    Why would Cora be bothered by geldings?

  • @anj3595

    @anj3595

    8 ай бұрын

    @@lydiaferguison Because, mares become very hyperactive coming in or out of estrus around male horses. Even geldings. They can become very aggressive and can even want to fight with them, depending on where they are in their cycle. Cora is getting there if not already there. I don’t remember when she was foaled.

    Mares have serious PMS before, during and after being in heat... some mares can be completely unmanageable and dangerous while in heat. I have had geldings act like mares so if you throw a hormonally unstable mare in the mix with a hormonally confused gelding there can be some EXPLOSIVE fighting. I had a 16 year old paint mare and a 3-4 year old gelding that would fight so violently when she was cycling that they both suffered injuries! I had to separate them a week minimum before she came into heat and i couldn't put them back together until a week after she was out. Hormonal and utter lack of hormones clashing can definitely cause some problems...

    Roger that. I'm 76 and was in my early 30s the last time I was on a horse. And that last time doesn't really count. I introduced my young son to horses at a place that let tenderfeet ride a walking horse in a long line of horses down about a half mile trail in a big circle back to the stables. Very disappointing to me but my son was beaming, which made it all worthwhile.

    I know that a project has to consider the cost of materials and time to complete a project. Given that understanding, it would be nice to have alley from one end of the ranch to the other and have gates at each pasture. Then moving them you could run them down the alley to the place that you want to move them to. Good video and success getting the animals moved.

    My dad was from Oklahoma. I was raised in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona but I learned to pronounce meadow like Dad, and Dusty. I got a lot of good-natured teasing about my Texas accent when I first joined the Navy and stationed in Maine, but my accent changed over time. My mom was pure Texan. But guys in my barracks could hear her on the cassette tapes we exchanged, and they all said she sounded exactly like the star in "Gone with the Wind", which should have been a Georga accent but was apparently just Southern to my shipmates. BTW, the actress (I forget her name) was from England, but she was pretty good with her American accents.

    I'm from upstate NY (Syracuse Area) i've been in Texas for 25 yrs and have no Texas accent. Most people say my accent is from Minnesota or Michigan. Never been to either of those states. I get picked on for saying pecan as pe-can not pa-con.

    Good job, Melissa LMAO!! Or was it Katherine? Funny, him getting your name wrong, even though the second time (in the video) was intentional! Dusty, I'm a little surprised you didn't take Cora with you, unridden. In the olden times, colts used to run along with the carriages, with Momma in the traces, to accustom them to how things went. Cora's a little older than that, but it might have been instructional to her (plus fun for her) to be led or follow along with the four riders. I'm speaking, of course, from a position of abysmal ignorance.
