating that with commands sooner than would be normal. It's kind of like me, getting to be an old lady, driving with more distance from the car in front of me due to my slower reflexes now; more time to react to conditions.
@cecile862

@@danarenee6088 I've been wondering about just that. Over time is he able to learn to temper his movement to the limit of his stability? I know my own mother (human, of course) who lived for years with chronic illness, that left her with fragile skin, and because she was on anti- rejection drugs, a serious inabilty to fight infection, refused to limit herself. Just too eager to prune shrubs, mow her own lawns ,go fabric shopping for hours, cook,bake and sew for everyone. An active woman who drove my father crazy as he lived in constant terror she'd do herself an injury. 😂 During her last years. She also took loving care of many troubled young children, her greatest joy in life. I'm now lived much longer than she did and will still never match her impressive productivity. I reckon God has a couple of angels on Maureen duty - "Hey, Wings1 and Wings2, just keep an eye on her, she at it again" Wow, you've set me off down memory lane. Rising Star is so special, let's really hold onto hope, he finds that balance to live a long, love-filled, joyous life.

Since turning is where his Wobblers is most evident I’m concerned that he’ll fall when he’s running & turns to avoid the fence. One sharp turn & he could easily fall onto his haunches & break his leg or pelvis. It’s hard to see a young horse so full of energy unable to run & play to the full extent. Speaking of youngsters playing I absolutely loved Rein on his scooter with the leaf blower. Big shout out to Dad for thinking of using a leaf blower as propulsion. Now that the boys have seen it work they’ll do it over & over & get lots of enjoyment out of it.

Agree there is weakness when he turns. Wonder if he can be worked with on that. But he seems happy and his walking looked better in this video. His walking actually looked pretty normal here. And once he gets going he seems okay, but pushing off seems to take a while to signal from his brain to his legs. He is a very good-looking horse.
Risey is moving much better. You can still see that he has a defect in his hindquarters but he seems more stable and stronger.
Yvonne Risey has improved a lot. He has learned how to maneuver extremely well with his disability. You can see it still in his rear legs, but that has gotten better also. He can do a lot of things. Up down, roll run jump stop, and he's Happy and doesn't look like he has any discomfort. I truly believe this is absolutely not degenerative. Yvonne, since he's been with you, he has improved emensely. Love excellent care better diet he's on the right track. In the end, he may not be perfect, but he's very functional and Happy, and this is all because of you. You should be proud of yourself, Yvonne, because I am. You know yourself, Love and Care goes a long way it's the best medicine ever. At the beginning when R.S.came to stall H it seems that he can't stop before that fence, mut now he is having more speed but stops quite nicely as a wobbler. He learns to adapt to this state better and better. And of course his nerve system is still developing because he is young. We all hope all the best for stall H, Yvonne, her family and all the animals. We also want to see everyone at stall G. I miss seeing Wunder. These horses somehow calm me down after a busy day and of course these makes me happy.

Its just these foals are so used to Yvonne and her beautiful mem way she treats all foals and horses, and ponies. Wunder is beautiful (when he was at Stall H) and I do hope he can come back one day for Yvonne to train her own Prize Stallion for Stall H. I hope you have a lovely week.

Risey seems much more confident and in control of his movements - he can also lie down and get up better
It looks to me like Risey has come through the learning phase of being handicapped. It takes awhile for your brain to adjust and adapt, but in time it just becomes your new normal. He doesn't seem to have pain with it, so his adjustment has just been learning how not to fall. He's done a great job! Goedzo, Risey!

Very well put. I was thinking that same thing. I lost considerable stability and balance many years ago due to Guillain-Barre Syndrome. The way that I walk reflects the lack of balance but as you say, I have adjusted, adapted, and accepted. I have been able to raise my children, work, and have a normal life with a few boundaries. It does my heart good to see Risey, in his own horse way, coming to that place. He seems very happy, he seems to have no pain, and to my eyes he looks so much better than when he first came.

@@mrs.brunke443 So sorry to hear your loss. We are ??? sisters (I'm having a terrible word-search day today and can't put my mind on the word I'm looking for...lol... sorry). I have had multiple sclerosis and fibro for many years, as well. I had to use service dogs to help with my balance for about 15 years. Luckily I am an animal trainer, and had access to great dogs. Unfortunately, after my last one died, I did not have a suitable personality dog to train in this and have been without one for a long time now. My brain adjusted to the helper well, and then had to learn to adjust with no help (and an aging body). I've been watching Risey closely, and it seemed to me he was going through the same learning phases I was, but without so many falls. It's made me very happy to see him also adjust, adapt and accept, like we have. 😊 Hugs.

