Last Spring I drove Lincoln Hwy from Carson Nevada to Utah. I'd read about the history before the drive. My trip took me parallel to Pony Express. Nevada driving is a dream, do it if you can!

Sitting in my recliner, watching this, 3/4 of a mile from Lincoln highway, and one of the last drive in theaters still in operation. Little town in Ohio. Love it here.

@@Pointman-yf6or For years, starting in 1932, there were two Route 30s between Mansfield and Lima. The "old" Lincoln highway and the "new" Lincoln highway. They were called 30N and 30S. Eventually, in 1974, 30S was renamed 309. A few years ago that section was redone and is now all 4 lane highway.

That was an excellent video, thank you for putting it up! It's interesting to read all the comments from others that lived along the Lincoln Highway like I did for about 20 years!

Used to live off the Lincoln Highway. Now I light up when I see the sign for it (granted I’ve only seen the sign in Gettysburg).

My mom and I just drove the Lincoln Highway from Latrobe to Breezewood, PA last week. Along the route we visited the Lincoln Highway Museum, Fort Ligonier, and Flight 93 national memorial. The road is breathtaking with lots of sights to see along the way, even some hairpin turns! They have a Bob Evans in Breezewood built by the Amish with no nails just wooden pegs. I hope whoever reads this will Hit the open road. This is how we can support small town America 🇺🇸 and keep it going.

I did it last week with my mom from Latrobe to Breezewood where we stayed the night before I had to bring her back to Jersey. The scenery was outstanding. It was so enjoyable.

Follow the trains was one way to navigate by then. Cross country navigation is no different then maritime navigation. It's easy to find your location with basic (no electricity) tools and a good map. People of that day had attitudes that were much different then today. Not the negative biases of the presenters. Having been raised by parents from the Great Generation. I was raised with the same attitudes of independence and self sufficiency. It was not hard for Engineers to design and build the roads. Humans have been making paved roads for more then 3,000 years. The Romans used concrete as a building material. The problem was marketing cars. One Sales Pitch: Cars would save the environment. In a nation faced with removing millions of tons of Horse Manure from streets daily that was and is still true. The attendant disease, not to mention the smell were a real problem
