Meet Massimo. He has been in Singapore since 2006 and is one of the few expats who were honored with the Commendation Medal at the National Day Award. We talked about his amazing job and also chatted about how an Italian in Singapore deals with Singlish and local food. Enjoy!

    Fun fact Punggol is one of the locations that is shown in the Singapore passport at the pages where you get your passport stamp. It is the river with the white bridge.

    How is it possible his Italian accent is still that thick despite being in Singapore since 06? I can imagine Singlish is hard for him to grasp. He's one of those foreign talents we welcome with open arms. 🎉

    @@tssnmmnope depends when he had his Italian accent. Research shows that anything after 12/13 years old make the accent more permanent compared to when you are younger.

    He can be very proud and Singapore 🇸🇬 as well. The transport system was well ahead of its time even decades ago. Sydney AU is only slowly catching up now with Metro Rail from Chatswood to Rouse Hill.

    You are wise in choosing mixed vegetables rice. It is economical and nutritious. You can choose 2 vege and 1 meat. Or 2 meats and 1 vege. You can also try the Malay foods, like Nasi Lemak, Nasi Padang, Satay, etc. Bon appetit!

    What an interesting occupation. I would have asked him more about it. Like how the work hours are and what's the most challenging aspect of the project? And what a contrast of Rome and Singapore as the former doesn't have a robust subway network presumably because of its remarkable ancient sites everywhere.

    Singapore MRT stations are built to a f***king high standard. Check out the mosaic tiles in Yio Chu Kang MRT- finished in 1987- they still look brand new….

    Quite interesting indeed! BTW, the "twenty ..." pattern of reading years is only used for years 2010 or later, and "very unique" is not a thing. Something's either unique or it isn't; you mean _remarkable,_ _distinct,_ or _rare._
