Love how this guy literally left because of a conflict over style of play with Moyes. Then telling us we should stick with him. Why should we stick by him if you didn’t?!!

It’s a fair point but I think as a bloke trying to manoeuvre another position he can’t be seen to be dissenting. After all most owners now want PE teachers who say the word “project” a million times because that’s now progressive apparently.

Playing to not lose vs playing to win. When West Ham come up against the top seven sides you can understand Moyes playing to avoid defeat, not taking too many risks, being cautious etc. But, in the other matches you've got to believe you are the better side and play to win.

Was a strange appointment in the first place.

Warburton cdnt even beat a hibs team that hadnt won scottish cup in 114 years moyes has 1000 games and did well at everton before ammers.

John Lyall took us down three times, Moyes's win ratio is higher than any manager we ever had. I guess if you were a real fan you'd know that.

@@ruzziasht349 not the same as that was over a tenure of 15 years, he also won us 2 trophies, and took us to the top of the 1st division in 86 (finishing 3rd) and on a shoe-string budget, compared to the likes of Liverpool Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham at the time, he was also at the mercy of the Browns, and the fact after 1977 he had to fully rebuild due to retirements etc... he then bounced back in 1980 with an FA cup final win, you clearly were not there as you would not say this about Lyall, plus he played good football, or what was considered good football back then. he also paired Cottee and Mcavennie West Ham's best ever strike partnership, if you want to talk about overrated managers it is Harry Redknapp you should be looking at.

If you look at both the Lyall and Greenwood eras, there were a lot of very mediocre seasons - here's the pick of the positions. 16th, 12th, 14th, 12th, 16th, 12th, 17th, 20th, 14th, 18th, 13th, 18th, 17th, 20th (relegated), 16th, 15th, 16th , 19th (relegated). Like I said, fans just cannot calibrate their expectations these days. And I honestly don't understand what is the model? The only team I can think of is Brighton, and if anything, we are moving towards that bit by bit, with the appointment of Steidten, and improved recruitment in general in the last few seasons. But hate is hate. And the fans I talk to that want Moyes out, some will discuss, but not in an open-minded way. They explain away all the successes and give the wrong emphasis to poor results or difficult seasons, as if those things just didn't happen to other managers or clubs. But this is where I do understand them. When we defend deep and narrow, we are hard to break down, but without real ballers that can hold and carry the ball the in those cramped spaces, we struggle to get the ball back or to break out sometimes. And that keeps us on the back foot. It's 'anxious' football because if the ball is near our goal, you are just hoping we can hold strong, whereas it's way more comfortable to have the ball in the oppositions half. But here's the thing - go to the Man Utd, Spurs or Arsenal fan sites and see what they have to say about 'possession football' when all that possession doesn't win them a game. They are so fed up and frustrated with it. The basic fact is, any strategy is frustrating if it isn't bringing wins. It's just the counter-attacking style is inherently more anxious for fans, even if it's a good strategy against teams set up to hold possession well.
