The energy and atmosphere started in the parking lot far before the game. Fans of both teams tailgating together, island music blasting, nothing but love all around. Bosco even had a table set up with Kahuku gear available for their fans. Definitely a special experience I hope you can experience one day.

Not that they don't deserve it, because these are all like D1 signed. But imagine being in HS and traveling all over the country to play the best teams in other states. Cool to see these kids getting these experiences in life

There is a reason why SJB and MD are at the top tier in the nation. When you have speed in all the skilled positions even with the backups, sometimes you gotta just sit back and grab the popcorn! Definitely grateful for the experience as it can be a building block down the road for our island boys from the North Shore and Millz. Go SJB and MD keep raising the bar of excellence!

Brave effort from Kahuku, not the result they may have wanted but thats probably the closest SJB have gone so far this season which speaks to how dominant they have been. St Frances from MD visit in two weeks, and with Carvalho back from injury, an upset might be on the cards in Hawaii.

I remember at a certain time, maybe 1990 something, they were tied among all high schools nationwide for most current NFL players with 5. And a lot of kids from Kahuku area go to play for private schools on the island, Manti Teo is one of them. That area just has so much talent, plenty of Samoan, Tongans and other Polynesians there. Just look at their fans, mostly Polys.

EXACTLY, UNTIL THE GAME STARTED THAN IT WAS LIKE WATCHING THE SINKING OF THE TITANIC AND PASSENGERS SCREAMING , " IT WAS PIPI LONGSTOCKINGS FAULT !"🤣😂🤡🤪

I was at the game and Kahuku did very well even though the score doesn’t show it. Bosco couldn’t pass on Kahuku but they ran up and down the field because Kahuku played the pass first then run which carved their defense up. Offense had a lot of missed blocks on the screens and Kahuku should of did a lot of misdirection runs into play actions to help the oline. Kahuku has always had the talent but get out schemed in the coaching and play calling. Kahuku is a play the run and blitz the qb kind of defense which they did the opposite and didn’t blitz once. Offense is a roll out pass and pound the ball to wear out the defense which they didn’t and tried the short pass and screen game. Nonetheless Bosco is very skilled in every position and their scheme is pretty simple but they execute it well. They literally play take what the defense gives you. Kahuku had a 5 man box the entire game which pretty much tells the offense to run up the gut. On 3rd downs when Kahukus dbs gave the receivers a cushion they did a quick short pass which turned out to 6-10+ yds. On a side note, Kahuku doesn’t recruit, if anything they lose home grown talent to private schools even to Mater Dei. The kids from Utah that comeback home to play doesn’t mean Kahuku recruits. Their parents are typically alumnus from Kahuku who moved out of state and send their kids back or move back.

Kahuku is a PUBLIC high school. They do not have the luxury of recruiting. They actually lose players to the elite private high schools on the island. The fact that they can even compete with these CA schools that know no district lines and pull athletes from a pool of players 1000 times bigger is amazing in itself

St Francis was crap against kahuku, kahuku dominated them the whole game, st Francis did not score 1 offensive touchdown, their 3 touchdowns came from a fumble and 2 interceptions, they got an interception in the last minute to win kahuku.

If Kahuku was in the trinity league they would get all the polys no debate. They would take over in my opinion.

Thing with Kahuku is they always had plenty of talent, going back decades. However, even today a lot of their talent goes to private schools such as Punahou and St. Louis. Per capita, the Kahuku/Laie area has got to have some of the most football talent in the entire country. Probably the highest percentage of Samoans and Tongans in the country.

Kahuku is the only team this year so far that Bosco couldn’t put the mercy rule on. Held them to only 34 points.

Kahuku always got plenty of size, enough to match with almost any team in the country but they never get elite speed. Actually Hawaii football is like that, plenty of linemen and linebackers but less speed guys. Yeah, I know why just look at the population of Hawaii.

Rushing and blocking is what gave them the edge to then get the few passing yards they had and the red zone score. Kahuku’s front 7 got better at filling gaps second half in which if they did that in the first the score would reflect that. But when u have good running back who barley have to try bc lanes is open and nobody to fill they gonna get chunks every carry and that’s what happened, along with some bad tackling

Keep in mind Kahuku is a public school from a small town going up against the recruited all-stars from LA. If SJB could only pull from a population a couple thousand people they would get destroyed by Kahuku

St John Bosco is hammahz. That being said they recruit all over and that's why they are number on out of Hawai'i and america. Kahuku doesn't recruit and all these guys are from one part of one small island in the middle of the sea.

Bosco recruits only from Inside Cali and the district. But since Cali is like 10x the size of Hawaii they get 10x more the talent and size. Not just that but the coaches is like college-tier. Very hard to fight a team that doesn’t have a weakness. Just like St Louis, they only recruit island-bound and got the coaches to back it up. That being said, this year’s Kahuku squad was pretty top tier overall. 15/22 of their starters has at least 1 D1 college offer. Which made them so dominant state-wise.

I just don’t understand why the Hawaiians dont do their own war dance Every Polynesian Island has their own war dance The Fijians have the Bole/Cibi , The Tongans have the Sipi Tau, The Samoans have the Siva Tau, The Māori’s have the Haka, and finally the Hawaiians have the Ha’a. Every polynesian island is different so it’s annoying when uneducated Polynesians get mad at other races but some of you Polynesians don’t even know your own history and culture. We’re not the same just because you’re Polynesian just like the rest of Polynesia. We have different ancestors and different cultures. Just because we all live in the pacific doesn’t mean anything Just saying🤷‍♂️
