FAQ:
Who is this lady?
Gina Petitti was born in 1935 in Faeto, Italy. Her family ran a farm in Italy and she met her husband, Vito, in the same town. In 1970 Gina, Vito, and her 4 children immigrated to America. Gina’s husband passed away in 2012, but she is surrounded by a large family, which includes 9 grandchildren, and lives 5 minutes away from her eldest daughter in New Jersey. Gina spends her time cooking, gardening, and being an active member of her local Church.
Where does Gina get her recipes?
Most of these recipes are from what she learned growing up in Italy, but some of them have evolved over time. She has also learned new recipes from friends and family in America. She is always eager to try new things.
Why is no one helping her in the video?
Grandma Gina doesn’t want help! Usually, it’s because we will slow her down or not do it “her way.” For the videos we only show her, but when the camera cuts we jump in and help form the cookies or prep for the next step.
Why don’t we buy her a new...?
Grandma Gina has a closet and garage full of new gadgets, spoons, forks, pots, etc… but she doesn’t like them because she is used to doing it with her old tools. She has fun getting her hands dirty!
Who is behind the camera?
Her retired son-in-law films, her daughter helps her prep, and she usually has one or two grandkids in the kitchen.
Does Gina read the comments?
We print out and show her how much love she gets from all her viewers, and she is very thankful and hopes you enjoy her cooking! Your comments bring her lots of joy, laughter, and inspiration to make more videos to share with you.
Thank you for watching, we hope you subscribe, and we will see you in our next video!

I lived in Italy for a year and stayed with a wonderful family outside of Florence (Firenze). I was taught to cook Italian food and it was probably the best experience of my life just living there and all that I learned. Hearing Grandma Gina speak in that glorious Italian accent ( and every once in awhile and Italian word will pop out and I just love it) makes me so very happy & brings me back to wonderful Italia. Love you Grandma Gina. So glad I found your channel. ❤

My mom was from Puglia, your nonna looks and reminds me so much of my mom who passed in 1996. She speaks English like she did, I understand her dialect... The first time I saw her I cried and now I'm mesmerized watching her because she reminds me so much of my own mom. Her recipes are a little different than my moms were but otherwise they could have been twins. Good for you for doing this channel for her.

I've just started watching the Italian Grandma series, and I love the early videos that show Grandma Gina's work in real time--how she develops a relationship with the dough, exactly how it looks, and how long it really takes. The newer videos are also fantastic, and I love how she has become a comfortable narrator of her videos. Very inspiring! I am 65 and am going to start making my own dough just like Gina!!

It says in the Bio she is very happy with her kitchen utensils, pans, etc. that she is using. It says she has brand new stuff that she doesn't use because she perfers to use what she has been working with. I think she is smart enough to know if that knife wasnt cutting it. Ha! Literally!

We do, too. Breadcrumbs, chopped garlic, capers (not too salty), lemon and olive oil. Delicious! I love Nonna Gina and her recipes! All the comments from we who love her are a reflection of her ability and beautiful personality, not to mention her joy of cooking. She's a doll! Blessings.

What she didn't do and is critical is to dig out the center and get all the prickly hairs at the bottom. That's the "choke" and it will literally choke you. I don't waste the outer leaves like she did. I trim the tips with scissors except that top most point.

Gina, I have trouble cutting my artichoke leaves. My Grandma used scissors to trim the leaves and after needing stitches from using a knife so I now use scissors! Easier on my old hands! God bless you and your family now and always. Chao and MANGA MANGA

Dear Gina’s family We have always enjoyed Gina and how she prepares the food and talks with us and explains things, and to say it politely, we just don’t need the son-in-law adding comments during the show. I think that we would all like to just see Gina and enjoy her very authentic way and wonderful personality on her own . Thank you

Interesting..I've never seen artichokes made this way before. I stuff mine with oiled breadcumbs w.cheese, cut and stuff artihokes same as you, then cooked them in a covered pot & water on the stove. However, My mother in law used to make hers with bradcumbs and eggs. Nice to see the potatoes and peas to accompany the chokes. : )

Amazing work and improvements. I def cant wait till try one of these delicious recipes. I wish will on your channel. p.s: I think it would be so nice too add one fact about herself or a lil story anything to get to know her better as she show us her skills. I would recommend subtitles! i would love understand everything she says as i enjoy her accent. she's amazing. XOXOX