I'm not a horse expert, but I have prosthetic knee and can see that Risey has the best life he can have. He is limping a bit, but let me tell you - limping is better than not walking at all. Believe the woman who spent three months bedridden and crying her eyes out because she couldn't move her leg at all. Now I am walking again and limping a bit too so it looks like I am a human lost twin sister to Risey 😂

Is it my imagination, or is Risey moving with more confidence and strength every time a new video comes up? Is he learning to compensate for his disability? Back in the day, walking my dogs in Riverside Park NYC, we had a blind dog in the group who played together. You would never know it because he ran around all the trees and never hit one. Amazing! Horses and dogs are masterful at using all their own senses and picking up on what the others are doing also. I think this blind dog could hear where the others were running and followed their scent lingering in their paths.

in my opinion, just based on what we've been able to see of him, Rising Star seems to have much better control of his out-of-control body movements, if that makes sense. he's learning how to compensate for his back legs not working the way he wants, and learning what he needs to do to keep himself safe while still being able to run and jump and have a normal horse life. plus he seems to be injuring himself less and less! i think it's telling that he keeps continuing to run, keeps flagging his tail, and keeps snorting in joy when he's with you and in the arena.

Thank you, Yvonne. ❤ I think Rising Star looks like he has improved a lot. I might not notice the wobbler as much as in earlier videos. He is a strong young man and perhaps he is learning to compensate. He looks happy 🥰 PS...... I love watching your boys. They bring back sweet memories for me and I Thank You for that as well 😊😊
Risey looks better than he did the first time he came to stall H. Its all the care you give to him. Yvonne. I love the new gram for your sin. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
In any case, Risey will learn to adopt to use his hind legs as they are and will move with confidence, if not grace.
Much better, I think, if I remember correctly, there was a time when he couldn't even trot or canter. I think it's getting better the more he practices...
risey is so much better than when he first came! 🐴😀🐎🐎🐎🐎
Great idea Bauke! The best way to make work feel light is to have fun! Love to see the kids helping out and present with the adults! Risey doesn’t look better. But he is happy being in the arena.
Yes, Risey seems much better!
I think Risey`s movement became better.
Risey looks great. I wouldn't know there was anything wrong with him cz I'm not a horse person. To me, he's beautiful and always in good spirits.
It does seem that Risey is moving better. Keep up the good and patient work with him.❤❤
Risey's sliding stop seems to be a very sensible accommodation he's making as he comes up to the rails. I don't think he would come up at that pace if he was lacking confidence that he could throw his weight back a bit to stop himself. All good signs. ❤

Can not believe. I mis spelled UNIEK....ohmygosh!
I’d say Rosie looks more stabilized than better but it’s so good to see him happy. You’re giving him the best life possible. It’s just such a shame that you’ll never be able to ride him because he’s absolutely gorgeous.
Maybe the Wobbler is at the same level, but Risey has learned to handle it better.❤
He moves very well o think. Beautifull
So wonderful to see Rising Star⭐️ so happy! And moving stronger with more confident.❤❤😍😍👌🏻👌🏻He is really handsome stunning beauty❤️⭐️❤️
Rissey, beweegt beter, maar ik denk dat hij zich gelukkig voelt 🍀🐎👍🏼
Risey’s looking good!
I think Risey is adjusting nicely to his limitations
Risey definitely looks so much stronger and I think his coordination is improving too. I hope that once he gets a chance to start “school” you’ll be able to help him learn hoe to strengthen his back legs xxxxx

I may be wrong, but maybe some very cautious Lunging....?? Lisa.
If Risey is happy and pain free who cares if he has wobbler? It isn't a death sentence. Not always, sometimes time is all that is needed.
Risey looks so well, and so happy 😀… I absolutely love him 😍🥰😘❗️
The best thing about Rising is his happy and content. It shows when he runs add Flags his tail😊
I do see a noticeable difference in Risey. Can you tell he still has wobblers - definitely, but I do see some improvements in his movement and He looks happy! Sweet Risey 💕
